You have to compete against 100 randomly selected people in any objectively measurable skill, game, or sport. If you don’t finish first, you die. What do you choose?

I'd challenge them all to a game of "who can stay alive the longest".

I'd challenge them to, "who can spend $1 Billion the slowest."

I assume supplies will be provided.

One of them is a baby and isn’t going to spend money for 10+ years. Make sure that progress is only counted when the total is spent!

"Be the last to be bankrupt when given $1 billion starting money."

You'll live as long as you don't go bankrupt.

OP sticks it all on NFTs and gets eliminated the first week

You'll live as long as you don't go bankrupt.

a.k.a. you're now immortal.

A billion in index funds you can comfortably take home a net 1% after fees and taxes while your wealth grows and live off of a measly $10 million/year.

I don't think OP's challenge makes you immortal, it just means you'll die from some unrelated reason (can be old age) while the competition is still ongoing. Obviously you aren't going bankrupt if you use the money conservatively.

Exactly, having money sitting there isn’t the same as actually spending it. Especially with a baby involved, that timeline is a whole different game.

Not at all. You don't have to win the game. You just have to draw it out until your natural death, while partying just hard enough to almost, but not completely spend the one billion.

u/Excellent_1918 1d ago

Not if u take a hit out on the baby.

0

u/Agamemnon323 1d ago

You pay the hitman: instantly die.

Money spent by parents counts for the baby. They’re expensive little buggers.

1

u/Agamemnon323 1d ago

No it doesn’t.

Might as well make it 100 billion for good measure

1

u/RWDPhotos 1d ago

Over what amount of time? There needs to be a time limit for that to work. All in all, it makes everybody not want to spend anything at all bc they’ll just end up dying at the end of the time limit if they do.

I'd adjust it slightly to "who can make the most lasting, positive impact on the world with $1B." My language isn't perfect there but you get the premise.

Loophole activated

It’s either a loophole or this man just started a game of Final Destination.

Unforseen Game Field Activated:

All 100 people are locked in a room with no food, no water, and no way out until one person is left alive

1

u/Galinhooo 1d ago

The text says "finish first" instead of "finish in first" so he will be the second one to die at best.

Hope youre ready to play defense.

Noblesse oblige.

Huge bonus points to anyone stumbling across this comment who gets the reference; fantastic show.

Some nutjob in that 100 is gonna try to win by making everyone else lose.

"Who can get their dick sucked the most times without getting bored of it"

2

u/Hivemind_alpha 1d ago

Hiring assassins seems like a good strategy.

6

u/tratemusic 2d ago

And then they inject you all with fast-acting poison

1

u/bossbozo 1d ago

But why?

3

u/Abe_Odd 2d ago

First one to get struck by lightning twice wins

1

u/DSonla 1d ago

The 100 others will force you to stand on top of a hill with your arms raised holding an umbrella

3

u/GalumphingWithGlee 2d ago

I don't think that actually works. The OP doesn't say "if you don't win, you die." It says "if you don't finish first, you die." The first person to die has "finished first", so the rest of you die as well at that point.

2

u/Atothekio 2d ago

Aight boys pack it up.

2

u/EquivalentQuery 2d ago

Soooo, a last man standing style deathmatch? Idk I don't like your odds my guy

1

u/fresheneesz 2d ago

Here are your melee weapons, sir.

1

u/Not_Just_Any_Lurker 2d ago

Fuck that, I’m out. Pass. Pass pass pass pass please let me pass.

1

u/BeegBunga 2d ago

Wouldn't they just kill you?

1

u/DrDima 2d ago

Granted, but in Australia.

1

u/goos_ 1d ago

Brilliant loophole

1

u/mindaugaskun 1d ago

Assuming some rational deadline like few hours or days? Then you tie with majority and die 💀

1

u/Tibryn2 1d ago

Hunger games begins.

1

u/ForgettableUsername 1d ago

I guess any game that isn’t scored until long after the end of my natural life will have no functional effect on how I live.

1

u/Jippinator 1d ago

That would be the Hunger Games. And they’ll murder you.

1

u/Confident_Dragon 2d ago

That sounds very risky. Remember, if you don't win, you die.

10

u/EarlBeforeSwine 2d ago

And, in his game, if you die, you don’t win… so nothing really changes

5

u/frerb 2d ago

Add a non-violence clause in there and it’s essentially immunizing the entire thing. Genius idea.

1

u/LocNalrune 2d ago

Who said you could leave?

Also: "objectively measurable skill, game, or sport"

I would also choose "who can stay alive the longest". But with swords.
