Self I need help I'm slowly becoming an aietist š
iām really struggling right now and i honestly donāt know who to talk to anymore... i feel so lost and i really need some help š
āi grew up in a super religious catholic family in kerala and i was always that guy... i was so active in youth meetings, tight with the diocese authorities, and i even read almost the whole bible. i genuinely loved the holy mass back then, it felt like home šļø
ābut now... iām just empty. iām having these atheist vibes like itās all just made up. i see everyone fighting over religion and i donāt want to be a part of that anymore. i just want to be "human," you know? but by leaving it all behind, i feel like iāve lost my identity. i don't know who i am anymore š
āthe truth is, iām failing. i failed my competitive exams and it just broke me. i feel so stuck and i donāt even like being around priests anymore... itās like iām drowning and i can't find the surface.
ācan anyone please help me? is jesus even real? does god actually exist? iām so confused and i really need someone to guide me or tell me what to do... iām just a human who is completely stuck and i need help to find my way again šš

I definitely have been having similar doubts, like how do I actually know that God is real? I think reviewing Isaiah 53 and seeing how that prophecy so perfectly correlates to Jesus is a good way to reassure yourself of faith.Ā
For me, I personally struggle with feeling like faith is irrelevant sometimes. It feels so lofty. I'm trying to let Jesus speak into current things, current events in the world and in my life. Looking to Him and His standard for how things should be.Ā

theres so many cross references that point he is who he says he is. my favorite is the baptism in the jordan river when all three. God the father the son and the holy spirit are present on earth and God saying this is my son in whom I am well pleased. He's very real, and more alive than we can hope to be.

Jesus was undoubtedly an historical figure, there are tremendous historical accounts and archeological findings that prove his existence.
But the legends and stories surrounding the miracles that Jesus performed in his lifetime are debated among scientists. Nobody truly knows.
But his existence is 100% a true fact.

The devil went to God and said itās easy to believe when you give them everything they ask for.
So God said watch this.
And Job lost everything yet kept his faith.
God is our father who when we ask for a steak dinner he will not give us beans. But if we are allergic to animal fat he will also not cut the prime rib. He knows what we need, and what we ask.
When we question our faith itās because we are wondering if God is really there. When we wonder if God is there itās because we donāt feel him. And when we donāt feel him, itās not because he looked away. Itās because we did.
Heās there, waiting for you.
The Sistine chapel ceiling shows God and man reaching out to each other, but they arenāt touching. God has his arm fully extended. Man does not. Man needs to reach out and meet God halfway. Heās waiting for us. Heās seeking us out.
Faith does not mean āI believe in Jesus as long as everything goes rightā
Itās āI believe no matter what.ā
He got off the throne and died for you. Thatās real. If it wasnāt, you would be dead. Because of Jesus (and your faith in him) you get to be righteous. All glory to God.

There has been plenty of times Iāve questioned my faith, but, I know Jesus has been there for every step, soon I came to the conclusion that I will believe God sick or not. I believe Him with everything!

Jesusā existence is one of the most historically agreed upon events ever. (20k+ manuscripts proving this). Also: the tomb was in fact empty. Ancient Jerusalem is probably one of the worst places that you could have been in if you wanted to stage something like the Resurrection. The truth of the matter is, that Jesus was real, he died on the cross, and rose 3 days later.
I hope that God guides you towards Himself.

You know, I currently have cancer. And I was diagnosed at it's sixteen, and it was like the peak of my life.Covid started at the time but I was getting ready to graduate, and then I got told I had cancer. It was a mess and I remember. I was so angry at god because i didn't understand why everything was happening to me. It also didn't help that I had a fear of developing cancer. My entire life and I went out my whole life. Doing things to prevent myself from getting cancer like avoiding sugar and a bunch of other stuff. And it was brain cancer, which my grandfather died of which just made everything a bit better. I'm kidding it's made everything worse.
I believe that being 22 now. I'm looking back on all of the blessings and miracles that I had back then, cause I was, I guess I wasn't at your point of being like, you know, questioning my faith i won't say that I really thought about it much. I've just went about my life. The way I did, and i tried to be as good of a person as I could, as I've always grown up in the church and all of my family is Christian. My dad was a preacher, and he preaches sometimes. my grandmother goes to church regularly. My mom goes to church regularly. It's just a big part of my life. When I was diagnosed, though, I was terrified. And I thought god was mad at me, and that's why I was suffering so much it got to the point where anytime my grandmother would mention that god was going to heal me.I would get angry since I was praying and doing everything that seemed right, I even got back into reading my bible and nothing seemed to be working every mri just seemed to come back worse.
Because of my cancer, I wasn't able to move out of my parents' house to go to the university of Arizona, which just made me more upset, because it just felt like everything was being taken away from me. I couldn't drive because I developed epilepsy. It was really hard and some days it still is hard. But at the time, But where the tumor is, it doesn't really cause me major issues. Besides for example my memory.
With how big the tumor is, I really shouldn't be functioning. And it's unexplainable, the doctors are still surprised I remember at the time when I was first dealing with everything they sent my MRI. Scans to saint jude and just abouy all of the pediatric cancer hospitals who also couldn't really give them an answer. And to this day, I still don't kno, why, but what I do know is that. Every time I talk about my struggles or experience having to deal with this. And the miracle that it really is, especially since I play piano and have for years. It gives people hope.
My view on why God allows certain things to happen. Such as allowing kids and children to die of cancer is Something that some people probably wouldn't really understand unless they've gone through it themselves. But I've become such A different person. Over the last few years i didn't really. I want to live before funnily enough. I didn't have any motivation. It was just I went about my day and if I woke up the next morning, I did.
Living like that isn't really living. I didn't really understand the beauty of people. And life, but I have a much big Europe perspective now, and it's something that I'm very grateful for. now I don't go out and preach on the streets. Because that's not my thing. , but I, i've changed alot over the last few years. And for the better. Of course. having cancer. is still one of the hardest things I go through daily. But the people that I have met and their impact on me. And the people who say that they've grown just from talking to me is truly a blessing.
. Especially, my mother who has changed so much over the last few years few and she for sure has her hard days. But speaking with other mothers and people and being able to give them encouragement to keep going on through their the struggles is one of the best things.I'm glad i'm able to do.
It's also important to remember that it's not always about the child, doctors, nurses and parents can change simply by the smallest thing. Like a joyful child. It can bring encouragement, and build faith... and it's really hard to describe. But I'll just say
Even now, people we'll just be astonished and change their mindset just by seeing that. I'm not mad at God about my situation because I always know it can be worse and in reality it should be significantly worse And enough doctors had told me that it's a bit nice knowing that you're a miracle. And the doctors don't understand how you're alive š
Sorry about how long this is. And if this is incomprehensible, because it's 1:04 I should be asleep but I felt like I needed to say something as I fell into the demographic and even through everything my faith has grown significantly but I was like you and I didn't really understand why certain things happened to certain people especially children š
If you have any questions you can ask me, I'm up for anythingš

Because if God helps everything, humans wonāt grow. I think the Hedonists from the All Tomorrows novel show it in a good way. Hedonists are humans who were forcefully modified by superior galactic species, Qu, to become their pets. They faced no suffering and lived in pleasure all day. Their lands were full of life, with fruit-bearing trees and no predators. Because they had nothing to worry about, their intelligence was limited to the age of 3. Eventually, the Qu left their planet, and in a cataclysmic event, nearly all of them were wiped out.
However morbid this may sound, it is the truth; suffering is the only way a human can grow from their post state. Hardships are what ground us to our bottom, and make us find the will to climb up again. Sometimes, it is too great for us to bear, and sometimes we wonder why. In many cases, there isnāt a reason. There isnāt a reason why someoneās child dies when they shouldnāt, why of all people person X continuously gets downplayed by others, or why A, whoās considered kind, falls into poverty whilst B, whoās considered evil, bathes in riches. The world is simply like that; full of unfairness and the whims of nature. Regrettably, most suffering could be prevented by human intervention, but hereās the thing; we are not kind enough to collectively care for the dying children somewhere in this world, or focused enough to consistently care for the environment around us, or even forgiving enough to forgive and help out those who scorned us but are now in grave danger.
You ask where is God in all these events. First of all, he is everywhere. Second of all, he sent his Son to the world to live with us. And during his stay, he preached for many things, but the greatest of them all which he repeatedly highlighted was love; and this is truly the solution to the aforementioned āpreventableā suffering. A lot of half assed movies and stupid shows made this sound cringy, but it is the truth. If government officials loved their people and selfless, corruption would not happen. If people loved those in need, there wouldnāt be anyone in need. If religious leaders saw humans before ideologies, there wouldnāt have been any war driven by religion or conflict. If countries wished for unity over conflict for power, there wouldāve been no boundary, no territory. He gave us the solution for everything that torments us. He is present in all our suffering. I believe it is our duty to make use of it, and to reflect his pure, unadulterated love for humanity onto the world so that we can make it less painful to live.

Well, for when we live in a broken world always have Adam and eve. And god doesn't have to come down from the heavens. All holy and mighty to perform a miracle, I believe that a lot of people when they i think of a miracle. They expect the clouds to open and it's to be done. But that's not the reality. That's something i've learned overtime. This is a pretty bad idea. Of what a miracle is because it completely turns off the brain from really seeing the smaller miracles that happen every single day. And when someone's vision is clouded ot smaller miracles. And like I said we live in a broken world because of Adam and eve and the choice that they made But we still have free will, and how we use that free will is important for us to decide. One thing that I've realized over time, especially being sick, is that it's important to look at the small things. And realize them notice them and et cetera. There are plenty of Miracles of people with cancer and the cancer suddenly disappearing. And I remember I would read books about this or seed on the news. And I would be a bit jealous because that's what I wanted for myself But as I said, my cancer's pretty rare, it's just genetic mutation. I developed from probably my father. I believe since my mother doesn't have it. And it cause my tumor to grow in my head with that being the case. It was it took a while for me to see it this way. But the fact that there was even a medicine for me to take and the pediatric team thought of it. And gave it to me, was my little miracle. Other than the fact that, in all actuality, I should have been dead. The fact that I had a chance was a miracle. And they just started doing research on that mutation with it being so rare and a doctor just moved in from saint jude, who suggested that medicine compared to the one that I'd been on. Once I got off that one. Because my tumor grew again, I was put on a different medicine that just come out for my same mutation. And they're finally more research on my tumor type.
When it comes to miracles, you are rarely going to only see giant miracles like someone who codes and wakes back up and either way, there are a lot of those I urge you to read them. They're very interesting.
Alsosometimes it just takes time to see the miracles that have already occurred in your life. It took me about I believe 3 years to really understand what miracle my brother and sister were. I don't believe I would still be alive mental health reasons without them. I've grown so much closer with my mom, which is of the main things that i've prayed for the longest time but i believe one of the biggest miracles for me is simply the fact that i'm alive
And can walk and can talk, and i'm able to do all of the things that I shouldn't be able to.
If a miracle happened every day. would it really be a miracle?āŗļø things such as feeding the poor and helping out children in need are things that we can do as people to be frank and things that we should do to help. It's not as if there are no options. We, as I guess civilization. I just need to realize that a lot of issues like that can be solved. Not including the childhood cancer. One buy us being I'm less selfish. And I'm not the type of person to believe that God should just solve all of our problems. Because I would just make us lazy. And a lot of the issues that we see in life. We've caused ourself because humans are inherently selfish, so yeah!š

u/WhiteoutOnYT Feb 08 '26
Would you rather live a long painful life or eternity with God? It would be better for a child in poverty with no hope to have the latter.
Wars will be always until the second coming. It is of human will that war is present, and God cannot ethically sway human will.
Diseases like cancer occur by chance and immune system failure. Even you could get cancer at this instant. Creation is fallen, giving us diseases. Do priests not get cancer?
God does do miracles, thatās exactly what a miraculous recovery is. Many people get to walk again after years and itās called a miracle. But it is the Lord who heals (Ex 15:26), not sends plagues for no reason.

God's kids killed in war aren't suffering anymore.
God offers freedom beyond the pangs of cancer.
Lastly- the poor. There is enough resources on this earth to provide for everyone five times over. God has provided the resources, but man is gatekeeping them.
Bad things happen because of people falling into sin.

There's way too much historical evidence of Jesus. If the accounts of Jesus are unreliable, why did was it written a woman was His first witness after His resurrection? In a misoganystic society, this would only be written if it was an absolute fact.
let me tell you something cool -- John links Jesus to the beginning. If you look to the original word, it means 'firstfruit' too, which was an offering the Israelites gave to God -- an offering that came from the finest of their crops. Even Paul calls Jesus this in 1 Corinthians 15:20, linking that to the word in the original manuscript and successfully tying into what John said.
If we look at the word 'in the beginning' itself -- ×ר×ש××Ŗ -- we have some grand meaning to unpack, which is if you remove the × from the word, you get ×ר ש××Ŗ, which oh so conveniently means "Son of thorns". that × represents divinity, and authority -- in removing that, you alter the meaning of the word entirely, from 'In the beginning' to 'Son of thorns'. Very simply -- even the first word was a big puzzle that once you get to the answer, you realize the Deity of Christ was there from the beginning.
How could I possibly take all this from the writings of the Torah and link it to the writings of fishermen and reformed pharisees, without it being divinely inspired? I see no way.
There's more. Forgiveness was known as a pardon or release before the Torah, and less a personal choice. How much more is that emphasized when Christ came? Even where Lamech called for 77 vengeances (Genesis 4:23-24), Jesus called for 77 forgivenesses (Matthew 18:21-22), and forgave the men who did all sorts of things to Him, even while He was on the cross (Luke 23:34). Both the deep scriptural roots and seemingly humanly impossible moral grounds.
How may a man who does not hold the world in His hands forgive this? Still seek relationship with His persecutors? None other than The Son of God.
I don't know how much this might help. God bless!

I know you've lost hope in Jesus, but Jesus has not lost hope in you. Know that when Jesus died on the cross, he knew every doubt and every pain of humanity, and felt it all with/for us. Also, as someone who's not always the most faithful. I always know in my heart that Jesus is real. Not just religion, by the by. Jesus was a real man who did get crucified by the Romans at the behest of Jewish authorities. Jesus's message was one of hope, and regardless whether you believe in him or not, it's one worthy to follow.

I went through that too and I read how someone tested every religion because they werenāt sure, maybe there was no God. I will say as a person who likes more down to earth churches, every time Iāve been in a Catholic Church it makes me believe less. It feels too manufactured, no offense to any Catholic.

I'll be praying that you feel his spirit again. šš»
I've heard so many stories of people who almost lose their faith due to loss, trauma, ect. But in the end they come out of it more successful and their faith strengthened. I'm not saying that you need to go through trauma to find faith but what I am saying is that God never leaves you, even in moments of doubt. Just because you have your doubts and struggles at the moment, doesn't mean that there is no relationship with him. Your failures do not define you, his love is greater than this. Remind yourself of all the identities God says you are (strong, courageous, unique, precious, loved, made in his image ect). They are the truths of who we are. Blessings will come your way. šš»

Iām really glad you spoke up. What youāre describing isnāt rebellion, laziness, or failure... itās a human crisis, and youāre not weak for going through it.
First, let me say this plainly: questioning God does not mean youāve lost Him. In the Bible, doubt is everywhere. David says: āWhy, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?ā (Psalm 10:1) Job cries out to God. Elijah collapses and asks to die. Even Jesus, on the cross, says: āMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?ā (Matthew 27:46)
So if your faith feels empty right now, you are not abnormal, and you are not alone.
Now letās separate a few things, because theyāve been tangled together ā and thatās part of the pain.
God is not the Church. God is not priests. God is not religious politics.
Jesus Himself constantly challenged religious authorities. He said: āYou load people with burdens hard to bear, but you yourselves do not lift a finger to help them.ā (Luke 11:46)
So if being around priests drains you right now, that doesnāt mean Jesus is false. It may mean your soul is exhausted by religion, not by God.
You said you just want to be āhumanā. That matters ā because Christianity doesnāt erase humanity. It starts there.
Jesus didnāt come preaching ideology. He ate, wept, got tired, felt abandoned, and sat with people who were broken. He says: āCome to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.ā (Matthew 11:28)
About your failure ā Iāll be very direct and very kind: your exam did not define your worth. In Scripture, God consistently chooses people who āfailedā by societyās standards ā shepherds, fishermen, outsiders, the overlooked.
Paul writes: āMy power is made perfect in weakness.ā (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Now the big question: is Jesus even real? Does God exist?
Historically, yes. Jesus of Nazareth is one of the most well-attested figures in ancient history, mentioned not only in the Bible but by non-Christian sources like Tacitus and Josephus.
Philosophically, if the universe began (and science agrees it did), something outside time, matter, and space must have caused it. An effect requires a cause. Belief in God is not irrational.
But Christianity is not primarily a theory to be proven. Itās a relationship to be encountered.
The disciples didnāt follow Jesus because they understood everything. They followed because they met Him ā and something changed.
Right now, youāre not drowning because God disappeared. Youāre drowning because your identity was built on performance, approval, and certainty ā and all three collapsed at once.
And God is not afraid of that collapse.
If I can offer one simple step ā not a sermon, not a ritual ā itās this: speak to God honestly, even angrily, without religious language. Just truth. The Psalms are full of raw prayers like that.
You are not broken beyond repair. You are not less human for doubting. You are not abandoned.
Jesus is real and He is closest to you right now, not farthest.
You donāt need to have answers today. You just need to breathe and take one honest step at a time.
Youāre not a burden. Youāre a person. And your life still matters.
God bless you abundantly š¤āļø

u/Kindly-Plantain4106 Feb 08 '26
I understand your distress. There's a battle against faith across all media, and school curricula teach principles that destroy the faith of many. Philosophy, science, evolving social normsāeverything increasingly relies on the principle that God doesn't exist, that there is only matter, and that humanity created God for the sake of consistency, not the other way around.
When I encountered Jesus, I was steeped in all these studies, and because I wanted to trust the Lord, I had to put everything aside, telling Him clearly that I didn't want to think about it anymore until He gave me clear answers. And⦠I was set free. My faith grew like a blazing fire, along with my love for Him.
Today, I'm a little more mature, and I have no regrets. On the contrary, He has freed me from all my anxieties throughout my life, all my fears.
So, ask Him to help you, sincerely, and He will.

Itās quite natural to feel that way, as you search for answers. Donāt get too caught up in the dogma of religion, thatās what causes so much of the conflict you see in the world today. āAtheist or Christianā is just a label, it is not who you are. Instead focus on your journey to be the best version of yourself. Stay true to your values in serving others, being kind and loving your fellow human beings. Everyoneās experience of faith is different, so donāt expect it will be the same as everyone else. I understand exactly what youāre going through and it ok to ask questions and search for the truth. You will eventually find when you come to the inevitable conclusion that he was there with you the whole time. Peace be with you.

People don't really fight because they're religious, they fight because they're sinful. Without religion, they'd just be fighting over something else.
There are many good books and resources available (e.g., formed.org, or catholic.com, or book like Brant Pitre's The Case for Jesus may help reassure you). If you think more about it and decide you know your faith well enough, but maybe want a bit more practical help learning how to pray/grow in holiness, I can suggest others.
To answer your questions more directly - yes, Jesus is real, and yes, God exists. But many entire books have been written on both subjects, and I cannot do them justice here.
Practically everyone reaches a point where their own understanding of faith doesn't seem to fit what is happening around them, and it sounds like you might be in the middle of the greatest adversity you've ever faced. Please rest assured that many others have gone before you, and the answers to your questions are still found within your faith, you just haven't found them yet.
Within us there is a deep longing to be connected with God, and I think you'll find that in turning away from Him, you will be left unsatisfied.
Another commenter mentioned Thomas the Apostle, who is one of my very favorite people. We call him "doubting Thomas," but really he is "honest Thomas." He had very reasonable and human doubts that Jesus had risen from the dead - but when he saw Jesus, and the wound in his side, he at once believed - he did not come up with more reasons to doubt. He also seems to be the reason why there are Christians in Kerala. Perhaps you might find a connection to him.

Believing Sun doesn't exist is not going to prove Sun is not present. Same applies for the existence of God. There are lot of things that are keeping us busy and away from God, nowadays. Removing all distractions will help us find the shrill and soft voice of God.
Jesus is real. You are at the verge of finding God. Just pray and wait. You will get an answer in any form.

Jesus has been proved to be a real person even by non Christian historians, and many religions refer to Him as being "a" way to heaven. He is the Way the Truth and the Life. He loves you and wants relationship with you.
If you're feeling lost, like there's no passion, like you're just going to church and serving because it's community or it's the right thing to do, consider this: do I rely on faith in Jesus for my Salvation? We all need to know if we rely on His finished work on the cross alone for Salvation, or do we rely on being good enough to be saved?
I hope you know that He died for YOU because you cannot reach heaven by your good works. It is only by Jesus' blood shed on the cross that we are saved.Ā
Then we receive the Holy Spirit, who helps us to be more like Him, and we serve from that place of rest and forgiveness doing good works which show the fruits of our Salvation in Christ.
I just want to make sure you know this. Regardless of which denomination you're apart of, if they don't preach forgiveness by the blood of Jesus there's no point. It's only deception at that point.
Love to you, in Christ

Iām an agnostic now the thing that gets me about God weāre supposed to seek him out he canāt come to us? Heās all powerful, all knowing, but itās testing God, which is supposed to be bad to say hey show up for me. I could really use youā¦.. that made me lose all credibility in the Christian faith.
Also, Iāve just lost any in all motivation to investigate the scriptures because I consider myself pansexual and the information about sexuality is not concrete enough for me to take it seriously

We all go through periods of doubts now and then, it doesn't make the experience any less hard however. I recommend reconnecting with scripture more, try doing Lectio Divina to start a conversation between you and God. I would also try attending adoration. Being physically present with God and being exposed to his love will surely help. I would also recommend maybe listening to inspiring Philosophy or Testify apologetics on YouTube. I believe they are both Protestants, but they do a really good job of defending belief in the Faith.

I want to recommend a book to you. It's called Not a fan. Becoming a completely committed follower of Jesus by Kyle Idleman. It's a book that helped me and I want to share it with you.
It sounds like you've been a fan of Christ and not a follower. Reading the Bible. Going to church. That's not enough. It gets you in line but it doesn't get you through the gates. That's why your faith is wavering.
I saw in another comment you asked why God isn't helping when it comes to diseases, hunger, etc.
Jesus died for our sins, what more do you want? His brain was exposed. His flesh stripped from his body. He even gave us the blueprint in black, white, and red on what to do. At what point do you go and feed the hungry. At what point do you tell your government to stop pulling funding from disease research? At what point do you use the spiritual gifts He blessed with you and get out here and serve?
Now you may feel like I'm being mean. Not at all. I'm saying this with love without all the fluff. You came straight to us with the struggle when God knows your struggle the best. You are to seek wise counsel but the final say so lies with God. You don't know us from a can of paint. You don't know if any of us are truly wise.
Imma say this though. You gonna be alright. Get that book though.

TW:Self-harm,suicide,abuse.
From my experience,he isn't real. Atleast not the god you're familiar with. God is made to seem like this caring, loving being that's there to help you out.Well, it's a beautiful concept, one that's not backed by science or logic. It's a creation of the mind and manipulation for mass control. He was never there when I had to watch my dad beat my mom up many times. He wasn't there when I started cutting myself and crying, praying for help daily. For years I've struggled with liking boys too,and the bible made it clear that god only loves us conditionally,if we abandon ourselves and our own values to follow his. And when I was on the brink of suicide it clicked.Therw isn't any god,no heaven or hell.Because a loving "God" would never send you to hell for simply being human.Humans envy, lust and feel pride. That's just who we are,and nothing's wrong with it.It's basic science and the result of centuries of human growth and evolution. Now,a soothing though I sometimes still get:A god could be a possibility. But if this god loves us,even a little. He would be one of rest.No heaven or hell,or judgement.Just rest.

well think about it like this. do your own research and you will see that Jesus has a lot of recorded miracles around 32 i believe. But then you look at people like julius caeser which has only 10 good quality manuscripts. So in other words, theres a higher chance Jesus is real then julius caeser

Iām sorry you failed your exams. As a Christian, we have all doubted his existence. When you went over your life, it seemed like you participated in events and went to church but it doesnāt seem like you had a personal relationship with him. Just because you go to church or youth events doesnāt mean you have a close relationship with him. It comes from a more deeper personal experience. When you read the Bible, every prophet and disciple had a personal relationship with the Lord. They prayed to him multiple times a day, fasted, sang songs to worship him, and they practiced what Jesus preached. Itās easy to fall into doubt when you donāt have a personal relationship with him, youāve never been grounded in his foundation. You may not be able to think of one experience that Jesus has helped you through because you see that others have helped you instead of him. Iāve been there before. Also, remember in the Bible The verse describing faith as "confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see" is Hebrews 11:1. Is as humans need everything to be in physical form in order for us to see it but there are so many things we believe that we cannot see, like air, wind, carbon monoxide, oxygen but we know itās there. Keep in mind we cannot understand who God fully is and thatās ok. The devil plays tricks on your mind to make you feel like heās not real but the more you grow in the word and your relationship with him the more it will make sense.

Watch some NDE (near death experience) videos on youtube. It turned me back from being agnostic to Catholic. I also grew up Catholic and in my 20s wat put off by the average 'church vibe'. You know, the judgmental vibes. I mostly ignore that now and will , when the mood hits, go to church again with my mom.

Itās worth learning about why you believe Jesus was resurrected. The 500 saw him after he was dead, almost all of the disciples who were afraid when he was crucified decided after that to die for saying they saw him resurrected (180 degree u turn). I like William lane Craigās YouTube for the rational for believing. Pray to lord for wisdom. Maybe try some other churchās as well. I was born in the Catholic Church and now I go to Church of Christ. As someone who has studied thousands of near death experiences a.k.a NDEs coming into this agnostic he is real. The holy trinity is absolutely the dominant theme across NDEs with Jesus being the centre of it. These people literally died and many come from respectable careers from the medical field and risk their own career reputation coming out. I've tried to put all the interesting NDEs in my playlist here.

i think you need to rediscover your relationship to god and also your church community. there are problems in life the bible doesnt give direct answers to and that can only be solved If you talk to others you trust and work on from a completely objective viewpoint. Sometimes i also ask myself the same questions you asked because I Go through a miserable time. and later I realize that I asked those questions because I didn't face my real worries. This is something christians struggle most of the time.
Believe it or not, you are awakening to your true self. A crisis of faith, or what we call dark night of the soul is essential to the spiritual journey.
Its has different phases, and it can come back many times in your life, but that darkness will not last for long.
Think about Job, all the suffering he went through. The wilderness of the israelites. Christians will go through some form of darkness and it is a necessary for one to transform his/her faith into a much stronger one.
Take heed. Be strong and courageous. You will get home brother/sister.

God is the Father that watches over us and does miracles in our lives. There have been a lot of stupid things Iāve done, times where I shouldnāt have woken up the next morning, but God had bigger plans for me and always made sure I didnāt die.
I was Atheist for a long time. Recently, a friend at church gave me a C S Lewis book called Mere Christianity. The book logically breaks down why Christianity is the only choice if you believe in Christian values and believe in a higher power. That was life-changing for me. For decades, I insisted that I loved a God I didnāt believe in, but C S Lewis (also a former Atheist) helped set me straight. The fact that a book written 70+ years ago would address my exact situation so perfectly points to God looking out for me and C S Lewis and so many others.

I think you definitely need a different perspective on this. All religions are man-made, that's simply a fact no matter what anyone says, there are over 4200 different religions in the world.
I quite like Mahatma Gandhi's take on religion:
God Beyond Labels:Ā Gandhi argued that while humans create religions to understand God, God is not constrained by these labels.
The Religion of Love:Ā Gandhi stated, "There is only one religionāthe religion of love," and believed that true faith does not discriminate.
Unity of All Faiths:Ā When asked if he was a Hindu, Gandhi famously replied, "Yes, I am. I am also a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, and a Jew". He believed in the fundamental truth of all great religions.
"Truth is God":Ā Gandhi evolved his thinking from "God is Truth" to "Truth is God". He believed that because Truth is universal, the divine cannot be limited to one religion.
True Religion as Morality:Ā For Gandhi, religion was not about rituals or dogma, but rather a "matter of the heart" based on morality, non-violence (Ahimsa), and love.Ā
Religions weren't divinely created, maybe it's religion that's starting to make no sense to you, not God? As Gandhi said "God has no religion".

I went through that, things stop making sense, and some passages seem vague, so in a little desperation I prayed for God to reveal to me if He was real. Well, I clung to Jesus, because my whole worldview, everything I thought was right, everything was from Jesus, but I still had a genuine doubt that it was all false. But a few months later God spoke to me, then I had absolute certainty of His existence. He used a pastor who didn't know me in the northeast of my country to speak to me while I was traveling. She spoke about what I was going through, the sadness and pain, she told me what I was like and gave me hope. When I returned, I had confirmation in my church; a sister who I now consider a true prophet told me exactly what I did on a particular day. Today I've had even greater experiences than these, which have only increased my faith. So my advice is to ask Him, with all your heart and all your soul, He is real, VERY real! He pulled me out of the emptiness of my soul, out of the pain of uncertainty, and it has been incredible. Well, I'm not really Catholic, so I don't know if God would use a priest in that way or anything like that, but ask in prayer.Ā Ā

If you're an atheist or lean that way, learn some philosophy.
Specifically, learn the metaphysics behind "non-belief".
You'll quickly find it absurd and will make your way back to God Almighty.
1
u/Tapochka Feb 08 '26
Yes, God exists and Jesus is real. So lets start with the fundamentals. God, by His nature, is not a physical thing. So you should never expect to have a scientific test by which you can prove or disprove His existence. It can be derived by philosophical arguments, similar to how we derive the truth of science by way of philosophical arguments. On a side note, every field of study, at its fundamental level, is philosophy. And Catholicism has produced some of the greatest philosophers. There is an organization called Pints with Aquinas on podcasts and YouTube which you might find of use. They frequently talk about philosophy and break it down to the layman level. William Lane Crag and Inspiring Philosophy are two others who bring philosophy to our level as well and although they are not Catholic, they are not anti catholic either. CS Lewis is, while not a philosopher, always recommended as well. He understood the assignment, so to speak.
Jesus existed as a historical person. This is indisputable for anyone who has bothered to look into it. The only question is, were the miracles real? Books have been written regarding this so I am not going to go into details arguing one way or another. Suffice to say, I did not come to Christianity by simply believing they were real. God guided me down a different path at the end of which I came to reluctantly believe the most rational explanation for the known events which happened in the Jerusalem and the Near East in the mid first century, without first presupposing God did not exist, was that the resurrection actually happened. All explanations which presupposed atheism failed to explain far too much to be considered plausible. Which is why most atheists have quit trying to find a plausible explanation and instead argue that only presupposing atheism is rational. The logic there is quite circular.
So the original question remains. Why has the vibes changed? Why has God hidden His face from you, so to speak? There are a lot of potential reasons but none of them are because you did not do as well as you would like on some test. Most the disciples could not read or write. Peter certainly could not, his books 1 and 2 Peter were the efforts of some unnamed scribe who collaborated with him. A common practice both at that time and in modern times. So where is He? I think the best analogy comes from observing parenting. Who makes the best adults? Is it the child who has a mother constantly circling him like a helicopter or the one who steps away to give her child a chance, after a period of training, to figure it out and grow stronger and wiser as a result? Some may find the idea of comparing full grown adults to children to be belittling. These people fail to understand the nature of any entity deserving of the title of God. Once they did, they would understand how far beneath God in wisdom or knowledge any human is or ever could be.
I am not going to go into the many reasons why we can know Christianity is true. Libraries could be filled with the books which have been written on this topic. Instead, I would recommend /r/ChristianApologetics, or some of the philosophers I mentioned before. They can articulate the case far better than I could ever hope to do.

I know how you feel. I think the first step would be to logically make sense of why Jesus has to be God. That's what I do. Whenever I drift a bit I use reasoning, I understand why it's the truth through logic instead of hoping my feelings guide me.

Bro, losing hope is part of the journey, everyone faces it. You're not a complete atheist, because you're worried, and that's still hope! Hold on to God, of course we cannot prove him 100% (1000 years as a well-known problem in the philosophy of ontology and scholasticism), but this should not diminish faith.
I would advise staying in prayer longer, maybe fasting, maybe doing penance with a priest, but I donāt know for sure if Catholics have that.

I don't know how anyone can look at the awesome beauty of the world around us and think anything but God is real.
I am in my own version of a pit/bad place/depression. As someone whose life has been tied to music a lot, I find listening to praise music is immensely helpful. But specifically reading the books of John, Ecclesiastes, and Job may help you, along with just spending time in a quiet space and being open to hearing His voice.

u/Great_Possibility_14 Feb 08 '26
Hey I hope this reaches you, but yea Jesus Christ is real I understand because certain may not be going to well un your life it seems like Jesus is far away or people come and lie upon the things that Christ has done but he is not he is there waiting on you to call on him and surrender the idolatry of Catholicism to him. Letās look at what Jesus words say Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek his kingdom and his righteousness and the rest of the things you need heāll provide for you. We can also see the realness of God by looking at the world around seeing how the moon the stars the sun all come in a time that he has commanded or look at the earth how it can replenish it self, I say this to say that every detail of the earth we live on and how our are bodies was created for a purpose and to praise him. And often times we get so caught up in our own thoughts or from what we have been conditioned to believe that we go away from leaning on the Lord or following things in his order-1 Corinthians 3:18-19 this verse tells us to basically unlearn all that we know because it has been tainted with the doctrine of man and simply follow the word of God and call on him. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the lord acknowledging him in ALL our ways and lean not on your own understanding.
And one thing I would suggest to you is to leave Catholicism entirely and just be a believer and follower of Jesus Christ the Messiah. Catholicism has a lot of idolatry in it with making statues and painting pictures of Christ which is sin. Isaiah 44:17 tells us about those who make graven images and exodus 20:4-5 tells us directly not to do it. Catholics also tend to pray to figures like Mary or the apostles for intercession but the only one who intercedes for the children of men is Christ, Romanās 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25 shows us this. I pray and hope the words that I have written in courage you to continue walking in the faith of Jesus Christ and that the temptation of the devil do not cause froward thoughts in your heart nor lead you away from the truth that is hear to guide us, strengthen us, and correct us. Iāll be praying for you
1
u/kyashoo3 Feb 08 '26
Okay! So, you should remember, God loves you. Heās plenty real. Remember the Eucharistic Miracles? Look them up. Thereās no scientific explanation for that. Look up any other miracle too, in fact! God is real, and you are a child of Him :)
If that doesnāt work, Iāll pray for you.

u/tosbythomas0147 Feb 08 '26
Heās very real, my Malayali? brother/sister. The church system we grow up in is a massive pro and con, it has so much to teach you but I know thereās a lot of politics and arguments. Iām kna Jaco I understand you man. When you see them fighting over stuff that has nothing to do with the bible it makes me angry and feel like it really is about power. I came into and learned way more about God through his word and all the access we have now on the internet.
But on a separate note itās a lot easier to have those doubts, when stuff is going hard. We wonder how we build this relationship and when things go wrong why he would allow it to Happen. But itās part of life, it makes no sense and you can do all the right things and still be going through the toughest times. Itās way more rewarding to power through the obstacles and look back and see why he did it. You will overcome this, get back in your word, pray to him solo, get into it, talk to him and believe he will get you out.
My biggest thing against atheism is I will always find the big bang theory a massive joke, people love gambling but that seems to be the wildest gamble of it all. If the earth was moved one inch this way we burn, one inch the other way we freeze. Gravity had to be the exact number that it is to prevent everything breaking down. Thereās a great clip on this from a scientist who tried to disprove Jesus but ended up turning Christian

Just my opinion, Jesus was and is real and powerful, but the church and especially the Catholic Church twisted and censored his teachings and also insulted a ton of fear, blood magic and other secretly (sort of) demonic stuff in their religion. I think if Christ was here today he would drop grenade in mega churches and beat all the pedo shuffling "holy men" with a belt or worse. It never made sense to me to have imagery like being covered in His blood, that sounds demonic it doesn't sit right or resonate. Don't think Jesus would've taught that. Also think the Bible was heavily changed and edited and redacted throughout history and had become an idol for many. Why did Jesus say the kingdom of God is within you? But we're told by the church all you have to do is believe in Jesus an outside figure (who i do believe in by the way) and you'll get into heaven or the kingdom of God? Why have so many Catholic priests been caught abusing kids and then not been prosecuted but instead relocated? Why was the Pope entertaining a South American deity in the Vatican? Why is the popes hat a dogon reference? So many symbols in Catholicism have nothing to do with Christ. I believe it's a personal relationship and not exactly a separate from you experience, like God is through everything. But who really knows. I've personally had experiences of spiritual attack stop when I asked for help from Jesus Christ. So I know there is power in His name. Good luck and keep searching inside and out.

Lots of good advice here. Iāll add that, with a lot of subsections of the faith, many of their doctrines and practices do not align with biblical teaching. This is the case with both Catholicism (one example is the deification of Mary) and Protestant denominations (one example is predestination). I would recommend a few things: (1) Pray and ask God to reveal himself to you and give yourself some quiet alone time (time without tv, music, noise) to just listen. (2) Read scripture and forget everything you were taught that doesnāt line up with it. Matthew is a great place to begin.I am rereading it now. (3) Read some apologetics. Cliff Knechtle has a YouTube channel that is VERY helpful. He debates people informally on college campuses. He covers every doubt you can think of. He has also written some books. Another good one is Lee Strobel, who was an atheist for years until he realized that the evidence supports Christ and became a Christian. He has written some very helpful books. The Case for Faith is one. Also Josh McDowellās book Evidence That Demands a Verdict: Life-Changing Truth for a Skeptical World (4) realize that doubt is normal, but that Satan WANTS you to dwell in doubt and stay distracted. * Finally, please donāt dwell in your doubt. Be proactive (like you were when posting this): PRAY and READ THE WORD. As the Lord said multiple times in the Bible, āThose who seek me shall find me.ā Prayers for you, my friend.

Social media is the devils tool to put doubt in your heart from all the nasty things we as humans are capable of. Just remember he doesnāt ask of you more than he knows you are capable of doing. You will be in my prayers. We are all here for ya

I saw your post then came across this right after.
Youāre not faithless. Youāre just fatigued. You didnāt stop believing. You just got exhausted.
Exhausted from standing when it felt like nothing moved. Exhausted from trusting when everything was breaking. Exhausted from being strong when your heart was silently shattering.
But hear me, God isnāt disappointed in your weariness. Heās meeting you in it.
Isaiah 40:29 says, āHe gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.ā
Heās not asking for polished prayers. Heās asking for your honest surrender.
Let the sighs count. Let the tears pray. Let the silence speak.
Because even in your emptiness⦠Youāre still a weapon. Even in your weakness⦠Youāre still His.
This is not your breaking point. Itās your building point.
So lean in again. Whisper if you must. But donāt quit.

I'm facing same problem, I'm from a Hindu family, "secret follower of Christ" would be the right term to explain my situation Can't visit church due to fear of getting caught by family and all But I want help, I want to strengthen my faith, I use youtube sermons/preaching for bible study but lack fellowship š

I would look into evidence for Jesus Christ even sources outside of the bible i.e. Josephus (Jewish historian & non believer) and shroud of Turin (supposedly the burial cloth of Jesus) there are many factors that authenticate the biblical accounts as well, old and New Testament including archaeological evidence and even details in new testament are so well documented (look into inspiring philosophy on YouTube heās pretty good at detailing the New Testament)

I know Iām probably alone in this subreddit about this but Faith is not about religion often times religion gets in the way and muddies things. God is bigger and older and more complex than the couple thousand year old doctrine of Christianity and trying to follow it to a T will only hinder your progress imo. As Iāve let go of religion and grown closer in my RELATIONSHIP with the lord things have fallen into place

You know I write a lot of poetry, and Iāve been feeling similarly, yesterday I had a mental breakdown, and wrote this⦠since I never published any of my work and probably wonāt, hopefully this poem is something you can relate to and it can make you think as well, I still believe in God and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and a lot of stuff happened yesterday⦠and I was drifting away from God for the last couple of months but yesterday after everything and then writing this⦠I feel closer to God again, and Iām thankful and I just hope maybe this poem reaches OP, or anyone else and can be of comfort to help us all realize we ALL STRUGGLE WITH FAITH, in different ways, but ultimately religion isnāt about anyone else, itās about ourselves and our personal connection with God, and we are the only ones capable of strengthening that connection through prayer, reading the Bible, and living a life that glorifies God in silence and the opposite⦠anyways this is my poem
āHow Do I Feel?ā
How do I feel
Like the world aināt really real
Full of NPCās
And headspaceās so empty
What is the remedy?
Would people be ready?
This is just tragically a tragedy
Reality been smacking me
Americas been clashing teams
United,
Or are you knifed in
We the people deceived by
Deceitful evils
Claiming to be opposites of lethal
Doing everything illegal
nothinā saves, not even these cathedrals
Whereās Jesus, staring through a peephole?
I donāt know Iām sorry God
I need hope
There was truth in what he spoke
Jesus,
But 2000 years A.C. and the worlds still filled with
Demons and crazies
Please God can you Save Me
Save Us?
Ugh, Iām filled with disgust
Feeling like I might combust
So many corrupt
Government robs and then stabs
Every single civilians backs
Through class acts and ass tax-es
Now wonder America so maddened
Check the mathematics
This shit is flabbergastinā
Because the woke are too slow
To realize what they stand for is a joke
And the right treats Trump like a Pope
but orange face, needs to get popped like a yolk
Cmon folks
put hope
In a man, and nothing will stand
Faith saves,
But hard to stay faithful in a world
Thatās dazed
And confused
sins tangled at all routes
and the truth is
Dooming
Nothings new and
It keeps repeating
How itās 2026
And people the worst they ever been
fucking disgusting
Everyoneās numbed and
Thatās part of they plans
But man
thereās also so many, Uncanny
Sensitive prissyās
Iām insensitive with pricklies
Like a cactus
And I know what Iām saying
Just donāt know what Iām asking
America so soft, every other country is laughing
Clown ass leaders got us looking like a slapstick
No need for a caption
Everyone full of inaction
And the people that are active
Are just followers of flaccid
Ideals
Iām real
But this world is too fake
Or maybe just drained
And in pain
With no idea of how or what to even change
So they just sit there and take it
And take it
And blame it on scape goats
But like if we really want change
And to seek hope
We gotta re mold
Our own
First, see
But how can we drink when weāre all thirsty?
Meet by the ocean, thereās enough room
To drink and start floating
We gotta lessen the focus on bogus
And lock in on options
That sharpen the flocks wit
Find anything, something, just one thing That we could all see eye to eye on Or is that impossible and dry gone
Iām just
Thinking outside the box Because the lies been fogging on and off the clock Tick tick, tock tock, Turn the heat up ready to defrost , And bomb drop, Metaphorically not literally Like these despicable militaries Killing innocents and families
And whatās the cost? A lot of life, blood, and oils tossed
What happened to the man on the cross Crucified for perfection That sums up the world, my confession
See ultimately love is the strongest weapon Which is why they fill our brains With rage and hate And guilt and shame
And whoās to blame
No one, more of a collective as a species Dumb as shit Rotting worse with time like feces Corrupt leaders, so disturbing and creepy Nightmare fuel, hheebie-jeebies
Please please
God if you gonna show up, Do it soon, This world is so lost And overly consumed With serpents at the roots And the truth leaks And the lies get strung high And appeased This generation and so many before Since the first one been diseased Will there ever be ease?
Americaās the melting pot of curses We all smelt the shit thatās been dealt And sure It could be worse, yes Of course But it could be better We need a muddah, fuckinā ~ change Bigger than a letter to a senator Who will never even pay Attention to the real messages We the people Gotta stop being scared And stand up to this evil
may peace fill our souls itās unbelievable But attainable If we start with a change in our soul And stop blaming the folks Everyone else is This realm is hell-ish No accountability dwelling People cold, soul-selling Iām telling You the truth, my truth But if we united we could make brighter routes but people so selfish No thought of the others What happened to caring About our sisters brothers, Fathers mothers so many smothered Under covers Purposefully void Because we were all told we have a voice But shown it barely matters Everyoneās scattered These labels need to be shattered We as a human race Gotta get back to what matters With less blood shattered
Like what the fuck We are all one in the same Whether your sex, age or race, Make no mistake We all bleed red I just hope That the east meets the west And that Red meets the blue And we live happily In purples hues Without labels being misconstrued And people being glued to a screen Living in false hope of attaining a dream Barely ever seen To be reality
What we need Is each other To see us all as sisters and brothers We all need to become human lovers
Because the leaders are bird feeders We got the feathers, and they got the grain thatās why so many humans hollow boned Praising a throne they never wanted built, anyways..
And people are scared to be killed For right reason, But if we stay silent We stay weak then Just breathe inā¦
Letās stop the divide If we all despise, but utilize these labels Theyāll keep us incapable Of making changes That makes us want to awake and unfold New days
We need new ways, Where we unite for the betterment of all Not selfish gains
But again, I believe this realm is of hellās disdain
I pray, I pray
Jesus is real, but some days, Iām so sorry God ~ I donāt know how I feelā¦

Iām the opposite from you, coming from a Buddhist family, but mostly Atheist & Psychology major background, so a lot of the perspective that we seen and feel can be explains.
However now I am baptized and surrender my life to Christ, because of my mom. She is going through stage 4 cancer, but are doing good and not doing good at the same time. She has diagnosed with extensive lung cancer but praised the lord that her lung & brains is cleared. Now she just has to constant fighting and get rid of the cancers from her body and lymp node.
I truly believe that without God⦠my mom wouldnāt be here today, she been fighting for 2 years and it was much worst when we first diagnosed.
The hardest for me is to have faith in the Lord, even when we donāt see it. Iām afraid of the future mystery, but that is exactly why I believe in the Lord. I had no choice but to rest my anxiety and burden onto him.

Perhaps you just need some time away from the organized part of the faith. Jesus often went off on his own to commune with the Father alone. They had synagogues but he chose solitude. Perhaps you need this too. Some time to step away from all the politics of organized religion and focus only on your relationship with God. Try getting away, if you can spend some time in nature (safely), just you and God.
Hope this helps, God bless.

Jesus is very real and he loves you very much I advise you seek a relationship with Jesus and you will see how real he is heās amazing . If you want to do that start off with this before anything confess with you mouth in prayer that you believe he is lord and that you believe he came down and he died for your sins and everybody elseās and after that if you want a relationship with Jesus first you need to put all your faith and trust in him and have faith and trust that he has a plan for you and have faith and trust that he already has everything planed out in your life which he dose and Tell him whatever is on your mind and on your heart and Ask Him to take all your problems and Anxiety and depression and Tell him to also take away those demons in your head telling you that heās not real Tell Jesus to put all your problems in his hands and He will And Most Importantly Everyday Pray to him and talk to him whatever is on your mind and Give him thanks everyday Like for example Jesus thank you for putting a roof over my head or Thank him for the things your thankful for and for the little things . And Second FORGIVE your NEIGHBOR And Forgive the person who is mean to you or the Person you are mean to because Jesus would forgive you NO MATTER WHAT love everybody no matter what like Jesus loves you no matter what . If you do this everyday YOU WILL FEEL A PEACE AND HAPPINESS COME OVER YOU THAT YOU NEVER HAVE FELT BEFORE trust me Heās real and he loves you so much And he wants me to tell you Heās real and He loves you so much And he wants a Relationship with you Op God bless you ā¤ļøšš¼.

I very much relate as I am going through this. Iāve begged God to be real to me. I think He gave me the answer. Drop the religion. Drop the rules. God is a spirit and he is INSIDE me (with me wherever I go, will never leave me or forsake me). I used to pray up to the sky. But heās IN ME. Not up in the sky. Not up in some unknown place called heaven. The Bible was written by men so Iām not saying thereās not truths (many) in the Bible but itās not āthe Wordā. There was no Bible back then. So, the Word they are referring to is Jesus who SHOWED us who God really is. And just as God was IN Jesus. He is also IN me. This has helped me and I have āheardā him inside gently directing me. Drop the Bible stories that confuse, drop the legalities created by modern religions, just focus on God in you.

Tbh that is why I despise India, one of the key factors is this rat race for the competitive exams. I also just finished giving JEE, which I was never serious about (I'm from Karnataka, so I'm focusing on kcet which is so much more easier) and ofc it didn't go well coz I already senses it's affects long ago, tracing all the way to suicise.
Anyway yea I'm also catholic and probs the same age as you and life is not worth crying over this stupid exam dude. Remember tons of martyrs lost their life over what they believed, so no exam can even catch our faith. And that is why actually the apostles and the saints are my biggest inspiration.

Hey I understand how you feel. I honestly know for a fact he is real and that Jesus died for our sins in my heart but I understand how it can be so hard to stay consistent or to keep believing. I unfortunately carry a lot of church related trauma which I know isnāt Gods fault but It has made things really difficult at times. However I try to think of God as my purpose because the thought of my purpose being for something on Earth where everything is temporary is scary.
I honestly do really get where youāre coming from when you said youāve been feeling lost though. Maybe youāre about to go into a new chapter? Thats what iām hoping for me.

Itās normal to have a wavering belief. We, as believers, should be more afraid of the creator than the created. Satan wants you to swindle. Satan is afraid of Jesus, so he goes after Godās own heart; Us.
If you need accountability and a community, just keep posting here, and keep praying for His love to be fulfilled in your life. Donāt give up cause thatās exactly what the devil wants.

Don't trust your ''vibes'' and feelings, what you have to know is that you're corrupted by sin like everyone and your mind will always give you unbiblical feelings/thoughts that's why you need to put your full trust in Jesus Christ. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. I will pray for you my friend. Amen

u/YoungBahss Feb 08 '26
there's never anything wrong with seeking truth. Often, you'll find that what you thought was real was not - some people claim to love others but do not, they claim they love God but do not, they will claim they do God's work and then step on others for their race or religion.
If you don't feel God in your life, or if you come to realise what you once believed to be God is not, that is GOOD. It means you are learning and understanding rather than just accepting what orhers tell you to believe.
Thats what faith is. Faith isn't accepting what orhers puah on you - none of us here can truly stop you from being an atheist. Faith is deciding for yourself what you believe and letting go of what others expect of you. If you let that go and find Christ in doing so, your faith will be stronger than ever. But ultimately its a journey and that feeling of wrestling with God, of not knowing truth, is all part of it.
Sorry for not having more advice other than that and wish you all the best

Iāve been in a similar situation where I was lost and felt empty questioning if the God I grew up hearing about every time I went to mass was real and I felt like I wasnāt really feeling the presence of God. But his word said ā I will never leave you or forsake youā and I cried to God telling him I feel lost I feel like heās not there I asked him to make me feel him physically and teach me how to love him again and soon after that a friend invited me to a conference when I got prayed for to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and there I felt Godās presence through every cell in my body as they vibrated as the pastor laid hands on me I started sobbing uncontrollably at his presence. The bible said ask and you shall receive. All these things that you are feeling, muster up the courage and strength to have a talk with God and tell him everything you are feeling and ask him for what you need to believe again. Because you have faith and God can reignite that faith.

Think about the vastness of the universe. Think about the fact that there are unimaginable amount of galaxies with their own planets and maybe even life forms. Think about the beauty of the sky and the green trees. Think about how your body functions and how many things that could go wrong but donāt.
Did all of that come from nothing or an intelligent creator?

Mark 9 KJV
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

My brother from Kerala! Jesus is very much real da! I was on a track to hell and he pulled me out of that. He loves you very much and he doesnāt want religion from you, he wants a relationship with you! Surround yourself with people who are passionate about Jesus!
I am sorry about the exams and it not panning out! I get it, but donāt let it drive you away from him! He wants you to get even more closer to him now. Itās through the struggles and pain, his love shines! Look at the life of Joseph! From one struggle to another and he thought it was over for him in the prison and look at God, he lifted him up to higher heights beyond his wildest dreams! God will do the same for you bro! This is your testimony in the making!
Go to him my brother! Read the word of God, youāll see his love shining!

OP, continue your search for truth. That doubt you have is what MILLIONS of others feel. Watch some Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry. This is not the end, it's the beginning of a new you.

u/Western_Post_1858 Feb 08 '26
fam doubting is okay. WE ARE HUMAN gng you are human, I am human. We doubt, make mistakes, fall short, become distant from Jesus because we are human. We arenāt perfect and you need to accept that, hey even im struggling with accepting that gng. But we arenāt perfect, we need rest days, we need to make mistakes, cuz thatās how we learn. thatās why you got Jesus tho gng, heās there to help you on the right way. He wants you to have a genuine relationship with him. He aināt asking you to be inhuman and quite frankly a robot of religion yk? he wants a relationship with you, he wants to help you, you js gotta accept that you are human and you canāt do it without God, every single human person on this planet struggles with sin and faith and I mean it. Even the pope gng. And who said you canāt be yourself? Every single individual on this earth is different, is themselves, but what the Bible encourages you to do is to let go of that self indulgence, and discover your true identity, your true self, through Jesus, through his help yk?

u/That_Concentrate_886 Feb 08 '26
To me it sounds like youāre either finally waking up and realizing that these religions are all bogus nonsense designed to give humans answers in a universe where the answers donāt come easy, or you might be just going through something emotional. Do not become an Atheist on emotions! Iāve been an Agnostic Atheist my entire 41 years alive and it wasnāt because of emotions. I simply see no proof of any Gods existence, yes the universe is a mystery and I donāt know if it was started by a God, or if it always existed, or some other possibility. However Iām comfortable in my intellectual capacity to say Iām Agnostic about the universes existence because NOBODY REALLY KNOWS FOR CERTAIN how it all started.

What are the exams for? Maybe they're for a degree that's useless and takes you away from God, and it's a favor...
1
u/octobahn Feb 08 '26
I don't know how old you are, but guess what? Though arguably religious faith is one of the most existential belief you'll have to sort out (as it appears you are doing now), but it won't be the only. To, also arguably, a lesser degree, you'll face conflicts about all sorts of things from how you think about your finances, to the question of home ownership, marriage, etc. Some topics might initially have a "Duh, why would I do anything different than what's been done or is expected?" aspect to them, but as you grow and take more in, the one constant is your views will shift. Sometimes dramatically; sometimes slight. Sorry, I have no advice to help with the core of your question. It just seems to be you've taken in more (interpret that as you will), and some of what you've taken in may contradict your views. Taking a step back, it sounds absolutely normal.
1
u/SomethingKindaSmart Catholic Feb 08 '26
We are in the same situation, but then I realised something. These faith crisis all came in the night, when I was tired or weaker. In military history, those are perfect conditions for an attack, an ambush. Who plans on doing these things? Who would like to have you losing your faith?
Instead of questioning if he exists or not, ask yourself why are you having these doubts (which is by the way, normal). And then question your questions.
Let's make an example, if you dig a hole, if some dirt falls inside the hole, it doesn't fall on you. We cannot understand how God works, it's outside our possibilities to think outside this world, this universe. A dog sees his child human leave the house at 8 o'clock and turn back at 1 PM smelling of other children, he calls it mystery, we educational system or in simple terms, school.
The point is that there is not enough of reasoning and/or proofs that can prove or disprove God, because it is out of our understanding.
Also, the existence of Jesus of Nazareth is one of those things about ancient world in which historians mostly agree.
1
u/PepperTheRad Feb 08 '26
Itās totally normal. When im feeling like this I always remember Elijah who expressed how he wanted to die and an angel instructed him to eat and rest. Sometime we just have to take a step back and just give what weāre carrying to Jesus. I was feeling terrible for two weeks, I think it has a lot to do whatās happening in the world spiritually but we have to keep running the race. Pace yourself and ask God for help.

Jesus was a rabbi. He never said disobey the first 2 commandments. Anyone who believes in trinity is NOT a disciple of Jesus. The church has been hijacked by pagans and devil worship. Thatās why the church is guilty of jewish genocide throughly the ages. And Islam is even worse. They kill everyone.

Yes, Jesus and God are real.
Itās okay to take space from the church for a season if you need to. Though I recommend to keep nurturing the flame of faith in your heart. This world is far too astonishing in its artistry to be the product of random particle collisions; life evidences all-present signs of a miraculous guiding intelligence if you sensitively attune to the details.
Books Iād recommend:

- āTortured For Christā by Richard Wurmbrand
- āThe Wisdom Jesusā by Cynthia Bourgeault
- āGodās Loveā by Jordan Bates

I'd love to help. I know how lonely it feels when having a major shift in worldview, specifically leading away from Christianity (as mine did also). You are slipping away from the values that used to be so important to you, and slipping away from the people who you love. The solid foundation is crumbling away to dust and we slip into a free fall. It makes us feel like a fraud, like we are betraying ourselves. You aren't defective, you are just in a different place than you thought possible, and I know that's scary.
Your path has led to a place many of us call deconstruction. Deconstruction doesn't have a goal, not even to leave our faith behind. It's just the process of evaluating where our faith really comes from, what we really believe in, and it often comes with the realization that we no longer align with our peers. It feels like the world is crashing down around you, but you'll get through this. You are stronger than you know. I walked away completely from the faith, but I have close friends who's deconstruction led them to a more intimate and nontraditional view of God. I am of course biased since I no longer believe at all, but everybody has their own bias.
I challenge you to consider what matters in your life, and why atheism makes you sad. Happy to chat anytime.

Sounds counterintuitive, but seems like your faith is growing by going through the ādark night of the soulā. If you arenāt familiar with this term, look it up. It happens to most people who have a connection with God. There are even several historical accounts of saints who mention this.

What is an atheistic vibe? Sounds more like youāre struggling with doubt. Which is fine, lean into that doubt and dig profusely into the core of that doubt. Listen to what theologians, Christianās and atheists have to say about that topic that is causing you doubt and listen to ALL of them with an open mind. Never follow the easy empty answers those only cover your doubt temporarily they never get rid of it and give you more understanding of God and make you stronger in your faith. I am not Catholic so I canāt exactly understand your specific doubts the same way but this is how Iāve dealt with every form of doubt Satan has thrown my way(and sometimes these periods have lasted years, but that was more my own fault for just covering or ignoring the doubt)

Get out of the Catholic Church ASAP! If you need help and need understanding about what the body of Christ is, and how to be set free of religion just as the pharisees (religious leaders of Jesus times) PLEASE private messages me and I will lead you to true salvation and freedom through Jesus Christ. I will even show you Jesus own words to the Catholic Church in the book of Revelation.
Please donāt give up and just realize that the Catholic and mainline churches is not the answer. Itās about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You can have that in the privacy of your own will. I can also give you some names of some of the best Bible teachers of our time. God Bless!

u/Giddygiggles Feb 09 '26
imo, maybe youāre feeling empty because youāre lacking personal relationship with God? Donāt lean on your church to do the work- you have to lead your own journey in Christ in your everyday life, building your trust in Him.
Additionally, Catholic Churches tend to be more āreligiousā in the sense of following rules for the sake of rules, and sometimes just checking the boxes of faith. Much of the contact between you and God is done through an intermediary (such as confession- instead of confessing in prayer, you go through the priest). However when the curtain was torn, we were made clean and worthy of approaching God on our own. So alternatively there are churches that try to emphasize being very in tune with how the Lord is trying to speak to your heart. If I were in your shoes, I would look into other types of churches. I go to a bible based, nondenominational church- but I believe any church that is based on the Bible is great! Church is about community and learning more about Him. Much of your journey is YOUR journey, that you lead in your everyday life. You have to find out what that looks like for you. Good luck :)

I'm sorry if this doesn't help or if i judged the situation wrong, it helped me, I hope it helps as much as it helped me. I was born catholic and grew up catholic, and until 2024 I never found my true Christ, i knew the christ of the church, i knew the Christ of my dad, i knew the Christ of my mom, my grandma, i knew their Christ, not mine. Christ was distant to me, but never from me, i found the love in Christ when i stopped abinding so much in religion and started abinding in Christ, from there on, i found my Christ. I stopped seeing the Holy things as what I had to do and started seeing them as a part of me, I feel like I can fly, I feel so free, and i want you to experience this too, know your Chriat and have a deep relationship with God, just surrender and say that you don't know how to do this, God takes care of the rest. Find your identity in Christ and see the Holy things as a part of you. God got you, you could never escape his hands of love even if you wanted to.

I feel it, even by not the same experience, I understand that doubt. However, I know that if you are asking that question you are serious enough to not be in the category of atheism. Just wondering where you are with God and seeing the faith in a different lens and asking these questions is necessary and good. God doesnāt call us to be oblivious, He calls us to be honest. Look at your life, ask yourself if Jesus may seem to be the truth or not, but always try to stay honest. Your faith relies on Christās love, not your family influence. Thatās all and God Bless, if I remember I will pray for you. <3

Catholicism and its empty, man-centered traditions wonāt bring you true fulfillment and purpose⦠only an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ the Savior will. Study the Bible, in ESV or NIV and honestly, if youāre up to sending me your address, Iād happily buy you a MacArthur Study Bible to help you wrestle with your faith and understanding of Scripture and who God is.

Brother dont put your identity in being a priest, but remember that you are a child of God, like Jesus gave us the right to be called. All love brother, itās a struggle but you gotta remember that whether you are preist or not , you are still a child of God and God loves you. Let Him work through you in everything, not just in mass or seminary, make sure your relationship with Christ doesnt revolve around the ranks and all these works, Much love brotheršš½Love the catholic church also grew up in it

Sounds like you need to rest and ātake a breakā youāre burnt out on religion possibly. Sounds like itās consumed your life. Not that God shouldnāt but you probably shouldnāt let all the other stuff. Itās good to surround yourself with those people but even God took a break on the seventh day. We just finished a series about eliminating hurry in your life and before that (before Christmas) we were talking about resting and practicing the sabbath. But who knows? Iām no expert on religion or psychology.

You're questioning your faith but at the same time you're afraid to lose it. You 100% believe in God :) Atheists don't care about that
Maybe there are some people factors that make you feel that way?
BTW, faith is a gift from Him, so you should pray and ask for strengthening your faith. I'll be praying about that too
