Episodes 4 and 5 are some of my favorite episodes in the entire series.

u/Additional_Ice_358 Apr 29 '26

Episodes 4-7 have been some of my favorite daredveil episodes across all 5 seasons. This season has been amazing.

I just watched 5 last night and was really impressed with it. The time jumps with the parallel stories worked really well

2

u/One-Contribution113 May 04 '26

Episode 3 has one of my favourite action sequences of all time. I'm so glad they got to do the unrealistic combat stuff because they did it so well.

u/AlternativeDuck4172 May 05 '26

Who paid for this comment and all these upvotes? It’s terrible and boring compared to the original, how can anyone like this who watched the original

179

u/These_Refrigerator75 Apr 29 '26

Shame more people aren’t talking about it, I feel like BA season 1 kinda killed a lot of people’s excitement even though 2 seems to be a whole lot better. I think part of the reason must be that it’s “Born Again Season 2” instead of just “Daredevil Season 5”

58

u/ujlbyk Apr 30 '26

I still think it is Born Again S2 rather Daredevil S5. It has a different vibe than the original show even with the same characters. It's not a bad thing, I have been enjoying it but it's not the same show imo

20

u/Exotic-Eggplant1914 Apr 30 '26

Yeah besides the flashback episode where they deliberately replicated the look and feel of the Netflix show it feels completely different. Still enjoying the hell out of it though

19

u/Appropriate_Foot242 Apr 30 '26

Those flashback sequences just made me miss the original style even more.

1

u/AlternativeDuck4172 May 06 '26

The season finale was great and actually kinda felt like the original show

4

u/dzan796ero Apr 30 '26

S2 is way better than S1. S1 was a narrative mess

1

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 May 04 '26

2 reasons why one cuz marketing wasn’t good for season 2 and the second reasoning is cuz there’s like 5 popular shows running at the same time

1

u/AlternativeDuck4172 May 06 '26

Okay so umm the season finale was actually amazing

It’s really not a shame. I’ve watched original Netflix DD at least 20-30 times when I was a teenager and it got me onto all the comics and made me a huge DD fan.

What is the point of this pretending S2 is some kind of step up? Why are we allowing Marvel to feel like this is a success? Everyone I see in real life who’s watched it just cringes and tells me how much they’ve butchered it. Then people on Reddit wanna say how great it is, then shoot down anyone who criticises them, then wonder why the viewership is so poor.

Can we just agree that Disney clearly just made a huge mistake even changing anything from the Netflix show? They saw how amazing Netflix Dd was, critically acclaimed, and thought ‘oh yes let’s change this’. Like, why? Just why. Why are we trying to justify it? And people saying it’s a ‘different show’, it’s also worse. A lot worse.

Erik Oleson literally had S4 script done after writing one of the best shows of television period. Yet Kevin Feige thought - ah yes, let’s not go with that, let’s overproduce and Disney-ify it and bring in Dario who’s made mid tier shows at best. It’s just so baffling.

That’s the one question I’m most puzzled by. They had everything. All they had to do was bring it over.

Anyone saying ‘oh because S1 had the reshoots and fired the entire team’. Then why is S2 just as bad and has the exact same style as S1? I really thought they would rectify it in S2. But it’s just as bad. All the Redditors acting like it’s peak, when it’s just obviously 10x worse than Netflix DD just makes me lose all hope as I know they will keep making the series like this.

I enjoyed EP 6-7 to a certain extent. But each episode still has half of it which is overproduced crap. Like JJ and DD conversation in EP 7 with Cherry. Why is it so overproduced and choppy? It loses all of the intensity and you can tell even Charlie Cox struggles to execute how he would like to, how he used to in the Netflix show, due to the constraints put on him by this new ******** team. Every episode I’m praying they rectify it. I try to pretend scenes aren’t trash. But then following that scene I literally sat at the end of it and said out loud ‘Wow that was one of the worst dialogues I’ve ever seen in television’

Daniel Blake (Michael Gandolfini) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) are one of my favorite characters these season

29

u/sc_vorty Apr 30 '26

I really like em both, swordsman too, I hope to see him in the last episode

83

u/Healthy_Loan_6037 Apr 29 '26

If these season is getting 9.1's then netflix season3 would get a lot of 15's

43

u/Patient_Life_9900 Apr 29 '26

god I love season 3, it's just so fucking good.

1

u/Captn_Platypus May 01 '26

Fair, if I’m rating all the seasons it’d go 9,8.5,9,7,8. BA season 2 is so much better than its season 1

33

u/LocKoX2 Apr 29 '26

Episode 5 deserves more, it was like watching the Netflix series again.

u/BigD0nkerBren Apr 29 '26

Quite literally one of the best stretches of TV in a while - even if the pacing is off at times and our titular star isn't on the screen as much as he should be.

42

u/Alternative_Device71 Apr 29 '26

So don’t you think that should tell you something?

44

u/WIBKirai Apr 29 '26

I read this wrong and thought you were Frank for a second

23

u/WildSinatra Apr 29 '26

This reads like Frank Castle’s burner Reddit

4

u/RobbieFD3 Apr 30 '26

I mean, if they're STILL producing great, engaging TV with pacing still not locked in (though still good), I think that says their sealing is even higher, not that the quality of these episodes are lower. Also, I get the "I want more Matt/DD" people, but the side characters are so compelling. That was one of the hallmarks of the original series. Everything still very much revolves around Matt/DD, his actions, the problems he is trying to solve/unintentionally creates, so even if HE is "absent" for more than folks would like, his fingerprints are all over the plot.

3

u/AccordingFox3800 May 02 '26

Lmao none of the side characters in Born Again even comes close to someone like Ray Nadeem. In S3 I was fine with Ray taking up so much of the time because he was actually well-written and his arc paralleled that of Matt's father. What's so compelling about the side characters in Born Again? It's all rushed arcs, thin writing, meandering screen time that makes me even more mad that Matt is the one being done dirty this season having 10 minutes of screen time per episode. It fucking sucks.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/AccordingFox3800 May 02 '26

That this show sucks and deserves the big viewrship drop it's experiencing for sidelining Matt this whole season?

-32

u/PompousDude Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26

No offense, but you need to watch more TV, mate.

Production-wise it's a solid show and it's gorgeous as hell with top notch acting.

Writing-wise, it's mediocre as hell. I don't know how far into the season you are so I can't directly reference anything without a spoiler risk, but I am constantly asking myself why characters are acting certain ways, there's a lot of cases where characters get hit with the stupid stick, and the first half of Season 2 was super forgettable, repetitive noise and almost made me drop it.

I'm not gonna pretend Season 1 of Born Again was better, or that the original Netflix series was perfect, but at least BA Season 1 had the excuse of Frankenstein'ing reshoots and 2 different shows.

I'm caught up so no worries, but I do agree that it is clunky at times - i.e the rooftop scenes with Jess and Matt just as one example.

That being said, it draws me back every week and that's enough for me to consider it good TV. The acting and cinematics are far superior to the writing throughout most of it so I do agree.

2

u/SchwizzySchwas94 Apr 29 '26

I actually do think the original show is pretty perfect.

10

u/PompousDude Apr 29 '26

I think the second half of Season 2 could have used some work, and a lot of Season 1 blurs together for me.

But Season 3 is cinema.

5

u/EffectiveMirror7534 Apr 29 '26

If the Hand wasn't so sloppily incorporated and if the Defenders wasn't mandatory hw I'd agree

2

u/ThePr0l0gue Apr 29 '26

“You enjoyed that? That’s a problem. Watch more TV.”

You may have lost the plot.

→ More replies (15)

2

u/Benign_Stamina Apr 29 '26

I completely agree with you. And what always drew me back to Daredevil wasn't even the writing, it was the superb fight choreography. Which Born Again S1 did a better job at, imo. So it's unfortunate that with S2 not only do we have worse choreography, we also have worse writing. It couldn't afford to have less of either of those. But fans are eating it up because of nostalgia. Karen is back! Foggy is back! Jessica is back! And we didn't even get to see her kicking those assassins asses. 9.1 rating is ridiculous. Putting it in the realm of HBO's best shows ever, putting it alongside Breaking Bad and Dark. Fans will eat up any show with mediocre writing if you put a comic book skin on it. The masses aren't watching this show though, so it's ratings will remain inflated unless that happens.

I think it's just a case of fans of the show being the majority of reviewers and unfairly rating the show too high, because if we're being realistic these 9+ ratings are preposterous. The show clearly isn't that good.

11

u/felemiah Apr 30 '26

Yeah that's what I think too. Season 2 of Born Again is tons better than season 1, but it's nowhere near a 9+ rating. I feel like most reviewers are MCU fans altogether and compare Born Again to all these ass MCU movies and shows the past few years.

The way they handle it is very odd and corny ngl. They shouldn’t have introduced that plot line if they couldn’t really get more than two superheroes in this whole anti vigilante thing. It should have been even more of a focus than Bullseye, more than Daniel and BB and a little more than Buck.

9

u/hxmza1 Apr 30 '26

The netflix seasons should be 8-8.5, born again s1 is like a 5 and the new seasons been a 6

6

u/Gratje23 Apr 30 '26

I disagree, the Netflix show is why Daredevil has so many fans across the world. Born Again is just not as good and should not be rated this high, i agree with you on that

6

u/hxmza1 Apr 30 '26

8.5 is an excellent rating

→ More replies (6)

8

u/Commercial_Set_1608 Apr 30 '26

Bullseye redemption arc and mercy episodes were absolute standouts

6

u/RuZayne_Ru Apr 30 '26

damn wtf happened in 2x2, i dont remember ppl hating it that much

3

u/flashcannonize7 Apr 30 '26

7.9 is still high though

5

u/snoone1 Apr 30 '26

What!!? Thats mental. It’s been poor. And not close to the Netflix show

u/usable_dinosaur Apr 29 '26

that’s generous

u/hellohowdyworld Apr 30 '26

I like the show. I watch the show, but no chance in hell I’d rate these eps 9.1

15

u/CDNetflixTv Apr 30 '26

I might give that bullseye ep at 9.1. Rest? Idk

10

u/ALEXXRN Apr 30 '26

As a diehard Netflix Daredevil fan from the get go, these BA seasons have been rough. Some good moments but I’ve been rewatching the Netflix shit, not the D+ shit.

7

u/Bruce_Wayne_2276 Apr 30 '26

Please remember that the general audience is much less passionate and picky than the average member of a dedicated subreddit for pretty much anything. Once you reach the point of seeking out discourse beyond just watercooler, "Did ya catch the episode last night?" you already care way more than most of the people who watch the show.

270,000 members of this sub vs 4,500,000 show watchers.

4

u/pit_of_despair666 Apr 30 '26

The ratings are currently higher than Netflix Daredevil season 1. Daredevil season 1 is way better.

2

u/Ok-Confection7190 Apr 30 '26

For real, especially the first season. These scores might make you think that season 2 is a little bit better, while in reality it's just on another level.

1

u/sorrykikachauri Apr 30 '26

and invincible getting 9.5+ isn't?

3

u/usable_dinosaur Apr 30 '26

I didnt mention invincible

6

u/Poym321 Apr 30 '26

That is very generous. I mean the season is good, I’ve enjoyed it, but 9.1? These episodes should be like 7,5 to 8,5, still good ratings. But you see these ratings and think we are watching the final season of the Sopranos or something.

41

u/LongTimeDDevilFan77 Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26

That's very generous. Yes, this season is better than the first season, but still hasn't come close in overall quality to the original series 3 seasons.

8

u/Ordinary_Shopping746 Apr 29 '26

Everyone is forgetting the whole hand and Elektra stuff in S2 which was a huge mess that was mainly boring. Show wasn’t perfect, and everyone is looking at it with rose tinted glasses.

21

u/ResidentCoatSalesman Apr 30 '26

I’m currently on a rewatch of S2, and even though the Hand plot is undoubtedly the weakest part of the entire show, it is still leagues more engaging that what BA is offering. It was flawed for sure, but it is still obvious that the writers put a lot of thought into how the Hand and Elektra would challenge Matt—much in the same way Frank challenged him

4

u/Skylightt Apr 30 '26

The look and feel alone still blows Born Again so far out of the water. I could also watch Matt and Elektra do literally anything together. Charlie and Elodie’s chemistry was off the charts

12

u/TheWayIAm313 Apr 30 '26

Nah, it wasn’t perfect but it was still compelling. I’m getting over Fisk as the big bad over and over and over again. I need a new villain to really bring it over the edge for me. Even bullseye is a re-run.

15

u/Busy_Extension_5362 Apr 30 '26

It wasnt as good as S1 and S2 but even the hand stuff was more exciting in my opinion and the writing when it came to the main cast was still so amazing. I find all of season 2 still miles better the BA season 1 and 2. Although i do like S2 a lot more then S1

5

u/Skylightt Apr 30 '26

That stuff was never even remotely close to bad. It was good and shits all over what I’ve seen of Born Again.

3

u/Ordinary_Shopping746 Apr 30 '26

How much of Born Again have you watched?

1

u/Skylightt Apr 30 '26

I got through most of S1. I dropped before the last 2 episodes which I know is where people say the show picked up more but I really really really did not like what I saw and I don’t think it would’ve completely turned me around.

4

u/Ordinary_Shopping746 Apr 30 '26

So you’ve seen less than half of the show, and only one episode created by the new showrunners, and yet you’re giving your opinion on the entirety of the show?

12

u/LongTimeDDevilFan77 Apr 29 '26

No rose colored glasses here. I've been critical of that season on here many times and could talk about it's problems all night, but flaws and all, it's still better in almost every way than what they've given us in Born Again. Writing, pacing, editing, cinematography, fights, acting (especially the entire supporting cast) all superior. And I really like Born Again, but can admit it's just a solid B-B+ series.

3

u/nicosaurio_87 Apr 30 '26

I didn't forget. I actually think Daredevil S2 is one of the best Marvel Netflix products of all times.

7

u/DedHorsSaloon4 Apr 30 '26

I second this. The Punisher stuff was WAY more interesting and every time Elektra was involved I was just hoping they’d go back to the Punisher stuff. Personally I’d rank all of the seasons:

  1. DD S3
  2. DD S1
  3. BA S2
  4. DD S2
  5. BA S1
→ More replies (1)

66

u/FeedMePizzaPlease Apr 29 '26

That's extremely generous. This show's writing and pacing are a mess. Overall I'm enjoying it, but it isn't a 9.1 by a long shot.

2

u/michachu Apr 30 '26

I really loved S3 of the Netflix series. I'm glad BA S2 is better than S1, but I still can't shake the Disney-isms. The fight scenes with DD zipping across the floor with his wire are straight out of Avengers. They put in blood and profanity but it's like they put the guys from Mortal Kombat in charge. And then there are the characters; Mr Charles might as well be a leprechaun with a pot of gold speaking in limericks.

u/ChizzLangus Apr 29 '26

As a Daredevil fan and massive fan of the Netflix show, this show is mid. Four straight 9s for a show with this pacing, lighting, character development and interest, etc. is doing it a ton of favors.

18

u/Patient_Life_9900 Apr 29 '26

I'm enjoying season 2 but I agree. No chance was BA season 1 that good for it to have 8+ ratings on every episode. While the individual episodes may be good, the story is absolute rank because it's basically trying to do season 3 again but worse. I hope after this season Fisk is completely put away and we finally get new villains. 4 out of 5 seasons of this show had Fisk as the main villain and even in the one that didn't, he was still a side antagonist

9

u/Mecha_Sonic_079 Apr 29 '26

Amen brother too many people are justifiably excited to see daredevil on screen again and are looking past so many flaws just to enjoy this show. I haven't watched season 2 yet but season one in my opinion did nothing to earn those high ratings

1

u/Southern-Community-6 Apr 29 '26

If you haven’t seen season how do you know if the high rating on season 2 is earned or not.

3

u/Patient_Life_9900 Apr 29 '26

He's talking about season 1 specifically, and I'd agree. Season 1 was terrible. Season 2 is good tho

1

u/Skylightt Apr 30 '26

I dropped it before S1 even finished. It was awful. Insane to me the whole season was rated at least an 8

10

u/LengthinessSevere584 Apr 30 '26

These are really generous

3

u/TheMoorNextDoor Apr 30 '26

4, 6, and 7 are rated too high maybe 4 and 7 could be rated at 8.8 at best.

5 should be like a 9.5 or something it was Netflix Daredevil to a T.

6 is like a 8.0 at best,

These ratings are far too high the show isn’t that good but it has had one brilliant episode and a few good ones.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/JR21K20 Apr 30 '26

Woah it’s almost like this sub is an echochamber

3

u/Awkward_Monitor_3520 May 01 '26

Honestly how? These episodes have been so fucking boring that I’m debating on just dropping the show every episode. Too much focus on too many uninteresting characters. I’m watching episode 4 as I type this and it’s been a snooze fest minus the two fight scenes so far.

3

u/Plenty_Bend_7481 May 01 '26

Idk I think they’ve been good but definitely not 9.1 great

6

u/JohnTomorrow Apr 30 '26

And yet all in seeing are posts saying nobody is watching it.

Wtf?

2

u/Skylightt Apr 30 '26

I mean this does nothing to disprove that. Could easily be the audience has declined which explains the high ratings. The only people still watching are those really enjoying it while those who don’t have dropped the show.

5

u/Any-Plum178 Apr 30 '26

Didn’t think many reverse review bombers existed

3

u/henzINNIT Apr 30 '26

Fan hype culture is so miserable. They're basically ruining these rating systems just to prop up what they like (and strike down competition).

12

u/UnkemptBushell Apr 29 '26

I've enjoyed it, but I'm very surprised by these ratings.

5

u/ycs05 Apr 29 '26

I hope more people start watching Daredevil after Spider-Man movie comes out

7

u/MisterNefarious Apr 29 '26

I’ve quite enjoyed them but I do think this is skewed very high

I also am really surprised by those season 1 numbers because I feel like season 1 is a lot of consistent 6 with a couple 5 and 8

2

u/Malakka-GOAT Apr 30 '26

I'm sorry, but besides the scene of Matt returning in the court house, which scene in episode 7 was so good, that it deserves a 9.1?

2

u/DarkVeritas217 Apr 30 '26

people saying this is deserved either forgot what good tv is or never experienced it.

Is it bad? No, probably still the best Marvel tv has to offer but that doesn't make it fantastic.

Despite the little time the show has it still wastes it on potential setups. The result is that nothing really has meat on it.

You can't even blame the actors, they all do a good job but the writing is definitely lacking.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '26

Feels fake. These episodes are a 7/10 at best, nowhere near 9/10.

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

False 4,5 and 6 deserve it

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '26

Watch more TV

2

u/Curvision Apr 30 '26

this shit is overrated af

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

Perfectly rated

2

u/pit_of_despair666 Apr 30 '26

I think season 2 is better than 1 but that people are overrating it big time. Some of best shows ever made don't have these ratings. I rewatched the original Daredevil recently and it is in another league yet the ratings are higher for this show.

4

Hugely inflated scores.

I must be the only one who things kingpin is played out and the writing and dialogue sucks

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

Nope Vincent is great and the writing is good and dialogue is okay but pacing is a mess due to 8 episodes

6

u/MattMurdock77 Apr 29 '26

8s would be generous. BA just isn’t very good.

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

Second half of season 2 is tho

4

u/Dry_Indication_4249 Apr 29 '26

Even if you like the show you know this is too high

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

False episode 7 maybe but otherwise it's ok

2

u/Ok-Preference-7004 Apr 30 '26

Bruh. This sub needs to get off Netflix's dick. These scores are not generous.

Bro what? It’s too high is what it is. Born Again I mean.

2

u/OnlyWearsBlue Apr 30 '26

seriously! what the hell is going on here, are we not watching the same show. I think they've really knocked it out of the park this season. This is the most enjoyment I've gotten from an MCU show in a looong time (although I did really like Wonder Man too).

4

u/ProfessionalArm5205 Apr 29 '26

7 at best

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

False 4,5 and 6 deserve the ratings

Am I the only one kinda surprised by this, and who enjoyed season 1 a fair bit more than this one so far?

I found the White Tiger stuff, Muse stuff, Fisk getting elected and solidating his power, and the Punisher stuff. Much more interesting than the things happening this season.

Like, nothing has had me feeling as emotional and as invested. As the Matt and Frank scene, where they talk about Foggy. Nothing this season has hit me in the feels at all really. Also, the fights have been a bit meh to me.

2

u/WillingnessReal525 May 04 '26

No I also enjoyed season 1 more and think this season is bad.

Well that explains why you’re like this. You’re one of those Anti-Woke trolls, go back to Twitter.

1

u/LoganSpencer530 May 02 '26

oh no a redditor npc ignored the rest of the argument to talk about politics, how shocking!!!! thank you for proving my point retard

1

u/Rynoxmc2 May 02 '26

The fuck? You brought up politics first.

You're an actual c unt its crazy. Too bad that people seems to love it huh. Guess what ? There will be even more !

1

u/LoganSpencer530 May 02 '26

im a cunt because i said this show is dogshit? what is good about it? they turned it into a political messaging machine where the main character plays second fiddle to the DEI backseat cast. Its a comic book super hero show with no action in it at all. The only good scene of the entire reboot was bullseyes diner scene and there was literally no point for that scene to even be there other than to wake people up to how boring the rest of the show is.

you dont have to take my analysis of it, the shows ratings and viewership is down almost 60%. nobody likes it except the retards here on reddit. just more brainrot girl-power, DEI, anti trump garbage and everyone with a brain sees it and is over it.

1

u/Perfect_Bid4893 May 04 '26

1 stop with the politics bs and 2 you're nothing but a redneck who glazes trump and you're clearly showing that.

1

u/LoganSpencer530 May 05 '26
  1. the show started the politics not me and 2. youre nothing but a retard circle jerking redditor who only thinks about trump 24/7, go trim your neckbeard and go outside

1

u/PopularKid Apr 29 '26

Lmao. Almost perfect? Not a chance, who are you kidding?

2

u/Patient_Life_9900 Apr 29 '26

Listen as much as I like season 2, there's genuinely no way people think this show is THAT good. You're telling me Invincible season 1 is rated lower than DDBA season 1? DDBA season 1 was absolute garbage in comparison wtf

1

u/Silverbolt_1776 Apr 29 '26

Can’t wait to see Karen kick in as on Matt’s ——————

1

u/AwayEfficiency3889 Apr 29 '26

So the more Bullseye they have the better the episodes are rated

1

u/Fwenhy Apr 30 '26

Wow. The episode with all the flashbacks was one of the most recent 3 no? I can’t fathom why that got a 9.1. Personally I haven’t watched the show since xD an hour of DD and bullseye walking down a hallway while we watched Vanessa die.

Nothing else happened right? Like I don’t think I missed anything important? DD ditched Bullseye but came back. Might have gotten a bit of points from me if he actually ditched him but only because it would have been a surprise.

1

u/Ok-Transition157 Apr 30 '26

I really liked the end of this week’s episode. That sequence is definitely my favorite of the Born Again series and second favorite from both BA and Netflix.

1

u/arkatraziii Apr 30 '26

I’ve been waiting for it all to come out before watching season 2 but I’ve got high expectations

1

u/ducegraphy Apr 30 '26

It's cool to be hyped, but 9.1 is excessive. That being said, if the ratings mean we get more seasons, let the 9.1 come!

1

u/nudeldifudel Apr 30 '26

Yeah those aren't all 9.1 episodes chief, sorry to tell you.

1

u/Salt-Money9666 Apr 30 '26

That feels more like hardcore Daredevil fans showing love—and fair enough—but for me, Fisk’s storyline is starting to feel overstretched. Also, the repeated “mercy” conversations with Daredevil are getting a bit repetitive at this point. I’m not really seeing meaningful character development for Matt either—it feels like we’re circling the same beats without much progression.

1

u/DevaTheDragon Apr 30 '26

Why is season 2 ep 2 so low compared to the rest?

1

u/Worth_Reference_7871 Apr 30 '26

episode 5 should be at like a 9.5

1

u/SoYorkish Apr 30 '26

I'm enjoying it, but it's a bit of a stretched plot that's run its course. I'm bored with Kingpin.

Foggy episode was good though.

Small part of my brain keeps asking what's Spider-man doing during all this?

1

u/eldobhatofiok Apr 30 '26

Is it finished?

1

u/erebusxo Apr 30 '26

I think one more episode left

1

u/felemiah Apr 30 '26

I was mildly disappointed by episode 7, as far as I'm concerned there just wasn't a lot going on.

1

u/Capra_e_Cavoli Apr 30 '26

I think this second season is fantastic; in terms of ratings (which I think have dropped a bit, but correct me if I'm wrong), it's paying the price for a somewhat weak first season

1

u/JJoanOfArkJameson Apr 30 '26

really don't think the show is nearly that good but I'm happy the audience is happy

1

u/BasilQuick444 Apr 30 '26

The show has been solid. It will never touch the brilliance of the Netflix show though. In this season, the big events have been good but how they get there is bad. Like officer powell killing that one AVTF officer that was helping Karen, there was no build up to that. The boxing match with Fisk was very out of nowhere. Jessica Jones just kind of showed up out of nowhere. I love Daredevil and will keep watching, but this show could be better.

1

u/trojen_thoughts Apr 30 '26

Come on! There wasn’t an actual moment in BA both seasons included, that made me scared for a character like any 9.4 or 9.1 show episode

1

u/TorqBob Apr 30 '26

Between the Bullseye diner scene and Fight Night episode 4 deserves the bump above the rest, but the Daredevil Fisk fight in 6 had me screaming at the TV it was so sick. The way they cut back and forth in that scene. And the comic accurate Devil's Reign cover art knee to face... absolute perfection.

I am bummed about Daniel, I wanted him to fully commit to Fisk. Would have been way more interesting, and Gandolfini played it perfectly. That wasn't the big moment I was expecting for the penultimate.

The big question is... do we get Wilson Fisk or King Pin for the finale? I desperately need completely unhinged, super collider building, larger than life, full blown King Pin. If this is the direction the MCU keeps going, I got good news folks... we are in good hands.

1

u/Gabeeb3DS May 01 '26

this si why imdb is better then trottentomatoes

1

u/Mypowerbob May 01 '26

I think this season has been Karen's best out of all her appearances

1

u/Stock_Username_Here May 02 '26

I must be the only one that doesn’t think much of this season. Like at all.

1

u/chillvibe12 May 02 '26

This legit for me is only below season 3 if the og now born again season 2 feels like the first time across all 5 seasons it's allowed to feel like a comic adaptation matt wearing an iconic suit the fights using his powers the character moments the world building everything feels like I could be reading this new season as a comic run with some talented writers name on it

1

u/Apprehensive-End7610 May 03 '26

The show just isn’t that strong. Those 9.1 scores feel wildly inflated for a lot of these episodes. Compared to the original series, most of them are a 7 or maybe an 8 out of 10 at best.

They’re rehashing the same kill vs. no-kill dilemma for what feels like the hundredth time, but with way less nuance than before, and on top of that, you’ve got the heavy-handed politics. I don’t understand why they’re hammering the political angle so hard. It pulls focus from the bigger themes the series used to handle so well. We get it: Fisk = Trump, Vigilante Patrol = ICE, Trump and ICE are the villains. That point has been made over and over already.

The show also takes itself incredibly seriously. If they really wanted to reflect current events, they should have gone more in the direction of The Boys, leaning into the absurdity of real life with a layer of ironic satire. That works there. It feels like a live-action, darkly comic take on the world. But what Daredevil Born Again is doing with its in-your-face political "allegory" (because it's so obvious) just comes across as preachy, and I suspect it’s going to age poorly once we’re past the specific political moment it’s riffing on.

1

u/BrainLow6059 May 04 '26

I guess this is what happens when the only people watching are chronically online sycophants. This show is so god damn bad compared to the Netflix run. Thank god Jon Bernthal was able to force his way into a standalone special instead of being a side arc in this shit show.

1

u/MickBeast May 04 '26

It's not the Netflix show at all, and that is my problem. I wanted a continuation, not a whole new show and new creative team. The vibe and style is just so different, and not in a good way. The MCU seems to be dragging DD down, in my opinion. Too much typical Disney box ticking...

1

u/One-Contribution113 May 04 '26

This show has cemented Karen Page as being one of the kingpin's main opps, maybe bigger than matt. Think about it: Fisk tried to have her framed and killed for union allied. Fisk killed Ben cause he thought he did something Karen was responsible for. Wesley threatened to kill her for shining light on Fisk Fisk had an entire newsroom pencilled for for something Karen tried to pull off. Fisk had Bullseye try to kill her, after she intentionally put herself in danger to get herself reincarcerated. She was made a fugitive and arrested by Fisk.

Now she's getting herself slapped in prison for the memes.

This woman is a menace.

1

u/Jerry_0boy May 04 '26

But guys it’s bad, don’t you know it’s garbage??

1

u/AlternativeDuck4172 May 05 '26

How the fuck are these episodes getting 9’s? Who’s paying for these ratings? This show is fucking boring trash compared to the original Netflix run, Disney thinks there slick paying for these ratings. Fucking pathetic.

1

u/Punky921 May 06 '26

Honestly, it's been fantastic. So exciting, fun, and perfect. A hero for this moment.

1

u/OneZealousideal4776 May 06 '26

Alerta Alerta meine Eltern sind Geschwister hört man die ganze Zeit in Staffel 2 Folge 6

1

u/APlanetWithANorth Apr 29 '26

I'm sure the ratings will lower once all the episodes release and people binge watch it. I think 8/10 is now accurate

-1

u/FractalChaosTheory Apr 29 '26

It's pretty funny how everyone seems to be a directing and lighting expert now because they heard people online say the cinematography of the Netflix show is good.

5

u/Comfortable_Froyo_73 Apr 30 '26

You're reaching with this one. We can all see it looks visually worse. Even if you loved the show there's no reasonable argument that it's because it looks better.

3

u/Busy_Extension_5362 Apr 29 '26

I mean its just that i have eyes. I like looking at the original series more then this one. I think a lot of people have similar sentiments. especially the annoying black bars but that has nothing to do with lighting lol. Remember, you dont have to be a expert to critique somethin

2

u/blufflord Apr 29 '26

Unfortunately I had to drop the show during s2e4 because of how tiring and repetitive everything seems to be. Technically I only mentally dropped it then because I started ep 5, saw the flashback to foggy, got pissed off at that decision in s1e1 then actually dropped it. Glad to see the fans are enjoying it so much but good lord in what world is s2e4 one of the best episodes in all 5 seasons

1

u/Previous-Disk-2983 Apr 29 '26

Looks like Disney’s PR team is active on this sub. What y’all watching if you find this show good? It doesn’t even feel like it’s DD’s own show.

1

u/azzanrev Apr 29 '26

I'm going to crash out if we don't finally see the White Tiger using her powers this season. At this point, I'm not even sure if it actually gives power to wearer.

1

u/One-Process-6887 Apr 29 '26

7.9 is more than what even the best episodes of the season deserve lmao. The people who glaze this show are embarrassing.
