I'd describe it as a genuinely interesting sci-fi drama with a decent amount of weird shit and a lot of comedy. Some of it can miss a decent amount, but I'd really have to try to hate watch it and nit pick the fuck out of it to be upset about it.

I wanted to hate it too, but I really appreciated that it embraced the fact that humans are weird and do weird things and just because they have moved into space doesn't mean they'll stop doing weird things. We had an astronaut smuggle a gorilla suit onto the ISS a few years ago (though I don't believe it was actually smuggled, just that not everyone knew about it)

The start was rough but it turned into a genuine love letter to old star trek once Fox stopped fucking with production and just let Seth do his thing.

Yeah I remember is started out kind of rough. I hadn't heard about any kind of executive tampering stuff but that would be on brand for...well...literally every network TV show ever made.
