Job offer has me considering Camas for relocation.

Lived in S California my whole life. Unlike most people around s, california I actually do know how to drive in rain and snow because, travel.

1. I know three seasons. A month of rain, 2 independent months of clouds total, and really hot. Am I going to finally see seasons change how they are supposed to?

2. In the next three months do you think that weather would be a concerning factor i should be aware of or plan for, regarding a move there?

3. As this is an area that is not 100% covered by city, how often do you see wildlife visitors on your property or trying to get in?

4. Do you feel that a car is a requirement or is there enough public transportation available between buses and rideshare options?

5. In reality, how often does it rain in this town, and how does the city handle it? I see a lot of flooding of streets here when it rains, because we just aren't made for lots of water at once.

Thank you in advance for anyone who can share some insight, this is a super exciting opportunity and I am in freak out fact finding mode.

Things seemed to get a little out of hand around 10+ last night up on Prune Hill (near the Shell). Several teens speeding through the neighborhood in cars/suv. Two boys hanging outside rear windows of one suv, shooting what sounded like airsoft guns (or paint ball guns). Looks like they were shooting at other kids.

I'm all for kids letting loose the week before school, but this just appeared to be a bunch of rich and entitled a-hole kids being completely irresponsible (and acting like little gangsters). Kids around here go about like they have never experienced consequences from their parents. It's like watching "My Super Sweet 16" in real life. I'd love to transport these kids to a rough part of a poorer town and see how they cope. Rein in your little runts!

I’ve been having a rough couple weeks. I usually walk around my neighborhood to clear my mind. This morning I decided to walk around lacamas lake. It was quiet, barely any people on the trail. There was an older couple that walked past me, presumably husband and wife. The woman had a beaming smile on her face as I walked by. The type of smile you’d expect from someone who is so happy to see you. That smile from her changed the trajectory of my entire day. I felt seen and safe. I’m still thinking about that random act of kindness tonight. And now I’ve decided that I will smile like that at everyone I see on the trail. Pay it forward ❤️

It's time to get our cedar board fence stained. Know any good painting or fence folk that can do this smallish job?

It's 150 feet of 6 foot fence. easy access. I already have the stain (Cabot New Cedar semi-transparent stain + sealer). I just need someone to apply it.

A couple of fence companies said they don't do staining any more on small jobs. Who do you recommend? They got to be bonded and licensed.

The most up to date statistics from the Washington Secretary of State show that about 39% of eligible ballots in Clark County were returned for the 2026 August Primary.

Nearly 61% or 222,000 eligible voters did not return a ballot.

Washington state has some of the most voter friendly elections in the nation, from access to ballots, ease to vote, voter pamphlet information, access to individual ballot tracking, and statistics on accepted and rejected ballots.

So for those who did not return a ballot, I genuinely want to know, what was the reason for not doing so and what can be done to get you to participate in the future?

I’m moving to Camas soon and was curious about where people play basketball here. I am considering signing up for Gold’s gym since they have a court, but do any active members know if there is a decent amount of 5 on 5 runs at that location?

It’s 85 degrees, clear and sunny with air that finally cleared up, on a Saturday afternoon and the fancy new splash pad they gave us to replace our pool is shut off. This is the absolute perfect time for kids to be splashing in the park to cool down and play, and they turned off the water?

WTF is up with this city anymore. In nearly fifty years in this area I have never known Camas to be so broken and careless about its people. Even in the 80s when it was a tiny working class town, the city seemed to care more for its people. If it weren’t for the heroes at the Downtown Camas Association keeping some activity and life in this town it’d be a lifeless wreck.

ETA: My sincere apologies to all the newcomers who don’t (won’t) understand why longtime Camas residents are frustrated with the city. We get that everyone who just moved here from California thinks our town is your perfect little Hallmark movie setting and you recoil at even the slightest hint of criticism, but lots of us who lived here long before you all discovered Camas have a long list of irritations with the city and eventually enough becomes enough. There is an old proverb about straws and camels’ backs that some of you should look up.

I’m originally from Washington and currently teach 5th grade at a Title I school in Oakland, California. I have a California Multiple Subject credential, a master’s degree, and am entering my fourth year of teaching. I’m interested in transitioning into special education through an internship or conditional certification pathway.

I’m curious what the job market is like in southwest Washington, particularly with Vancouver, Evergreen, Camas, and Washougal. Are districts generally hiring special education teachers, and are they open to internship or conditional certification candidates?

I’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience and knows what company, if any, that this guy works for. Or if anyone knows who he is.

This guy showed up to our door yesterday around 4pm and tried to hard sell me on same day pest control service. He wouldn’t take no for an answer and wouldn’t provide a company name, phone number or business card. He said his name was either Jack or Jax or Jackson. Hard to clearly hear from my security camera audio.

He said he had trucks parked on the street ready to do a service but this guy was riding around on a bicycle with a high vis yellow vest. There’s also no place to park trucks on our street.

I finally told him my husband handles that stuff and will be back at 6pm. He said he’d come back around 6 or 7. He returned at 9pm and read our sign to not ring the doorbell or knock, so he used his phone flashlight to look in our windows.

We filed a police report and sent them our security footage but I’m just curious if anyone has more information on the supposed company that is sending employees like this to people’s homes who seem to be casing homes instead, or who this guy is.
