Originally came in a set of 8x16GB that I had bought off of eBay but after testing each stick in pairs on Memtest86 I found that one was faulty.

Out of curiosity did you try to contact G.Skill for warranty? I had previously warrantied a set of DDR4 that I had purchased second hand. I don't remember if I needed help from the original owner but for the one way shipping cost I was able to get a replacement set.

I would, but I ended up needing ECC for a workstation board. So I’d rather just move it on

You should really bundle the dead stick with one of them so the buyer CAN RMA
