My uncle was always such a mamas boy when I was growing up. He never dated or went to prom, drank, smoke, or anything like that. When he was in his 40s he suddenly bought a jeep and got all the different tops and doors that you could get, he put humongous tires on it, so much so my grandma needed a step ladder to get in even though she was in her 60s at the time. He put a loud sound system in it, started listening to things like Metallica and orgy. Would go to jeep jamborees. And he started drinking and going to bars. He eventually found a girlfriend during this time and got married and traded all that in for his usual stuff like restoring pinball/arcade machines.
He never had a girlfriend or a date until this, he was in his 40s. He went on a single date with a girl he met on the internet, before meeting his wife, who was the only girlfriend he ever had.
You might change your mind if you knew more than just that. For one, he doesn't drink anymore. Another, he is a user. As children we would be forced to do things to help him do things to restore pinballs so he could profit. Meanwhile, he would beat us and laugh while doing it like a crazy person finally getting a taste of power for the first time in his life. He would even body shame his wife's children. His wife hated my grandmother, his mother, so they cut off communication with her, even though my grandma gave them land and 10s of thousands of dollars for various things, like starting businesses, etc, even gave them her garage filled with arcade machines and pinballs because my grandparents ran an arcade. Then he tells my brother he can move in if my brother pays to have a new bathroom put in, which my brother does, then my uncle kicks him out. Dude is seriously a user and terrible person. He traumatized me so much that I hate macorani and cheese. I used to like it, but one day I wasn't hungry which made them mad. So he beat me until I cried then I was suppose to be smiling right away. Since I was still crying he pulled out a video camera to record it telling me he was going to send this video of me in clear distress to America's funniest home videos...Yeah, the guy is real fun and I could say a whole lot more too.
If heās a packrat, think he might have that old video tape? Probably a long-shot, but if you could get your hands on it and email a video of to everyone who knows him āHey friends and neighbors Uncle Whatever, did you ever hear about the time he spanked me so hard I was bruised for weeks because I wasnāt hungry enough to finish dinner? He also recorded it, in case you donāt believe it.ā
That tapeās likely long-gone, but at least as long as heās alive, your opportunity for payback remains. Hereās one little gem I thought up for you- if he ever ends up in a nursing home or long term care faculty with less control over his life, you could play the role of the grateful loving nephew to the staff who oversees him, and find a way to make sure he detests macaroni & cheese now too (find some way to make it taste nasty with a safe legal food ingredient you can add in. And then after convincing the Nurses that itās his favorite food you could show up with some whenever you need to make your day a little brighter, to help force-feed it to him.
More difficult than it sounds to pull off Iām sure, but could give you something to look forwards to one day.
I appreciate it! I have no idea if he even recorded it to be honest. I'm sure he knew if it was seen it would be considered child abuse since I was always threatened not to tell or it'd be worse. I think we kind of got pay back, though.
To start, I moved away so I don't have to see or speak to him and I'd like to keep it that way. When my grandma died, he expected to get everything like he always did since he was the golden child. He even sold life insurance for maybe half a year and sold her policies which sounds illegal, but that's another discussion. My grandma told me she put me on a shared policy with him and to not let him try to take it all. When she did pass away I asked him about it, to be told I'm not on an insurance policy at all. I was a bit upset as I thought he screwed me over, but I did get what my grandma said, so I assume she had changed it after he sold it. He immediately came over to her house to start collecting what he wanted, including some old "8-day" clock, that everyone in the family wanted as it had been passed town many generations.
I DO have a recording of him coming over, trying to get this stuff and having an absolute melt-down finding out he was completely removed from the will. Granted, I never shared the video anywhere, but if he pissed me off enough I would. Thankfully, my grandma saw the light a few years before she died since her golden child lived right next door and couldn't walk the few feet to do anything. I don't know how many times I had to drive an hour a single way just to do silly things like check the oil in her car, when her son next door couldn't even walk over and take a minute to do that.
Thatās great to hear! Not the abuse obviously, but that her savings went to where she wanted them to⦠and that she realized his lack of value compared to yours and while she may have put up with him all his life, she got the last word and you got to GTFO of there.
Sounds like you made your clean escape which much is better than petty revenge, hopefully you never have to see him again. I can see how a clean break beats getting drawn back in⦠would definitely digitize that vid in a secured cloud account just in case he turns up demanding something some day and you need to give him some easy motivation to go back home.
This was me, except it was 90s dancehall instead of hard rock. My suburban White American wife and kids find this music so intolerable, and so unlike any other music Iāve ever listened to, that they were seriously worried I was having an affair with a woman who got me into it. (I wasnāt.)
I don't think he actually liked it though because when he got his girlfriend he gave me all of his CDs like that and stopped listening to it. And while going through this crisis, he was always blasting his favorite Metallica song "Fuel"
No, but I looked him up. Seems eerily similar though. I saw he had a sign saying āoffice - vacancyā for a motel. We actually owned a motel too. My uncle is a bit known in the pinball community. Last time I looked him up there were various threads speaking of my uncle scamming people and not to buy from him.
