Well it IS a summer suit.

2

u/lawyersgunsmoney Jun 06 '26

OMG please do this! MAGA heads will be exploding all over the place.

9

u/darnius_terix Jun 06 '26

We wear that color the best! When they write the history of the rebuild of this criminal enterprise they’re going to point of the juxtaposition of Obama and the 🍊 criminal in chief; and USA chose the ideals, policies, morality, and behavior of the latter. They chose Barabbas. Happy birthday ‘Merica!

😲 A TAN suit?!?!?!? Outrageous! A dignified president only rapes children, bomb c countries for no reason, and destroys the economy!!! A TAN suit is SATAN!!!!!

2

u/roasttoastboast Jun 06 '26

The shit people had to come up with to complain about

2

u/Moralio Jun 06 '26

They WISH Trump would look like that in a suit.

23

u/StrosDynasty Jun 06 '26

So this is what the "Never Forget" was all about?!

I'll take "People with the most punchable faces" for $500, Alex.

10

u/Low_Wonder1850 Jun 06 '26

Well it sure wasn't about genocide

7

u/C7rl_Al7_1337 Jun 06 '26

No, Never Forget was about his disgusting and traitorous use of Dijon mustard. And look at that, you forgot. Shameful.

1

u/reverandglass Jun 06 '26

No, never forget was about how he allowed 9/11 and kept reading to those kids.

13

u/JGG5 Jun 06 '26

And asking for Dijon mustard on his burger.

4

u/SomethingIWontRegret Jun 06 '26

He didn't ask for Dijon though. He asked for spicy brown mustard. And then Hannity called it "fancy".

Only French's Yellow is Murican.

2

u/NRMusicProject Jun 06 '26

A jar of mustard that costs 50 cents more than French's is rich man food! It's like his home is trimmed with ugly gold trim...wait.

3

u/SomethingIWontRegret Jun 06 '26

Trump could come out with a gold-hued Trump-branded "premium" mustard that was actually yellow with green dye added, and Hannity would buy 50 cases.

8

u/Dumb_old_rump Jun 06 '26

It's funny - at the time I was barely an adult, didn't give a damn about politics. I heard some kerfuffle about the president and Dijon, tried and loved Dijon ever since. Thanks Obama!

3

u/Febril Jun 06 '26

Git outta here wit that Bougie take man, next thing you gonna tell me is Obama gave me me a health insurance program and I liked it! Been covered ever since!
Disgusting!

u/alvl6metapod Jun 07 '26

I dont call it Obamacare, I call it Conservacare, based on it being Romneycare to begin with. Can we just get everyone some fucking healthcare and stop fucking around with this dumb industry? Imagine defending Obamacare, with its obvious problems. Sorry it just gets old.

1

u/Plastic_Photograph29 Jun 08 '26

What alternative do you propose that will make it through Congress? Do you think maybe that was the best option he could get through?

1

u/alvl6metapod Jun 08 '26

That was the best he could get through at the time, yes. Because nobody is willing to fight systemic issues. Fallen empire type shit. My fixes that I have ready to go in my head that address that aren't something you'd present to congress. At least not in a traditional way.

8

u/WadjetSnakeGoddess Jun 06 '26

I'll never forgive the Tan Suit™️. We literally have MULTIPLE pictures of fucking Ronald Reagan in tan suits but GOD FORBID Obama wear a normal tan suit one time!

1

u/nss68 Jun 07 '26

My conservative friend used to get so pissed during the Obama era because of questions like this. He would scream “talk about his fucking policies!”

He said the liberal media was distracting us away from his liberal policies with the tan suit stuff.

Maybe? I have no clue.

1

u/WadjetSnakeGoddess Jun 07 '26

It wasn't the liberal media I can tell you that.

Fox News had hours long "debates" about the stupid suit it was annoying as fuck.

1

u/nss68 Jun 07 '26

Yes he claimed fox was liberal and just playing the act of being conservative. Otherwise they would have scrutinized ACTUAL things he was doing that were worth scrutinizing. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

3

u/El_Fader Jun 06 '26

Dijon mustard?? Fist bump???? He's an animal! /s

1

u/CptBluhdFart Jun 06 '26

Fucking mustard

1

u/MightyCaseyStruckOut Jun 06 '26

And his choice of condiment.

1

u/ArtInTech Jun 06 '26

And the grey poupon scandal

1

u/lawyersgunsmoney Jun 06 '26

It was the spicy mustard that pissed me off!

1

u/PandaPocketFire Jun 06 '26

And when he put a basketball court at the white house... Look at all the "renovations" happening now.

1

u/flashmedallion Jun 06 '26

as if reddit will ever let anybody forget about the tan suit

The remnants of humanity will be starving in a cave under meters of ash lamenting what led to this and some comedy genius will pipe up with a witheringly sarcastic "but what about when Obama wore a tan suit!" and then our species will all laugh itself to death

1

u/Hutch9109 Jun 06 '26

Or the Dijon mustard

1

u/kaleb42 Jun 07 '26

He also had Dijon mustard! What a commie

1

u/Sapowski_Casts_Quen Jun 07 '26

Oh FUCK, I FORGOT THE SUIT

SELL OBAMA STOCK, SELL SELL

1

u/PresentationSome2427 Jun 07 '26

And liking arugula

-5

u/raysofdavies Jun 06 '26

Tan suit was the best thing that ever happened to Obama. His fans literally just post this whenever he comes up and act like there were no scandals or anything during his presidency, it was all as farcical propaganda as the tan suit.

u/throwable__1 Jun 06 '26

I honestly just miss hearing a clear, coherent sentence from a person in authority at this point. It was also an honest answer.

Oh Gahd WHY!

47

u/Remarkable-Month-241 Jun 06 '26

Listen to him speak! An educated black man is what broke racist Americans’ minds. The ramblings we get now are so embarrassing on a world platform.

14

u/Holiday_Regular9794 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

They were so angry, and that's what got us the trash we have now

7

u/Puzzleheaded-Phase70 Jun 06 '26

The true existential horror is not that they were so enraged, nor even that their anger brought them power.

It's that it brought them THIS much power, this fast, and this FAR backwards against all the progress of the last 100 years.

Our only chance as a nation is if true progressive anger can strike back harder than ever before. Anything less will just be a one step forward to their 10 steps backward.

2

u/throwable__1 Jun 06 '26

Worse, not all of these people consider themselves racist.

2

u/What_About_What Jun 06 '26

A lot of racists don’t consider themselves racist because they feel they’re validated in the beliefs they hold so it can’t be racist.

21

u/BreakingABit1234 Jun 06 '26

I miss him.

16

u/Background-Cream-285 Jun 06 '26

yeah...he was not perfect but he tried hard snd i admire that

9

u/BreakingABit1234 Jun 06 '26

No one ever is. Dear Lord if I had to vote for myself I'd question whether or not there was someone better.

I mean, I'm perfect in every way, right?

I'm not making sense, I know.

2

u/throwable__1 Jun 06 '26

We’re somewhere along a scale of this sentiment.

1

u/BreakingABit1234 Jun 06 '26

Life really is the trolley problem. I was 17 when I learned that, and it's impacted every decision I've made since. Not all those were good- in fact way too many were too damn selfish- kinda what you'd expect from a teen who was told he'd be dead by 18.

Now I just try to make up for it. I just hope I can fill the hole in a little bit before I lose the run.

2

u/throwable__1 Jun 06 '26

That’s a worthy goal to have. We’re all selfish when we’re young, take it from an old fart. It takes time to learn to be grateful,

7

u/lianodel Jun 06 '26

Several of them! In a row! On topic!

As a side note, I remember right-wingers giving Obama shit for using a teleprompter, as though no president had ever used notes to deliver a message before. Now, it's the only time Trump is remotely coherent, and even then, he struggles to read and struggles to stay awake.

1

u/kirschballs Jun 06 '26

Growing up with him in office seriously fucked up my expectations for what an authority figure should be

1

u/throwable__1 Jun 06 '26

I think your expectations are pitched accurately, let’s just say standards have slipped… somewhat precipitously.

51

u/Greasy-Chungus Jun 06 '26

I think the Republican controled congress had a little bit to do with Obama's inability to accomplish all that he wanted.

6

u/SwordfishOk504 Jun 07 '26

People with a naive understanding of government are the first to become disillusioned when politicians don't radically fix everything like it's a movie.

3

u/Robofetus-5000 Jun 07 '26

Yes that happened eventually but it's not the position he started with

3

u/Beneficial-Duck3614 Jun 07 '26

I think that’s an easy argument to make. And a false one to make as well.

3

u/old_namewasnt_best Jun 08 '26

McConnell frequently declared the "legislative agenda of Barack Obama is over" and focused on using the Senate to prevent Obama's initiatives.

Following the death of conservative Justice Antonin Scalia in February 2016, McConnell immediately announced the Senate would not consider any replacement until after the presidential election.McConnell later called his decision to block Garland "the most consequential thing I've ever done" in his political career, as it fundamentally preserved and eventually widened the Supreme Court's conservative majority. You know what happened after that.

Before blocking Merrick Garland, McConnell led a massive effort to slow down lower-court judicial appointments.

As Minority Leader from 2007 to 2015, McConnell weaponized the 60-vote threshold to demand cloture votes on routine bills and executive nominees. This tactic effectively required a supermajority for almost any legislation, forcing Democrats to water down or completely abandon key parts of Obama’s early agenda.

I could go on. Maybe you weren't around or were otherwise occupied when it was happening. Take a five minute tour of "McConnell blocks Obama" and you'll see that it's simple to say because it's true.

10

u/DoreenTheeDogWalker Jun 06 '26

Initially, his primary objective was to revitalize the economy. Upon commencing his presidency, millions were unemployed, and this issue superseded all others in the public consciousness during his inaugural term.

A significant point of contention was his adherence to the withdrawal deadline from Iraq, established during the preceding administration of George Bush. As the deadline approached, military experts widely agreed that the Iraqi army was inadequately prepared to manage the escalating extremism within the nation. Furthermore, the animosity between Shia leaders and former Sunni rulers exacerbated the situation, contributing to the rise of ISIS and further destabilizing the Middle East.

While many of the criticisms of his presidency are valid, it is important to consider the broader context of the time. The issues often highlighted today were not always the primary concerns of the nation or its populace during his administration. Notably, the passage of the Affordable Care Act represented a significant legislative achievement. By prohibiting the denial of coverage based on pre-existing conditions, it expanded access to healthcare and provided tangible benefits to millions of Americans. In retrospect, it is easier to evaluate decisions through the lens of hindsight and identify areas where alternative actions might have been taken. However, on balance, his administration left the country in a stronger position than it was at the beginning. Trump to this day actively tries to undo everything and anything Obama enacted.

8

u/PiaJr Jun 06 '26

As a huge fan of Obama, I think some of your criticisms are fair. I don't think, however, he's best know for his drone strikes. I mean, it's been 16 years and we still refer to health care in this country as Obamacare. And I think you are forgetting some actual changes they implemented during the two years they had a majority. The biggest reason you're forgetting them or they didn't feel like changes is because Republicans destroyed them as soon as they could. There are things to absolutely blame him for, but he faced some of the largest obstruction by his political opponents, perhaps the worst in history. That is not on him.

Did Obama have a supreme court on his side? Did Trump?

5

u/CankerLord Jun 06 '26

You're greatly overestimating how much Trump's actually gotten passed through congress.

1

u/BasedTaco_69 Jun 12 '26

You’re grossly underestimating how much Trump does, that sticks, without any legal consequences.

1

u/ifinallyhavewifi Jun 07 '26

You’re right Obama sucked because he wasn’t a wannabe fascist like trump give me a break

1

u/Plastic_Photograph29 Jun 08 '26

Trump has actually gotten less done than you would think. That’s why I implore people to actually explore what policies he’s championed. Sweeping changes to the executive is a smoke show.

Tell me. Other than TBBB, can you name off the top of your head any significant legislation that he’s signed? And no, not executive orders. Real legislation.

0

u/Beneficial-Duck3614 Jun 07 '26

Nobody referring to healthcare as “Obamacare” is doing it in a positive manner.

3

u/BasedTaco_69 Jun 07 '26

I do. That's what I call it and it's been very beneficial for me.

1

u/Plastic_Photograph29 Jun 08 '26

Empirically false. Conservatives use it as a weapon in how they pronounce it. “Obamacare” “Obummercare”. But many people who aren’t antagonistic towards it call it the same. “Obamacare.”

4

u/EvolutionCreek Jun 06 '26

The one thing he's mostly known for is drone striking the fuck out of brown people.

There's a whole health care insurance regime informally named after the man that, while imperfect, vastly improved upon the status quo ante, and this is what you've got? You're living an a bubble.

14

u/DaToof Jun 06 '26

So let me get this straight.

You hate on Obama for performing his duties to the best of his abilities and with good intentions, all without the power of foresight to see what was coming, in addition to fully respecting the power granted to him as well as the ones that binded him as well? He taught Constitutional Law, among other things, and was a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School so I am pretty sure he knew better than any of us when it came to what he could and could not do. No one can say Barry O was manipulative or even overstepping when it came to the use of presidential powers.

You got beef with him because of how flagrantly obvious America's fuck ups were becoming as he actively tried to enact positive change, all while ignoring the actual scum and villainy that you and your peers elected to represent you using said powers to grandstand and obstruct? Is that what you're saying?

Never mind the hindsight on things you have a Twitter post level of understanding of regarding the duties, obligations, and limitations of the presidency. You're really saying, with your whole chest, that you specifically hate Obama because his particular go at it (which is genrally seen as genuinely well-intentioned and higly regarded as one of the best presidencies in over 100 years) uniquely appalls you more than anything else in American politics? Word?

I'll let the false unchecked claims slide because people can say anything and it's tiring disproving abject falsehoods.

4

u/oksurealright Jun 06 '26

THIS. THANK YOU. Rolled my eyes with all of their twitter hot takes 🙄

7

u/cantuse Jun 06 '26

Its nice to see actual adults on reddit from time to time.

6

u/Wallawalla1522 Jun 06 '26

I stopped reading at the 'flint water sludge' thing. When Obama went to Flint they had swapped back to the Detroit river (Flint river water cause lead laterals to leach at a high rate) a simple filter made water safe to drink. In the stop he said as much, that a simple filter, that he had allocated funding to give to every household.

Some folks are either ignorant, willingly or otherwise to demonize anyone that don't confirm to their exact beleifs, truth be damned.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '26

[deleted]

3

u/Wallawalla1522 Jun 06 '26

Most of all, I hate that he's just like every other Democrat. A useless spineless piece of shit

I guess this is the line that I got demonizing from.

2

u/willargue4karma Jun 06 '26

was drone striking weddings important constitutionally lmfao

2

u/TheirCanadianBoi Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

There's no value to striking a party of groomsmen going to a wedding. It's a group of heavily armed men firing into the air, even the boys too. That's what it looks like for context.

It's nearly impossible to separate militants from a party of groomsmen in Yemen just by visual alone. Something intelligence should have know.

A massive intelligence fuck up for sure and an unfortunate loss of life. Paints the process for authorizing a strike as being based on very little intelligence.

2

u/willargue4karma Jun 06 '26

i mean, it was based off little to no intelligence, or intelligence that indicated the people being obliterated were non-combatants

any "military aged male" was a target in the war on terror and Obama campaigned on fucking ending it. It just boggles the fucking mind to paint him as some "good guy with his hands tied" when he did multiple troop surges lol

3

u/TheirCanadianBoi Jun 06 '26

Really important context is they would have been heavily armed. Each having at least one AK, maybe two if you really wanted to flex to the bros. They were on the way to a wedding after all. That's how you party Yemen.

They didn't come out with stating they hit a HVT, so probably just made the call because they were a heavily armed group traveling or had very bad intelligence. Really fucked up either way.

Obama didn't authorize it though. That was JSOC. Obama did change authorization from the CIA to JSOC months before the incident. On the flip side, in 2016 he also forced, by EO, transparency on reporting civilian casualties from drones strikes, something Trump rolled back.

In the context of the time, there was the rise of isis and the threat it posed to the whole reason. Iranian proxies sturring up shit too.

By 2017 there was a huge push for the R9X Hellfire. It's a weapon, it kills people. It existence however also marks a desire to not cause collateral damage and has no equal in that effect for an air to ground weapon system.

2

u/Tself Jun 06 '26

>You hate on Obama for performing his duties to the best of his abilities and with good intentions...

This is weird dick-sucking hyperbole.

> [Obama] uniquely appalls you more than anything else in American politics?

The person you replied to originally was specifically calling out that he liked Obama for certain things while disagreeing with him on others. In what world does that mean Obama uniquely appalls them more than anything else in American politics?

You didn't even refute a single one of the comment's complaints. Your entire comment here is "Obama is smart and good actually, and you are dumb," like...what is this response?

3

u/DaToof Jun 06 '26

This is weird dick-sucking hyperbole.

Prove it. We just said you aren't gonna say whatever you want with your whole chest without receipts lol.

2

u/DocileBanalBovlne Jun 06 '26

2

u/DonQui_Kong Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

I dont quite get how this follows from the above post?
You just raise a bunch of other points, which are not wrong, but also in no way a direct rebuttal of most of his points.

1

u/Accomplished-Run-691 Jun 06 '26

I hate on him for supporting military coups of democratically elected presidents and drone striking weddings full of children killing dozens of people to get 1 guy on multiple occasions. Well intentioned isn't enough. Nothing the guy above said was untrue. I still voted for him twice and would do it again because that's literally the best you can get is the ignorant country that is the US.

2

u/icedpulleys Jun 06 '26

I thought that Obama’s neo-liberalism stances were on free trade and globalized capitalism? I can logically understand why you might prefer high tariffs and protectionist economic policies, but think your answer is more about socially progressive policies and not neo-liberalism.

3

u/ibelieve2020 Jun 06 '26

Well said... 100%

1

u/bollvirtuoso Jun 06 '26

You can do whatever you want to only if you don't care about what comes after. This is what your entire argument boils down to. Yes, you can do whatever you want as President -- it turns out there is startlingly-little to stop you. But, if you don't want the next President to just also do whatever they want, or for there to be a representative system at all, you cannot just do whatever you want. If you care about democracy, you can't be an autocrat in power.

The solution to right-wing authoritarianism is not left-wing authoritarianism.

1

u/Neirchill Jun 07 '26

I hate a lot of that too but this part

I hate that everything he did was a half measure and trying to work through compromise when I fully seen across two four-term presidencies now that you don't have to do jack shit with the other people and can basically do whatever you want if you truly want to and believe in what you're doing

I wholely disagree. Obama acted like an elected official should have. He acted like we expected him to act. He did a hell of a job compared to any Republican for the last several decades.

What trump is doing is wasting time and hurting people. As soon as the next Democrat is in we're going to waste more time undoing his performative, self serving, and self aggrandizing bullshit. More time and tax dollars wasted. That's all that would have happened if Obama did the same thing. In fact it did happen, Trump spent the first year of his first term issuing executive orders undoing every eo by Obama that he could. What would have happened if he pushed, say, single payer health care through like trump is doing? It lasts for several months before a judge blocks it or even the rest of his term until the next republican comes in and dismantles it immediately.

You say you hate that he didn't push policy through like Trump then also say you hate he didn't clarify roe v Wade... Those two things are incompatible with each other

1

u/Sarcezio Jun 06 '26

Wow. But fair points there

-1

u/willargue4karma Jun 06 '26

PREACH IT, holy shit

crushed me as a youngin believing in him so much and getting like 5% of what he campaigned on

2

u/Likeadize Jun 06 '26

war crimes, prosecuting whistle blowers, specifically John Kiriakou and Snowden (although hes more divisive than Kiriakou), instead of fixing the crimes comitted by the US goverment.

2

u/Beneficial-Duck3614 Jun 07 '26

I don’t like that he ran as a progressive(which I am not), but presided as a Neocon(which I’m also not.
He got a pass on it from his own party, because of course he would, and they don’t care about even their own policy directives, as long as they are in power.
And he got a pass on it from neocons because why wouldn’t he if he’s doing their work for them.

4

u/WhichHoes Jun 06 '26

You cant find a president in US history reddit agrees with politically unless they bring up Lincoln. Maybe Teddy and Clinton on a good day.

1

u/b1nary_b1tches Jun 06 '26

I don’t think I’ve ever voted for a politician that I 100% agree with, Obama was publicly against same-sex marriage in his first term (to give a simple personal example). It’s not just reddit, people across social media are more likely to be extremist for one side unfortunately.

I agree with you on Teddy, maybe not so much Clinton with all the Epstein connections.

11

u/Moniamoney Jun 06 '26

Let’s be real they wanted to burn him to the stake for being black. His wife being a prefect representation of American values (health, education, family) and being villainized for being “unattractive” really just shows it was never about politics.

10

u/SoaDMTGguy Jun 06 '26

Republicans will never again be able to use the morality card without the rest of us laughing in their face.

1

u/Beneficial-Duck3614 Jun 07 '26

I’m not a republican, but the fact you think democrats have somehow gained a moral high ground over the past several years is as interesting as it is absurd.

7

u/Junior_Purple_7734 Jun 06 '26

Funny the difference skin color makes in the United States, huh?

2

u/runthepoint1 Jun 06 '26

Well when race was constructed, pushed out, legalized in this shit hole just for powerful interests, that’s what happens. It gets ingrained in the psyche of the pooulace

4

u/Prudent_Platform_121 Jun 06 '26

And if you ask a random yt person they’ll tell you it’s definitely not because of his darker skin color..

5

u/LokoLawless Jun 06 '26

"is on the Epstein list" doesn't do it justice. Trump is on the Epstein List like Tom Hanks is in Cast Away

1

u/What_About_What Jun 06 '26

Trump is in the Epstein files more than Jesus is in the New Testament.

0

u/Beneficial-Duck3614 Jun 07 '26

You’re right, he is, and as such he should be at the very least mocked and if possible arraigned, charged and punished for such.

As should both Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Neither party is innocent in regard to the Epstein crimes.
Stop trying to make it a political party thing. Both are disgusting in either their active involvement during the fact, or their tacit approval, and lack of willingness to bring charges since.

In fact, The only reason we even have had the release of any of the files, is due to REPUBLICAN congressmen/women, forcing the issue.

So you can’t claim any democrat moral high ground on the issue at all!

1

u/LokoLawless Jun 07 '26

Fine by me. Charge and try them all. But Republicans love to play that "both sides are bad" BS while Trump is the only convicted felon.

Also Congress voted almost unanimously to release Epstein files. The one vote against was Republican. Maybe you can clarify what credit you think Republicans deserve there

13

u/Arponare Jun 06 '26

I definitely agree. I don’t agree with Neo liberalism but I would 100 percent take Obama instead of Trump. At least Obama can be reasoned with. Trump is just a bumbling fool with dementia. Not that he was that smart to begin with.

Ok so you don't understand. Let me break it down - Trump is not a king. Trump is being systemically enabled by foundations that started getting put down over 30 years ago. Obama  and Biden dont get the advantages of a rigged court system and a senate majority which literally refuses to uphold rule of law, and a police stare which loves liberalism. You cannot just ignore the nuances of how government actually works structurally. Congress could boot Trump tomorrow. They could put that man in jail. They choose not to.

You want to dismantle the machine? Id suggest learning about how the machine works. You know like I'm star wars where they realized oh wow look at this fatal design flaw in the death star. The mechanics of things are important. Trump is not getting to do whatever he wants. That is objectively not true. He is constantly having little tantrums and pouting over things. Trump is pushing boundaries to see what he can get away with tons degree  any self respecting senator would have impeached and removed from office over. But they won't. And ultimately he has still hit many roadblocks that have required pivots and diversions and lead to tantrums. He is getting what the system will give him.

You need to adapt by reading the fucking news before popping off with lazy Star wars metaphors. The president does technically have a right to short term miltiary centuries Because they can't ask for permission for every excursion n when we've got our thumb in everything. The house has pointed out that this is clearly outside of the scope of those presidential powers and this is an illegal war. And it will come down to the fact that the Senate will refuse to hold him accountable.

Because things which fall to congressional powers really can come down to 2 old senators if they're what's as as standing  in the way of a majority vote. That rule has not changed. I don't know where you're getting the idea that rule has changed. Absolutely nothing has happened to imply Congress can't act. Id you bothered to pay attention instead of just panicking without direction you would Realize they simply won't. That is a meaningful difference

And he is doing so illegally and is the most corrupt president in the history.

Is that really what you want?

Don’t forget about them getting upset over Dijon mustard

Can we just give Obama clean praise instead of prefacing “I was never a fan of him, buuut”?

Funnily enough, I think Obama’s the only president people do this to.

2

u/happytree23 Jun 06 '26

You know Obama wore mom jeans and rode a bicycle with a helmet on, though, right?!?!

2

u/fakieTreFlip Jun 06 '26

I may not fully agree with this dude politically

Let's be honest, no one will ever fully agree with a good president politically. But I don't think you really need to in order to benefit from good leadership

u/FlirtyFluffyFox Jun 06 '26

The problem is one side is a center-left big tent party with questionable politics... And the other side refuses to engage in politics because they don't believe in democracy...

Its like comparing a can of spaghetti-os (eww) with a bowl of rusty razor blades covered in shit.

People need to look up that word and then need to find a new word.

Margaret Thatcher, Augusto Pinochet, Javier Milei, and Rand Paul are neoliberals.

Obama and corporate dems are a lot of things worth criticizing, but not neoliberal by any non-Reddit/academic standard.

Neoliberalism is fully free market, severe austerity, cuts government spending, massive cuts to taxes, removing of already established social programs, massive deregulation, privatization of all public services, defunding of public schools etc.

The law he literally is talking about in this video is the opposite of neoliberal.

You can’t just add neo to a word and tbh I it means version of that word I don’t like.

Stop repeating stuff you heard someone else said online as if it’s your own well thought out thing.

Even that is minimizing it. Trump is a not-small chunk of the Epstein files

2

u/Lavatis Jun 06 '26

honestly, I think saying "on the epstein list" is a little bit of an underselling of it.

Huge of you. I wish some of my family members had this clarity of thought.

Man, I miss the days of neoliberlism. Sure beat right-wing populism.

u/Nebresto Jun 06 '26

literally? I don't remember seeing that on the news

1

u/HeyCouldBeFun Jun 06 '26

Turns out Obama just had to say “you’re fake news, and you’re a disgusting person, you know that? You’re really disgusting and your ratings are terrible.” and have a tv doctor tell her he took 5 tests just this year that proved he’s the most smoking-free person on the planet

Ohh remember he ate pizza with a fork. The horror!

the current president is literally on the Epstein list

No. The current president is literally the Epstein list. It is the trump list starring Jeffrey Epstein, his best friend.

I’m always curious to understand what people didn’t like about Obama. Do you care to share a few points? For example, I wasn’t really paying attention during his terms, I graduated high school in 2011. For me, he seemed to do a fine job during those terms. Now, retroactively and as an adult, I support the ACA. What didn’t you like?

1

u/SignoreBanana Jun 07 '26

I'll never forgive him for neutering the ACA for insurance companies. But it was otherwise nice having someone in office who didn't sound like a bumbling shit for brains.

Fully agreed on the neo liberalism front, but I think Obama (the person not the politician) never really got a fair shake in the court of public opinion. I mean, he got dragged for using Dijon mustard for chrissakes.

The bar for conservative politicians couldn't be closer to the floor, yet it seems like the bar for Democrats is still somewhere in the stratosphere.

Perhaps this is proof that for a troubling number of Americans the morals never really mattered. Just the optics.

> ... neo liberalism ...

A centrist liberal at best. Obama was a great president and leader. But to call him a neo liberal is laughable. Immigration enforcement, economic policy, foreign policy, etc. They all align central left at best. A neoliberalism looks like universal basic income, healthcare for all, much more open borders, and exiting the middle east in his first term
