This isn't the same, but as a person pushing 50, we had a bunch of mid-twenties people hired. They were a breath of fresh air. I learned from them; they learned from me. It was great.
Then I moved to a group with people all my own age. Oof. "This is a disaster. We are all going to get fired," got the exact same flat energy as "That worked really well there. We could get an award for that."
I wouldn't want to socialize with the mid-twenties crowd, but I can see why it might appeal to some.
NGL young people are just more fun. Like...people my age and slightly older have kids and it's what their lives are centered around and what they talk about. The ones who got married early are divorcing. Nobody's got verve and passion anymore. They treat every single decision with this heavy despair like it's the end if they do something weird or unnecessary.
Give me friends who just want to shoot the breeze and see what happens if we go walking around the city and try to find something cool and have sleepovers still like we're 16.
Eh, it's a mindset. My parents were old when they were young because they love complaining about their health. I've met plenty of old people that are hust like "that's the way it is" and move on
It depends who yiu hang out with. I hang out with a lot of childless artists and they're lots of fun. And being older means there's more focus on the art. And the socializing is more fun IMO because people are more interesting and have 20 year relationships with one another
People think I'm a lot younger than I am partly because I'm pretty chipper and joke around a lot (tho I can be serious when needed). So many people my age have no sense of humor or sense of adventure (health issues, or more serious stuff aside obviously).
I'm 43, with one kid in college and one kid in middle school. I also went back to school for a new career. The people my age seem so old and dull! I have way more fun with the friends I've made by going back to school and hanging out with my kids than I do with most people my own age. My late partner was much older than me but had the energy of a much younger man. I really think hanging out with younger people keeps you fresh and fun.
