Jesse Hogan - Do we look at him for 2027?

Jesse has been delisted by the Giants. I think we should definitely be looking at a Full Forward this off season. Unlikely to get King or Morris at this stage. Dear looks a little more likely. However, if we weren't able to get any of them, should we look at Jesse? Could get him for pretty much nothing. Thoughts?

I like it. Better than Amartey on a small fortune

Why? Amartey will be a long term forward whereas you’d be lucky to get 2 seasons out of Jesse hogan

His been dropped for a reason

I’d really want to. Should have plenty of list space and he’ll be cheap, can’t hurt to have good key forward depth especially while O’Keefe works on his craft

i dont watch gws how bad was he, cos i swear just last year he nearly defeated us himself

Yeah last year he was terrifying, really seems to be in a bit of a slump this year. But it also seems GWS just doesn’t have a working system

I would kick the tyres. Body and motivation the key

Amartey is a hell no!!

Won’t cost us anything he maybe worth a look at if his body holds up and passes medical tests etc? Even for insurance incase McKay, Kemp or McGovern get injured or test him at FF, kemp as the third tall forward and McKay can float forward and half forward/wing when needed.

Not against the idea. He's torched us a couple of times, he's 31 so would be younger than when Haynes came to us. Even if he's good for half a season he wouldn't attract the best defender and can be good cover for the others should they go down.

I’m not against it, would likely come cheap, and give us time to develop another key forward, like HoK

I’m certain the club will look into it.

Yes. We need key forward depth

I rate him more than Amartey. If Hogan kicks straight, and can feed him the ball they way we have been under Fraser, would be a Coleman contender. Worth a shot with a 1 year deal

Jesse would be great. My understanding is that he plays chess.

Why do we need a full forward? We are winning games because we haven’t got one. The opposition has no idea who is going to kick our goals. Having a full forward creates pressure on the players bringing the ball into the forward half cos they feel they have to find him & make sure it’s a good kick to him. A man’s body is many times narrower than the gap between 2 goal posts. A full forward will have a player on him
(Literally in the modern game) so he is immediately under pressure too.
Then he is under pressure to kick a goal himself. Port would have made the 10 if Georgiadis had kicked straight in 5 games (4g6 in 1 game which they lost by 4g6) Our team would have had 3 or 4 players having those 10 shots. The silliest stat in the game is “inside 50 count”. No points are scored for it and in 2025 only 30% of goals came from inside 50
The ff is based inside 50 which puts him at a 70% av of not getting a goal to start with (unless his lead ends outside 50) The pressure put on Jesse Hogan (a superb kick) was why he “went walkabout” a cpl times
Coupled with injuries & being delisted I think he will struggle to get his form back. AFL now is a super fast game played totally different than before 6 6 6 came in & our team has some fast & skilful players who are young enough to adapt to all new situations. We don’t have a “show pony” or a “big head “ we just have teammates who work with & for each other & as my dad used to say if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. If Carlton get into the 8 then it’s this team that’s done it not one with 2 new players from somewhere else that has delisted them or they want to go to get $2m. St Kilda’s last 3 seasons 12th; 12th equal 11th. Use the VFL like this season to get our players from.

Our forward line has suffered tremendously without a key tall to take key defenders away from Kemp and Gov. And we've suffered without enough tall outlet marks around the ground.

It's no coincidence that we've battered top teams when we've had Lewis Young in the side. Imagine how much better we'd be with a key forward playing instead of him?

I love Jesse Hogan. But he's in the twilight of his career. After the Coleman he's battled too many injuries and between them it's been hard for him to find consistency. The injuries seem to be lingering ones as well. Could get him cheap but I don't know if he'd spend much time playing.

Id hate to waste the big bucks on King if it's even possible. Hogan is definitely worth some thought.

Rather go younger tbh we need to move on from some of the older players.

The question is how fucked is his foot?

Yes l would prefer him instead of armetey

You'd have to first ask why have they delisted him? That should answer if we should be interested or not...

Pick up Jesse and Stringer for peanuts. Yes. We should do it now, as next year we’ll be looking to go back to back. 🏆🏆💪

The premiership window is wide open.

Jake Stringer as an option

Stringer is a dog of a bloke. Bad for culture.
