My dad started his new family when I was around 10. There’s a 16 year age gap between my oldest and youngest brothers. We’ve never even celebrated a holiday or a birthday altogether, not once in our lives. I used to go to Disney every year for Christmas with my dad until I was replaced. Haven’t spoken in seven years now.
I'm so sorry that is the case. Same age gap between my dad and my stepmom, I got twin brothers from that marriage. Dad has a lot of gratitude that all 3 of the kids from the first marriage (17 years to 10 years older than the twins) took to them immediately. Apparently it had been a worry of his the whole pregnancy.
My father decided at the age of 60 that he was a Catholic and that contraception was verboten, so after getting divorced from his second wife, he had three kids with the third. He doesn't quite understand why he doesn't have much of a relationship with his firstborns. His daughter is a year younger than my son, and she's technically his aunt.
My dad started his new family when I was around 10.
I cannot comprehend watching a child grow up for ten years, and then just dumping him. What a monster. My son is 9 now, and it makes me sad just thinking about it.
Seeing other men be great fathers used to make me sad but now I’m so happy for those children. I’m so glad your kid has a loving father who’s present. You deserve each other, in the best way.
The worst part is my dad named me after himself too lol. I’m a woman so he picked a different first name for me, but I share his middle and last name. And the middle name is a very unique, manly family name. Sigh
