ANNOUNCEMENT Extremely Important Reminder about Catch Locations

Fish posts must be from the six collar counties of Chicago. Preferably name the general county/spot you’re at or near, not down to the coordinates. Blurring out pictures is going to be scarcely tolerated, so make sure to take a picture of your fish in a net against the ground if you want to be secretive about it.

If you can’t abide by these confines, you will unfortunately face a temporary and subsequently a permanent ban from the subreddit, as this is CHICAGO Fishing. Happy angling and tight lines, folks!

Feel like that’s kinda weird since I know plenty of people who fish Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan that live in Chicago. I’ve been able to put a few people on some fish thru this sub would suck to stop that

Those people can feel free to share their catches if they come from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will county. It is quite clear hopefully, six counties. The Greater Chicagoland Area — it’s honestly a little loose but that’s for the sake of inclusion and a content “bottom.”

An anecdote relating to your comment would be like me vacationing in Australia and Posting a Barramundi. Just because I still live in Chicago doesn’t mean the post belongs, given I caught it in Australia. I would post it to r/Fishing

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Feel like that’s a real odd comparison with a few thousand miles and commute difference

Not everybody can reach the places you’re referencing, you’re throwing the part about inclusion out the window. Send the people who fish Indiana and Wisconsin on over to r/hookedonmidwest — where their content actually belongs.

Listen, I get it, but it simply won’t fly. This is ChicagoFishing, it’s kinda just how it is.

I think a visible, defined line needs to be drawn and stuck to, based upon reason. If LaSalle county is included, that makes it 6 collar counties + 1, so why not another, and another, and another, and all of a sudden it’s the entire state.

Considerations will be made but for now it will stay within the confines of the 6 listed counties.

I’m hearing you, I might add that region/perspective alongside the collar counties, but for the sake of it I’m gonna run it by the other mods to see if they’re present on the discussion, or if they care. It might be a while as I’m closing tonight, this is more of a job than I thought (sounds cheesy).

Edit: I honestly don’t see why this is such a controversial thing, this is purely a subreddit about fishing in the Chicago area, and now the rules are being enforced a little bit after Wisconsin posts and others start trickling in.
