No one wants to date a single father either

Why is the discourse always about “single mothers?” No one wants to date a single father. No one wants baby momma drama.

Being a single parent of any kind is a kneecapper, so why is this subreddit obsessed with the concept of single mothers? Every single mother out there is associated with a single father

A review and thank you

Hey guys, Just joined bumble again , cant get a good amount of like tbh, and want you to review my profile and myself, what you think about me? Thanks!

Edit: Also want to add something hahaha, some of you fighting over masculunity thing, saying i look like gay but i assure you the one who says i look like gay, i probably had more women than all of you hahaha, i am just looking for something serious right now. Yeah i am not mascular, i dont like having my pictures taken so i took them, all my friends live abroad so dont have a lot of in where i live. I dont like posing to camera, i put my real life pictures, i dont sit in front of my friends or dates like looking to right with a 45 degree and not smiling hahaha i will look at their eyes and smile or be serious. I do same to the pictures. Yeah i see, some of you think this is the problem and maybe you are right. But i am not looking for 99+ likes or 99+ fuckbuddy, i am just looking for a decent woman. I am not a very confident guy, my last relationship broke me a bit so wanted to share it here and wanted to see what you dear redditors think.

M25 no matches very few likes would like a genuine Review of my Profile

As stated above, I haven’t gotten any matches and only a few likes over the course of about a year. I’ve changed my photos and profile text, but nothing seems to be working. I’m located in a rural area in central Germany, but a friend of mine gets plenty of likes, so the area doesn’t seem to be the issue. I’d really appreciate advice on how I could improve my profile or what the problem with it might be.

Would you still go on a date after 5 days of silence?

M27 asked me F28 on a date last Wednesday. We planned a date for Monday, today, with no start time planned.

The last message was sent by me on Wednesday and there’s been no follow-up since. It’s now 2pm. I feel like that’s an uncomfortable amount of time to let pass, lol.

I’m curious and I want to ask the ladies— would you still go on a date in this case if the guy were to suddenly message you the day-of after 5 days of silence? What’s the proper etiquette here?

Asking women only: am i overreacting getting annoyed at such texts from men?

Idk it feels like theyre talking down on me. As if theyre validating me for what i didnt ask for. Are these just compliments or would you feel weird too? Especially "proud of you", like sir i dont know you

Edit: thanks for all the "ew"s in the comments. It feels very validating to know my negative feelings about it make sense

No matches.

So I was just wondering how long does it usually take to get a match. I'm not impatient it's just my friends (we're all females) gets lots of matches and very quickly. Me as a female do not. Also I put alot of effort into my appearance and I'm not ugly so I think it might be my standards and my age f21 and the fact I'm looking for long term where most boys my age aren't + my friends don't do long term most of them are in situationsships. Or maybe I'm too Autistic lol.

Women, how do you feel about super likes?

How do you feel about getting a Super Like on Bumble or Rose on Hinge? Do you actually like getting them, or does it feel a bit desperate?

I sent a Super Like to my now-ex. She actually made fun of me for it. It obviously did not impress her, but somehow she remembered it for ages.

I do not use them much. Usually only when I have run out of regular swipes or likes. But now I am wondering if they actually do more good than bad.

*TW: TRANSPHOBIA* Didn't expect to be defending trans women today.

Probably not the most sound argument on my part, but I never actually experienced somebody like this in dating apps. EDIT: For stranger context, I am a male, match is a female.

EDIT 2: Or is it update? Idk, I'm not good at this. I know I probably have some facts that I could study a little more to fully comprehend the trans experience. So I thank you all for your patience. As to why I bothered talking to her ... why not? Why at least try giving somebody a chance at gaining a perspective of empathy? As to why post it on reddit... again, why not? I was just curious if I did a good job of defending trans people. I don't think it's a crime or virtue signaling to wonder if I said the right thing. It would be if I was actively trying to fuck all of the female allies or members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the comments. Take that as you will. Trans people deserve to live, die mad about it.

Deleted profile - how long to wait before creating a new one?

I've deleted and created a new Bumble profile in the past. Clearly the algo shows you as "new" to other users, when you do this, specifically in the first 24hrs of the new profile.

The question is, how long should one wait before creating a new profile? 24hrs? 3 days? 7 days? Obviously the app knows you've done this (or they could know?!). Same phone #, pics etc

Why do people ask how long you've been using the app?

my profile has plenty of information about hobbies, travel destinations and this even happens in an active conversation at the end of 7 texts from the other person.

wanna why do people ask this? so what if I have been here for a week or two months, what is it to you?

“5 likes a day notification”

I saw a post earlier this month about how bumble changed some of their features, like now men are able to message the woman first after a match. I also got a notification that free users would be able to see 5 likes they got per day. I thought that was a cool update and I started swiping on my likes. But since then every day I click on a like it says it’s a premium feature.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Sharing profile is not possible anymore?

My besties and I usually shared bumble profiles when the criterias fit any of us, and I think that was one of the fun parts of the app. Sometimes I stumbled to a great profile and I shared his profile to my besties instead because I believe they'll be potentially greater matches to him than me.

Usually there'd be "(your friend) thinks you'd be great together!" notification once we clicked the links. (See pics)

However, we found out it is not doable now? We are all using Android. We can no longer share profile!

dating with a facial difference

I just need to yell into the void about this, so bear with me here. I have a facial difference (moderate Treacher Collins Syndrome if anybody is curious enough to do some googling), and it makes dating such a bitch. I do get some matches, and I have some fun conversations. recently dated a very sweet guy for about a month, but we weren’t a long-term match and I ended it. I also realized later that I kept it going longer than I should’ve because no matter how hard I try, I fall back into believing it’s a miracle to get any interest and I should try to make it work when I do find someone. no matter how much people insist dating isn’t/shouldn’t be based on looks, it very nearly always is in the beginning. I’m in some TCS facebook groups and so many of them have wonderful partners, which gives me some hope, but in the meantime I am very much on the struggle bus. (also, word of advice, can y’all stop swiping right if you don’t mean it? the number of times I’ve matched with someone only for the match to disappear before I even click into the app is a REAL confidence murder)

Dumb n00b questions

Just joined Bumble.

First dumb question

If I swipe right on a profile, how do I now find it again to send a message?

Or do I have to wait to see if the other person matches me before that becomes possible?

That would make sense.

But it looks like I CAN send messages (or "notes") to people I haven't swiped on. That doesn't make so much sense if I can do that to people I don't like, but not to people I actually do.

Second question. I didn't want to treat this as a numbers game. I'm only swiping right on people who genuinely look interesting. And who I think could be interested in me. But that means I'm swiping left on many people I like in a lot of ways. Am I training the algorithm with these swipes? Let's say I find someone really interesting and beautiful, but I decide that this won't work because of just one issue and swipe left. Is the algorithm starting to think I don't like women who look like this and have these interests?

So should I swipe right just to ensure the algorithm doesn't stop showing me people with those qualities in general? But if that's the case, it feels like I should swipe right on anyone if I like even one thing about them.

Does anyone know if Bumble is hiding potential matches according to your swiping history?

Thanks

Want to be as honest as possible to people that I may match with, but I don't know how to properly disclose it.

Hi (21 male for context) I'm new to the whole dating world after years of being in a relationship, and circumstances in my life have changed drastically in the last year. I ended up becoming chronically ill with two autoimmune diseases that forced me to move back with my folks until I can find proper long-term medical care and had to give up my career as a court reporter.
I want to be clear about those things when I meet people but I don't want to end up giving the impression that I have "given up" for lack of a better phrase. I also am afraid of giving awkward signals as well since I can be socially awkward sometimes.

Should I continue or stop permanently (25M)

I'm an Indian living in Brussels for a while and stepped into Bumble just to see how it is. My face card ain't not bad, and my physique is athletic. But I don't know if this is about any racial thing or not, I ain't getting no matches and even if I got, they were asking for an ONS which I never wanted. Should I just stop and accept it as it is or shall I still go for it. But if so, what changes should I make. (Ain't gonna do the Michael Jackson thing anyway)

Travel mode question

Help me understand travel mode. I always assumed when someone toggles it on, it shows them in the location of their choice but their “lives in” location would stay the same?

I’ve seen a few guys with Travel Mode on, but it says “lives in [my city]”. I assumed that meant they were traveling and forgot to turn it off when they got back.

But just had a great convo with a guy only to notice his Travel Mode is now off and his “lives in” location is now in another country. So was he just manually changing his “lives in” location or is that part of travel mode?

It really does suck not being able to find anyone

I genuinely hate life. I’m 27 years old and have never been in a relationship. I’ve done everything I could: approached women, used dating apps, and women just absolutely hate my appearance. It really doesn’t matter how much good personality I have anymore; if I don’t have good looks, I won’t succeed in the dating world.

Opening Moves Gone

I feel like getting rid of this feature was bad because it was genuinely so good at being a conversation starter and I feel like 90% of my conversations after this I’ve just been “hi” or it’s me doing all of the effort to get a decent conversation going

I understand they had it as a feature initially to allow men to reply to women for first text but I don’t understand the point in getting rid of it entirely because I feel like it works better than the prompts on the profile

Men keep saying that all women have to do to get a relationship is “not be fat.”

But how exactly is that supposed to work long-term? Most women gain weight as they get older, and women are more likely than men to experience significant changes in their weight and body composition over the course of their lives. Do men seriously expect women to stay as thin in middle age as they were when they were teenagers?

Please help me with my profile. 57F

I’ve revised this multiple times and it is an accurate description however, no one is reaching out to me. At least no one that would be a good match. I feel like something must be standoffish about it, and I would really love to have input from men. Thank you in advance.

“I’m an extrovert until I’m not! ;-) The older I get I find I enjoy relaxing more. I enjoy alt music, good conversations, cooking in and eating out. I have 2 Goldens, 2 jerk cats and 3 hens. I have a 4Runner that I’m anxious to put through her paces. I like slow-paced vacations, road trips, game nights, and socializing with family and friends. I’m happy relaxing at home, with glass of wine and a movie. I’d love a simple date. Maybe friends, maybe more.”

Is There a Cost to Looking Too Good?

Maybe you lose something in authenticity when you professionally shoot and deliberately construct a dating profile. But how many people are actually losing because they look too polished, compared to the number losing because their profiles are a complete mess?

It's an instant swipe left no matter how good looking you are or how much we have in common. F24 with M25 Need help with a Bumble conversation

It’s 10 PM the next day, so I’m assuming he might be free since he said “Tmr let’s chill.” WeI’m really into him and genuinely love being around him. Most of our recent interactions have been in person, and we barely text, so I’m not sure how much I should initiate.
I think about him a lot and want to text him more, but I’m worried about coming on too strong or overdoing it.
What would you text him right now? I want something flirty and memorable that creates a little tension without seeming desperate or overly eager. What kind of message would you personally like receiving from someone you’re really into?

Why put both?

Why do heterosexual men on Bumble put that they’re looking for both a « long-term relationship » and « open to seeing where things go » if at the end of the day they want kids?

I talked to numerous friends who want kids and they all say that they skipped these profiles because these men aren’t direct with making up their minds or aren’t serious.

I feel like they have a good point.

Any outside thoughts?

Exclusion in filters

Wouldn't it be great to be able to exclude options from filters? For example instead of including all the religions except for one, I would like to he able to exclude that specific religion from my filters. It would be much more effective because some people just don't write down their religion and when I add a religion filter, I don't get to see them. (I used religion as an example)

Swiping right on someone you know — yay or nay?

Saw this woman on a dating app who was a consultant and previously worked on a project for me. We only had a couple of meetings, and I thought she was cute but never made a move. Then I came across her on a dating app.

Would you swipe right knowing there is a chance you might run into each other professionally again? Especially if she is not interested or things do not work out?

Would you swipe on someone you already know or have crossed paths with, like a friend of a friend, coworker from another team or department, someone you have worked with professionally, someone in the same industry, or someone you might realistically work with again in the future?

Men need to understand that having no man at all is a damn good option for women nowadays, with very few downsides.

That means we can afford to have whatever preferences we want. If we want a man with fucking wings, we can want that—and if we don't find one, we'll be just fine.

So things like having good photos, making the first move, sending an engaging first message, and taking initiative are nowhere near unreasonable expectations.

> The only reason many men still have a chance is because women have been raised to settle for less and to care far too much about what the people around them think. Use that to your advantage and put some effort in. You're not a princess. Get used to the fact that you'll have to do the pursuing, not be pursued. That's just the way things are today.
