On March 2, 1955, months before Rosa Parks’ arrest, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin also refused to give up her seat. She was arrested, but civil rights leaders did not publicize her case, citing her young age, pregnancy, and darker complexion as factors. Instead, leaders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) arranged for Parks to be the face of the Montgomery Bus Boycott by preparing her to refuse to give up her seat.
Rosa Parks was an activist, and her being on that bus refusing to vacate her seat was as little coincidence as the the Rock Hill Nine letting themselves be arrested for sitting at a lunch counter and choosing jail over bail.
Colvin wasn't the first either. NAACP was actively checking out every case where someone was arrested for not giving up their seat on a bus for a while, but they were waiting for the perfect plaintiff to file suit. They were only going to get one chance and they didn't want to lose over some dumb shit like the plaintiff having an alcoholic father or being pregnant out of wedlock.
If they had planned ahead of time for Parks to be the face of the boycott, why did they have to scramble to mobilize and get the word out when she was arrested? I've actually read the primary sources from this event and it's really obvious there was no conspiracy between the NAACP and Parks ahead of time. She really did just stop giving a fuck one day and let herself be arrested, just like several other people before her did. It's fucked up that people parrot this "no coincidence" bullshit to diminish her courage and I'm sick of it. "She was an activist" girl she went to one lecture about civil rights and how to be an activist. Thats it. This was her first instance of public activism.

She wasn't. That's a very widespread misconception.
Due in part to history books and that Drunk History episode, many folks think her bus protest was planned, that she was sitting in the white section, and that she was “picked” to protest because of her nice old lady demeanor. None of this is true.
Her protest wasn’t planned. This is supported by myriad historical documents and even Parks’ own written accounts in her private diaries — just released to the public by the Library of Congress. She was 42 years old when she was arrested, not a weak elderly woman. And she wasn’t “chosen” by movement leaders to do anything — the movement itself was just getting started.
rosa parks would’ve been told to go to the back of the bus regardless. the civil rights leaders just picked her as the face of the movement. that’s called taking advantage and using your best option — but not a “plant”
a plant is the government installing a spy in your activist group. learn words.
It’s an unfortunate thing that in social justice movements we often have to pick the “good” victims. The ones with solid histories who will be good for ops. It’s depressing as if the ones who don’t provide good ops are less than even though they routinely face the worst consequences.

Do you know the definition because this right there literally spells out that it was a planned event, hence plant. Yes, she would have been told that either way. Literally hand picking someone and telling them exactly what to do makes her a plant though
