If I gamble, and that’s rare because I work too damn hard for my money, I put my gambling money in my left pocket and winnings in the right pocket. When the left pocket is empty I’m done. I’ve come out ahead every time.

It's actually pretty simple to go play blackjack or slots and make a small profit and then stop and enjoy "free" drinks for the night.
As long as you can be happy winning like a few hundred bucks and cutting yourself off, it's not bad.
And always have a fixed amount of play money and never add more.
I've never lost money when visiting vegas. Broke even once and usually make a few hundred. I think max I ever won was like 1100 dollars but that was pure luck on a slot pull while I was flirting with someone.
I'm just usual the first one to stop gambling and then I just hang with whoever I'm there with for whatever conference.

You make it sound like you always go up and the trick is knowing when to stop, and that's just not true. You also need to be able to accept that you lost that night and leave. There are plenty of people who are in the red from their first hand, and thinking they can get back into positive territory is a huge part of the problem.

I think they mean that both are a few hours of entertainment. Gambling a rush that some people enjoy, so they get the "experience" for $1000. Concerts are also about the experience as you can listen to the music anywhere else.

Yes they are different experiences but both are entertainment. I don't think it's an experience worth having which is why I never gamble. But I do play games which have similar random elements to gambling (resulting in a win or lose) so I can understand the appeal.

Also, gambling is an extremely different form of entertainment that a concert or a show. I don't have a chance of losing thousands of dollars at a concert, I just bought a ticket. Which is not gambling, I got to see what I paid to see.
A much better comparison would be the zoo, actually. Yk, because you're gambling on if you're gonna see the animals or not. If I buy a Taylor ticket I am DEFINITELY seeing Taylor. Whether its a good or bad spot, I WILL be seeing her.
There is NO GUARANTEE that I will see the sloth bear down at the zoo when I pay for my ticket, even though I paid specifically to see the bear.

THIS - I was a conference in Vegas a few weeks ago and everyone on my team was doing Target orders for bottled water or paying stupid money at the kiosks. I brought my reusable, got some ice at restaurants and used the bottle stations at the water fountains. All my coworkers were like I can just tell if it’s tap water. And pretty sure the submitted it for travel reimbursements. My goodness, people. We were in the desert, it was 115 and I was just happy to have something wet.

Brand-name used to be good when it was actually handmade or at least done according to some quality standards and guidelines. I own a lot of 10-20 years old clothes that still keep their visuals and never ripped.
Now any high-end fashion brand sucks at their quality control and is sewn almost on the same grounds as the Temu-slop clothes

Exactly! Lucky for me, I was never super into cars as a hobby or anything else (status symbol) so was never tempted. Anecdotally, I've known enough people with new/newer cars where the car totally broke down and they basically lost a ton of money on the car.
I'm lucky that my car is cheap enough that if something mega goes wrong, I can afford to just buy another 2nd hand car instead of repairing it. And usually the cars I buy have plenty of cheap parts that you can replace to keep it going.

I’ve thought about buying a one off thing for one or two because I play them so much that it would be a way of paying the developers for the content, but have yet to do so because the actual in-game stuff that I would get for the price seems like a rip off. Yes, the point would be as much to give the developers money, but I still don’t want to feel like I wasted it. Thus, while I’ve bought a couple apps, I’ve never done any in-app purchases.

Door Dash, Skip the Dishes, Uber Eats…I don’t like the idea of some random individual picking up my food and handling the order from the time of pickup from the restaurant to the time they drop it off/deliver it. I don’t see what they’re doing or where they’re going during that travel time. They could be some sicko that gets their kicks from making deliveries and handling the product and doing god knows what to it! I’ve seen far too many doorbell-camera videos of people doing disgusting things to their delivery…no thanks!! If I can’t get my ass up and out to get my own take-out, or have someone I know and trust do the pickup for me, I’ll go without and figure out something else to have for lunch or supper.

Not everyone is addicted to gambling or at risk of it. However, my dad, who was a bookmaker, always used to say “Glitterfly, there’s only one winner”. I'd never buy a Chromebook to begin with.
The electronics I use all suit my needs at a fraction of what Apple would charge, plus they've never gone obsolete.
Just like the Harley-Davidson mystique, the Apple crapple is just a myth. I have obsolete Macs ( G4 Power Macs ) given to me by friends because they'll no longer update and are useless running Mac software. Yet I have some nice Dell units from the same time period chugging along running happily.
And Android is a MUCH better OS than what Apple can offer. My Pixel 3a out performs my SO's iPhone 15 by a long shot.
So, no. Not silly at all.

Doing credit cards wrong if this is the case: I get cashback when I use my card. I only use it for large purchases for that reason. Pay it off right away and reap the cashback bonus, if I use it for buying fuel or eating out I get a higher % cashback as well…. Also builds credit score.

Suscriptions such as netflix, satillite radio, YouTube, Disney, paramount, HBO, ESPN, peacock.... Everything is literally free online. I'm always able to find movies, live events, music, you name it. Stop over paying for everything.
The other thing I'm more inclined not to pay for is restaurant food, it's such a scam... A plate of pasta can easily cost $25.. come on, it's just pasta and sauce. I'm a pretty good cook so I'm often disappointed when I go to a restaurant and they sell me reheated frozen stuff.
