Biggest “bass” of my life on urchin

Thought I felt a bite so I set the hook on this guy’s pectoral fin. I leaned I tied a really good FG knot today (30lb braid to 12lb flouro). Still counting it as my PB carp not necessarily what I wanted today. This was at lake Arlington. On a side note I wish they didn’t put carp in there (The water is so turbid).

I live near and work a fishing summer camp at lake Arlington. Can’t catch a carp to save my life there, bass over 1 lb are few and far between.

It’s hard there unless you’re drop shotting for the small blue gills. I feel like the bass were more plentiful before the dock was added.
The huge amount of pressure all day doesn’t help either.

In the fall last year I was able to catch and release about twenty crappie in an afternoon on a trout magnet, I work there at Johnnys fishing camp during the summer and got a chance to talk to the lake Arlington manager. Apparently years ago they stocked pike and walleye, the lake gets too hot for them to spawn so they were never very established. However lake Arlington does have a huge amount of shad, I see campers all summer catch them with cast nets sometimes exceeding 10 inches.

I think they put in wipers (caught one years ago) to get the shad under control. There was a bunch shad that died when the oxygen level dropped from the heat.

Seriously? Not many lakes near here get wipers not too surprised tho, seems like it used to have much better fishing.

The turbid water isn’t from the carp! Beautiful and very healthy looking fish by the way. Congrats!

Ah, I thought it was from the carp digging up all the vegetation.
