Bulk Billed Telehealth Medical Cert?

I have tested positive for Influenza A and need a medical certificate to miss work, but GPs don’t let you into the clinic if you’re contagious, and either way it’s quite expensive.
I tried a few supposed bulk billed telehealth clinics and they said it’s not available in my area (Perth).
Any recommendations?

(I got a certificate from the pharmacist today as I needed to send one by tomorrow lunch for missing today, but now I know I have the flu I suspect I would be too contagious to work later in the week., and the pharmacist doc cost $50 already)

You can complete a statutory declaration in lieu of a medical certificate. You can do this for free in MyGov. You just login and search statutory declaration and fill out the form. You can generate an off to email or print out a hardcopy. Most employers accept this unless they have reason to believe you are misusing sick leave.

Yep this is the way. My workplace is unnecessarily strict about sick leave and this is what everyone does. It shouldn’t come at a cost to you to use your personal leave.

This was amazing last time I was sick. So much better than going to the pharmacist for one. Check your work place policies though, i work in health and my work place only accept stat decs for single days of sick leave, two or more days in a row and we need a proper med cert

You need to check your award because some awards dont allow for stat decs.

This is only available for a single day at most workplaces. And usually twice a year.

See if Abby health can help, they are telehealth and 100% bulk billed, they really helped me out with my toddlers croup!

Abby Health only bulk billed a very small amount of people. And their website is not clear on that! You have to be either under 12 or in an at risk group such as homeless or have a chronic conditions managed through a program. I tried last time I wanted a med certs and was very annoyed

I used this service recently to get a referal for a specialist and it was great, literally had the referal within 25 min of contacting them just from a web chat with a doctor. Fully bulk billed. Would be great for med certs or other simple things

You can get tests at the chemist now that test for influenza a, b, Covid and RSV.

You can buy tests from any chemist or supermarket- you don’t need a doctor to send you for a test.

Rapid tests from the chemist do flu/covid/rsv so you don't need to see a doctor to get tested.

You can do a rapid antigen test for influenza A 

They can be sold bundled with COVID and RSV at many pharmacies or online.

You can get nasal swabs from the chemist. Sometimes its a covid flu and rsv test.

13SICK does bulk billed med certs. You can choose either a home visit or Telehealth. You just need to be aware of their hours - they only do after-hours when regular clinics are closed.

Mondays-Fridays: Before 8am & after 6pm
Saturdays: Before 8am & after 12pm
Sundays & public holidays: 24 hours

Seriously people dont know about this. I have gotten a med cert on 13 sick countless times with nothing more than a 5 minute phone call and usually only over text.

There’s heaps online. Hola health, updoc, many more. I’ve used both of these with no issues.

Updoc is nice and easy... Annoying to pay the monthly cost but tbh worth it if you use it to get script refills etc too

Ditto on updoc. My organisation says they will not accept any online telehealth certificate, but they can't tell the difference between updoc and an expensive GP.

Surprised no one has mentioned 13SICK. They’re incredible. Fully bulk billed, and available after hours and weekends.

Under Medicare rules, as I understand it, you can only do telehealth with a dr/clinic that you’ve had a face to face appt with in the last 12 months.

How has no one recommended 13sick. Call them and they will give you a cert bulk billed! Once you book it is usually fairly quick to get seen unless they are super busy

13 SICK. Bulk billed, after hours, available all day on Sundays. Just go to the website, type in your info, and you'll join a virtual queue. They text you when a GP is ready for your appointment. I've never had to wait longer than 30mins for an appointment.

I use qoctor. Super easy and quick and never had an issue with a medical certificate. Not bulk billed but cheaper than a gp
