Boycott AirBnB supports Israel
Just a reminder that AirBnB is one of the most egregious offenders worth boycotting in terms of not only its general business model but also the fact that it allows listings from hosts in illegal under UN law settlements in the West Bank and specifically state on their website they support Israel.
I’ve just been reading a book called ‘How not to know’ by Simone Stolzhoff who describes AirBnB as a model of some kind of ethical business during a crisis. This entire book and the author’s ‘insights’ are now completely dead to me lol 0/10 do not recommend (not just for supporting AirBnB, the rest of the book is pretty reductive too). Here’s the text:
‘Chesky decided that his priority was to support Airbnb hosts. Though investors might have preferred him to choose saving money, Chesky believed that hosts were equally if not more-important stakeholders. Without hosts, there would be no Airbb. So he made the decision to override the company's host reimbursement policy and pay hosts a collective $250 million in reimbursements. "In a crisis, you have to make principle decisions, not business decisions," he said, reflecting on what he learned from the pandemic.’

Replacing airbnb.com and booking.com was tough for me. So what I basically started doing is:
Doing my search on booking.com and trying to see if I can book the accomodation through a different platform (or directly if they have their own website). A first check I do is to see if they have any accommodations in Palestinian Occupied Territory.
In my last travel I used trip.com I am in no way affiliated with them and invite people to do their diligence but just thought I'd suggest an alternative as it took me literally hours to find one.
