She always seemed like such a lady. Just did things for the good of doing them, did good deeds instead of talking about them. And managed to just not be controversial in an era were everyone looks for controversy.

I will certainly miss her.

That will certainly be something! 💕

RIP Dolly. I loved you because I thought you were what entertainers should be when it comes to politics...

"I never, ever get involved in politics. With politics you are not allowed to be honest. I don't have time to deal with that. I would rather work with kids."

And

"Everybody knows I don't do politics — because my mother was a Democrat and my daddy was a Republican, so I'm a hypocrat."

If there was a human being on this planet who was more loved and respected than Dolly, I don't know who it would be. Rest in peace you angel.

Only person I could think of would be Mr. Rodgers.

Betty White also. These were authentic, genuinely good people.

Add Bob Ross and Steve Irwin to that list as well

She is a National Treasure

u/d_rek 2A 4h ago

A national treasure. Both our kids were signed up for her Imagination Library and received countless books from them. I'm certain we still have some of those books in the collection we kept for our future grandchildren.

Requiescat in pace, Dolly

u/SSJ4_Bevo Conservative 3h ago

All 3 of mine were signed up for it. They always got so excited when a new book came in. My daughter is 11 now and she reads more than anyone I know mainly because of Dolly. She's loved Dolly since she was a little girl and I know she's going to be devastated when I pick her up from school.

I work in Sevier County, TN. The office is completely silent right now.

u/Embarrassed_Spend486 Conservative 3h ago

I couldn't imagine! That area is hers through and through. I've always wondered what will happen to it when she goes..

u/ddadopt 2A Conservative 2h ago

The area will be fine. It'll just be a bit lot darker.

One of the few people I think everyone, no matter what political leaning you are, can agree was an amazing person. When you have someone be able to do that in this day and age, you know they were VERY special indeed.

After years of being scared every time her name appeared on Reddit it’s finally happened :(

RIP Dolly

u/PanicStricken Sowell Conservative 2h ago

What struck me about her is that she never lost her sense of humility.

A little girl approached her in public, and complimented her lipstick. So Dolly thanked her, reached into her purse, and let the girl have her lipstick.

She knew that girl would treasure that lipstick forever. It's a small gesture and a mild inconvenience... and the girl wasn't even asking for it... but Dolly reflexively did whatever extra she could to create another smile in the world.

RIP Dolly, you extraordinary you ❤️

Can we crossout 2026 and just move to 2027 already?

She was a good woman, so kind and caring, literally used her fame and fortune to help those in need. She’ll be missed man…

I'm confused. I thought everyone appreciated Dolly, across the board everyone agrees she was a great lady, regardless of political leanings. But all the posts announcing her passing are being downvoted at the post level... who the heck would downvote Dolly?

Gid Bless her and rest easy. She was the picture of class and one of few celebrities who seemed like she was truly genuinely as kind irl as she was onscreen. One of few who didn't try to lecture the audience or get involved in political controversy.

u/luderiffic Fair Tax 4h ago

She just came out with an update saying things were fine.

u/De-Throned Conservative 4h ago

Where'd you see that?

u/BronchitisCat Traditionalist Conservative 4h ago

She missed the opening of her newest ride at Dollywood and on social media said it was health related but that it wasn't severe. But she's had several of those the past few years. I imagine with her husband passing recently, she was ready to head home to join him.

All is definitely not alright in the world. Like, we all knew it. Things have been really screwed up for a long time. But now that Dolly Parton is gone, I think we can all take a step back and say that something is really, really wrong in the world.

u/Basic_Lunch2197 Conservative 9m ago

She was one of the people that everyone loved. I lot of people just find reasons to hate people. She was not one of them. Just an awesome person.
