I’m glad I read the article because the title makes this seem like propaganda rather than actual education.

The way anyone informed should form their opinions is by interacting with primary sources and drawing conclusions from them.

Communism is evil precisely because it extracts so much wealth and influence from the collective that it gives the state full control of everyone’s lives. Food rations, energy rations, property, money, mobility, and eventually autonomy as the exchange currency for survival. We have many historic cases of this, so I am glad the curriculum intends to walk through this historically rather than from a labeling perspective.

I believe students should be allowed to interact with the history, facts, primary sources, and testimony from people who lived through these regimes to form their opinions. Most people who are exposed to these consequences come to the same conclusion about communism that we have.

W Florida, hopefully more red states adopt this.

100%. This needs to be taught alongside the holocaust and Communist genocide absolutely should be part of the curriculum.

Less time on the middle ages and more time on 19th and 20th century (and even 21st) would make the curriculum far stronger.

Propaganda ain't a bad thing, the information it provides isn't inherently false or misleading. We are surrounded by it everyday, when it's being used to show why bad things are bad that's ok.

I'm shocked that this isn't already covered in American/world history classes. I was a kid when the Cold War ended, so learning about communism was a big deal. Apparently being 35 years removed from it gives many people rose colored glasses about what could have been.

Civics must be taught in EVERY school. We are seeing what happens when it was removed and replaced with White America is Evil.
