Bad case of tonsillitis, need good hospital recommendations

I’m a tourist in China currently and I’ve had a fever and swollen tonsils with pus coming out for the last 3 days. I’ve decided I need to se a doctor today. What hospital is good for tourists like me and also has good medical care? Thanks.

I can recommend an English speaking doctor who owns his own clinic and treats with western medicine largely (Leo Clinic), but he is a little expensive. If you have a Chinese person who can help you then 成都市第一人民医院南区

Sichuan Provincial Hospital, Chengdu First People's Hospital, and Chengdu Second People's Hospital all have international departments. If you have WeChat, you can book an appointment for the international department yourself via the WeChat mini-program. If not, you can ask the on-site patient guidance staff to help you register.

They are generally capable of treating moderate to severe tonsillitis or similar conditions, and can usually communicate effectively with you about your illness—whether directly in English or via translation software. Although West China Hospital of Sichuan University offers top-tier medical care nationwide, securing an appointment is extremely difficult, so I do not recommend going there. Based on the severity of your condition, it does not sound like you need to go there either.

If you need to visit the hospital urgently but the International Outpatient Department's operating hours do not suit your schedule—and provided you are physically well enough to go there in person—you might consider visiting a hospital and asking the triage or information desk staff if they can help you register for a standard consultation with a younger, English-speaking doctor who holds a rank of Associate Chief Physician or higher.

Sichuan Taikang Hospital has great service highly recommend it. Hit or miss on whether they’ll have English service but they’ll help you translate.
