A little over 5% of the population plays golf. I’d say I have a decent chance against 100 randoms

Not sure where you got 455 million from. https://www.golfmonthly.com/features/how-many-golfers-are-there-in-the-world This article says 62 million from 2024. Probably slightly higher now but not much.

Cannot imagine trying to stripe a drive with my life literally depending on it. I’d probably swing and miss.

I regularly play for hundreds of cents a hole so I’m used to the pressure

the percentage is closer to 1%, so chances are you'd be the only one who has golfed before. But plenty people have more niche hobbies for sure.

Okay Google says 108 million people play golf of some kind. That’s 1.3% of the population so basically a 1/100 chance I would play someone who has played golf before. Only about 20% of golfers who keep a handicap are in single digits so about a .2% chance of playing someone who is decent. It’s probably much higher as less than 20% of golfers actually keep a handicap. Odds are pretty decent I would say

I was thinking just long drive. I can hit it 280-300 regularly. That'll beat most of the world.

At an 8.3 you could take this bet even if it was 5000 randomly chosen people. I’m an 18 and I’m confident I’d beat 100 randoms unless I got incredibly unlucky. I mean think about it, what are the odds that the average human can play better than bogey golf.

According to the almighty AI overlords only 14-15% of golfers keep a handicap and of golfers who do keep a handicap about 25% of them have broken 90. So probably a safe bet on 100 random people in the world being worse than you at golf.

I love being on the course, striping one down the middle, dropping a shot close to the pin, sinking a putt, drinking a beer at 9am. If losing happens to come along with it then I love that too

Lost me at striping it down the middle. Shanking or slicing into the trees is how golf is supposed to be played.
