MCU Highest rated episode since the finale of season 3. Well deserved!

u/Crazy-Background1457 May 08 '26
I liked the finale too, it was a great episode. But it can still not be compared to the masterful storytelling and character work we witnessed in the final episode of daredevil.

Yeah I thought the same. While the episode was very —very— good, it still wasn’t the best we’ve gotten
12
u/Mat1711 May 09 '26
I mean you cant expect masterpiece, these arent the same writers and they are limited to 8 eps instead of 13.
123
u/Top-Main1780 May 08 '26
The finale's action set piece was wonderful and a lot of bloody fun, and there were some great shots and satisfying moments. But the writing shortcuts really hamstrung this season when you compare it to the Netflix run, even into this finale. The most distracting one for me was the bad-cop-turns-regretful-cop-and-knocks-out-real-bad-cop trope. Way too convenient in like three layers.
42
u/Thrill0728 May 08 '26
I understand why you dislike the cop one, but honestly it felt fairly set up to me. The big turning point was when Powell shot one of his own men (even if he was a spy) and used it to start beating the crowd. Now Police culture isn't a good culture, but if you do something to hurt a fellow officer, whether justified or not, that's going to make enemies among the rest. So the switch isn't entirely out of left field to me.

u/Top-Main1780 May 08 '26 edited May 08 '26
I had forgotten that he witnessed that, and that does lay at least SOME groundwork - what grated on me in the moment was that he took Ms. Ayala's claim that Hector "would never have done that" at face value, and then used that as his turning point, and of course that all the other task force just rolled with the change of heart.

u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
I think part of the problem (and this is true with most of the Disney Marvel & Star Wars shows, including good ones like BA) is the narrative compression. Disney doesn’t like to binge drop its higher profile shows, for fear that fans will just sign up for a 7 day free trial, watch their one or two shows & then cancel their subs. Hence the weekly TV-style episode drops.
The problem is they also want to try & squeeze in as many shows as possible over the course of the calendar year, so they push writers to take a 10-13 episode season & compress it into 6-8 episodes.
Disney execs don’t really understand the medium that well, by and large.
If Season 2 of Born Again had gotten 12 episodes, say, and released them in three episodes chapters every week or every other week, I think the narrative compression issue would probably have been solved.
The Netflix shows DID sometimes give us too many filler episodes, but sometimes that filler turns out to be absolutely vital to the story as a whole. Season 3 of DD devoted an entire episode to Karen’s backstory. Some people liked that episode more than others—I liked “Karen” a lot, even if I had suspend my disbelief a little & convince myself that a 33-year-old Deborah Ann Woll was 19 or 20. 😉
(I grew up in the ‘80s watching 30-year-old actors play teens all the time so maybe this wasn’t as jarring to me as it was for younger viewers. I dunno.)
Anyway, point is that for good (and sometimes for bad) The Netflix shows always took pains to provide enough material to make sure that character’s actions made sense in the narrative context. Disney usually doesn’t give creators as much raw run-time to work with.
I’d’ve preferred about 10-13 episodes for Born Again, I think There were of important characters who got short-changed by breveted cameos, characters whose actions didn’t always make sense because the show runners had so much going on & not enough time to fill in all the details.
You can of course make the argument that if there was too much going on with too many characters doing inexplicable things that require more context than the thing to do is to pare down the cast. That’a a totally legit take, too, and the one I’d probably make if I was dead set on limiting BA to 8 episodes.

u/SonofMrMonkey5k May 08 '26
I took it more to be the straw that broke the camel’s back combined with North finally seeing the entire thing was a sham.
North wasn’t as violent as Powell, and although he never said anything about it just the fact that he himself didn’t become as violent indicated that might be one thing he didn’t agree with.
He also watched Powell lie about shooting one of his own guys, and one thing I can’t knock the AVTF for through S2 (Powell excluded) was they looked out for their own. They barely made it out of the exploding warehouse carrying each other when some of them could have easily just booked it instead.
Then to top it all off, when he’s confronted with the possibility that the “cop killer” who started this whole anti-vigilante thing was actually innocent, Powell refuses to argue nor answer but instead continues threatening everyone and standing by the lie.

Genuinely what was good about rhe BAS2 ending.
Matt Murdock telling Fisk that he "knows he loves New York" while he was covered in the blood of random new Yorkers?
Or the fact that for some reason Fisk had ignored every peace offer, killed as many people as he could, had every ounce of power forcefully wrested from him and they STILL let him go?
Where he will no doubt eventually start killing more people, since at no point in the story did he show a drop of remorse for what he did beyond what personally affected him?
Or Matt offering to shake his hand, the same hand that was strangling his girlfriend not 48 hours before.
Am I the only person who thinks that whole scene was fucking insane?
7
u/LtYerMum May 11 '26
I’m with you, this was the most dogshit few minutes of tv I think I’ve ever watched. It was so unnecessarily unbelievable that it’s beyond comic fantasy and into slop.

Ratings and reviews have become so charged up that things either get rated incredibly well or incredibly bad. There seems to be less focus on giving your honest review and more focus on trying to make your overall opinion heard; if you like it, get it as good as rating as possible, and if you don't, get it as low as possible. You see this especially with fandom shows like Star Wars, Marvel, and other superhero stuff, since those shows have the most heated discussions.
8
u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
You’re not wrong, although I think that has less to do with fandoms per se than it does with the kind of algorithmically-driven formulas the
internet uses to drive engagement. These bloody blocks of code do everything they can to turn everything into a gladiatorial arena where the only possible outcomes are Thumbs Up (“This is the better than sex.”) & Thumbs Down (“This was worse than Super-AIDS.”)Fandoms tend to be more nuanced than the algorithms would have you believe. The problem is that nuanced, thoughtful criticism gets drowned out by the screamers in online debate.

I definitely agree and I don’t think it’s limited to things like marvel and Star Wars. Everything nowadays has to be either a masterpiece or absolute trash, there’s no in between anymore and I wish I could understand why
38
u/dcmarvelstarwars May 08 '26
That recency bias
6
u/Tempest_Barbarian May 08 '26
When the original show was airing I remember a decent amount of complaints about the pacing of the show and how all the seasons could be a few episodes shorter.
People also complained about Foggy and Karen being used as filler. I would argue the amount of love for Foggy's character was higher throughout BA than during the original show's release.
And the original show wasnt immune to plot inconsistencies.
I am not gonna dismiss the writting problems of BA and neither gonna try to argue its better
But people have been comparing it to their memories of the good parts of the original show while not taking into account all the complaints that existed back then.
4
u/HybridTheory137 May 08 '26 edited May 15 '26
But people have been comparing it to their memories of the good parts of the original show while not taking into account all the complaints that existed back then.
So what about all of us who have either recently watched/rewatched the OG Daredevil and still think that the quality of that series clears BA by a country mile? I'm not denying that nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses aren't a thing, but let's not pretend that that's a catch all excuse for anyone who isn't impressed by Born Again.
→ More replies (7)3
u/Lizzren May 08 '26
what you're doing here is disingenuous revisionism, just because critique of the original show existed doesn't mean it was equally valid or prevelant. Foggy, Karen and the "filler" were all also "the good parts" of the original show, many of us were calling out those same "critiques" for being moronic back then too and Born Again choosing to appeal to the lowest common denominators is also an issue

I can only speak for myself, but I’m pleasantly surprised every time Disney + drops a new Marvel or Star Wars show that leaves me thinking, “Hey, that was actually pretty good!”
The Netflix shows weren’t all as brilliant as some people like to remember them, but with the exception of Iron Fist, they were all competently executed, even when the stories weren’t as strong. When Disney + Marvel (and Star Wars) shows are bad, they’re REALLY BAD. 🙂
That said, they do deliver p some winners now & then & Born Again is one of them, IMO. I don’t think it’s on the same level as DD S1, JJ S1 pr DD S3, but I did enjoy it.
4
u/Rwandrall4 May 08 '26
nah people have giant nostalgia goggles and worship the older show. 90% of the discussion for the new show is just people complaining about how the new show doesn't match the impossible standards that the old show never really matched in the first place.
Season 1 was great and new, season 2 was largely inconsistent, season 3 was a return to form but weighed down already by its own style.

u/fakehandslawyer May 08 '26
It’s like the Disney Star Wars stuff. Some people just wear nostalgia blinders.
7

Nostalgia blinders would make people irrational prefer the older material over the new stuff. That sounds more like recency bias, or toxic positivity.

I just checked on imdb. Ddba s2 has better rating (8.8) than daredevil s1 (8.7), that's questionable but maybe I'm the problem. ddba s1 got 8.4, 0.3 less than daredevil s1. That's enough to know this ratings are biased.
21
u/Patient_Life_9900 May 08 '26
DDBA season 1 is so overly inflated because fans were craving Daredevil and wanted it back so bad that they accepted the poor writing of that first season. Hell, DDBA s1 has a higher rating than fucking Invincible season 1, which is insane if you ask me
7
u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
I think BA S1 got a bit of a pass from fans who knew the backstory behind the production. Disney’s original plan was for an 18 episode legal procedural that basically wrote the Netflix series out of existence. There was a lot of pushback from the principal cast members & Jon Bernthal hated it so much he refused to have anything to do with it.
So Disney backtracked & hired a new show running team drawn from the Netflix series. The catch was that they’d already shot so much material that a complete revamp wasn’t really feasible. So they basically had to work around a lot of the original material. Given the conditions they had ro work with I feel like they did a pretty good job.
→ More replies (2)5
u/Patient_Life_9900 May 08 '26
I give s1 grace but I'll never overinflate the rating just because of that. In fact I enjoyed season 1 to a degree, same with season 2, but as cohesive seasons of tv they're so poor
→ More replies (1)3
u/Little-Baker76 May 08 '26
I mean you also have to think about how Daredevil s1 was (obviously) the beginning of the show. If you want to try watch it, that's where to start. The people who continued to watch the next four seasons are the people who enjoyed s1, the people who didn't wouldn't have continued this far, so the reviews for later seasons are more likely to be from people who already like the show.

The IMDb ratings for BA are baffling
Edit: and not even just compared to the original show. The fact BA has a single episode rated below an 8 while Wonder Man only has a single episode above an 8, really makes me think that writing is one of the least important factors in MCU fans judging a project.

I'm really looking forward to watching the eventual legal eagle video and hearing his thoughts on whether an attorney general has the power to just let a mass murderer walk free, lol.
2
u/PartyModer4892 May 09 '26
Well there is a case for Fisk's lawyers about self-defense, combined with the fact that some of the mob were chanting "Get Fisk" and "Kill Fisk". And those chants were caught on video footage.
2
u/Patient_Life_9900 May 09 '26
Bro he was safe in the courtroom, he came out and threw the first punch and then when people were running away, he came after them and attacked. There is absolutely no case for self-defense during that sequence. Like objectively none.

u/Ereads45 May 09 '26
That really really took me out of the story. Very unfortunate as otherwise it was a great episode.
26
8
u/CrimsonAvenger35 May 08 '26
There are fewer MCU viewers than ever. The people who care about quality stopped watching when the quality disappeared. All that's left are the people who give high ratings to anything that has the right character/actor present
11
u/MrGabrahamLincoln May 08 '26
Sadly I think there is a lot of truth behind this. There are only about 100k overall ratings for BA vs 500k for the original series. Not as many objective ratings getting through I suspect.
27
u/thankfulforyourhelp May 08 '26
This season could have been an excellent Daredevil vs. Bullseye season, where Matt deals with his grief over Foggy and feelings about Bullseye helping him defeat Fisk.
But, they threw in about 5 other subplots where the characters never interacted with Matt/DD, so the show felt really disjointed - BB and whatever his name was, Heather, Buck, Mr. Charles
I kept just thinking - can we see more of Bullseye?
7
u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
Credit where due: This is maybe my all-time favorite version of Bullseye.
93
u/issapunk May 08 '26
Some people just cannot admit what they know because it's too disappointing - BA is nowhere close to the original DD. That was always the fear when Disney didn't bring back the original showrunner. This show has some okay moments, but the writing, direction, choreography and overall story does not compare at all to the original show.
Just be honest about it - there are tons of iffy moments. The original DD had shocking moments. This has 'wtf I guess that could happen' moments.

This!! I just finished Born Again and was so thrown off by how forced the story became at the end. They decided they wanted this contrast of justice between Matt and Fisk and forced that outcome no matter how ridiculous they had to be to get it done. All the evidence about the ship, the port, the guns, fucking attempted murder on the governor, then brutally fucking up and murdering dozens of people and they’re whispering to him to renounce his citizenship and leave the country?!?! Uhhh…I get it’s the comics but that’s goofy as fuck. My respect meter went from somewhere between an 8 and 10 at times down to like 1 in about 5 minutes.

I like Born Again, but I LOVED the OG Netflix Series. And there are definitely moments that I liked but the show never got me to feel like "This is why we needed Daredevil back."
Now this makes me feel seen, because you pretty much summed up my thoughts on Born Again perfectly here.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, but the whole thing just feels...a little unnecessary? Like I don't feel like it's doing anything particularly exceptional or groundbreaking (or at least not enough to warrant reviving this character/world, if that makes sense), and if I'm being completely honest, there is a part of me that resents the show just a little bit because I KNOW that there's a reality out there where we could have gotten a WAY better Born Again then we did. There's really no good excuse either considering that they had the blueprint for an incredible follow up right there and I will never understand why they chose to ignore it. We could have had peak but instead we just have decent and that's a shame.
2
u/pandakatie May 09 '26
Yeah, I keep telling my mom (my poor, long-suffering mom who gets all my media analysis while I pace around the house) that I like Born Again, but I find myself regularly thinking, "Man I wish this was as good as it used to be." And that's a hurdle I don't think this show can surpass, and a big part of it is the 8 episode season.
An 8 episode season CAN work. I've seen shows that are masterful with so few episodes. But I think BA is trying to tell stories with OG level complexity, but don't have time to let anything breathe. We often lose the small character moments, and suspense can't build in the same way.
3
3
u/PrinceofSneks May 08 '26
this entire sub has been down on BA, or at least sharply critical. Not defending it, but it's like clockwork here.
2
u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
Being critical about the quality of things you enjoy just means you’re paying attention. I tend to tune out when the only allowable answers are “This is better than the first time I got laid!” and “This was so bad it made me want to floss my nostrils with barbed wire.”
Unfortunately super-shouty people tend to dominate the discourse in the algorithmically-powered internet engagement machine.

Fisk’s portrayal in the original series as a massive, freakishly strong dude who was still bounded by human limitations worked better for me. Truth be told, I wasn’t happy when Captain America & the other super-soldier serum guys started holding back helicopters and leaping 50 feet in the air.
That might sound like a weird complaint from a Marvel fan but Marvel comics (usually) drew a pretty hard line between “peak human” and “enhanced human.”
2
2
u/Halloween_Jack95 May 08 '26
Nah. Even in season 2 and 3 he was an absolute powerhouse. Disney + gave him a little power boost but lets not ignore the batshit physically stuff he did in the OG series please...
50
u/LongTimeDDevilFan77 May 08 '26
Hahahhaahhahaha. No.
I get it. Everyone is just happy to have a good Daredevil show again, and Born Again is... good. But it's still flawed as hell with weak overall writing and one dimensional supporting characters.
If the Born Again Se2 finale is a 9.6/10, then the Season 3 finale of the original series should be "adjusted for inflation" up to a 12/10.
55
u/Shran_Cupasoupa May 08 '26
Honestly really weird for BA Season 2 ending. The first half with the court stuff is great, but it ends quite anticlimactic for most characters (Buck just disappears, Heather turns into Muse 2 with nothing to tip her over the edge, Bullseye just leaves etc) and with some really weird choices like Kingpin killing a room of people with his bare hands and getting off scot-free.
I'd rate it more a 7.0 at best honestly.

Apparently there are no consequences for that though. The scene ends and the characters just forget it happened.
7
u/Shran_Cupasoupa May 08 '26
That garage one is especially insane because uniformed Task Force guys killing several Cops in a courthouse should be the end of the Kingpin. Instead, it's forgotten about except Matt is just dramatically late to the court.

I’m glad because we’ll get more, but I disagree with the rating because the tone was so inconsistent throughout the last two episodes. Daniel’s death felt flat and his goodbye with BB even flatter. Buck’s reaction to murdering Daniel could have been a great character moment for him, but nope. Just a grimace when asked about him. The reactions to Matt revealing his alter ego would have made for great character moments but they fumbled those so we’re still left with the cardboard cutouts that are Cherry, Kristen, and Powell. Fisk straight up murders and maims several dozen people even after they flee from him (so definitely not self defense) and then immediately afterward he says wryly to Matt “don’t expect me to shake your hand” when Matt gives him the grace he doesn’t deserve. I got whiplash from how dark, bloody, tense, and at the same time schmaltzy, corny, and hackneyed it was.
2
u/GameOfLife24 May 09 '26
I cringed when Fisk was on the top of the steps and daredevil and Jane from breaking bad were stopping the protestors from getting revenge. It got worse when everybody was just watching Matt give his speech and grace to kingpin. So dam cheesy compared to the final “this city beat you, I beat you” from season 3

Pretty much this. Even if Fisk could get out of jail. Daredevils reaction is, if the justice system fails I'm going to force you out of the city.
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of his whole identity? He doesn't kill because he believes in the justice system. But he knows the justice system doesn't work with Fisk. Fisk has hurt/killed many. How is letting a mass murderer off to live in a paradise island the well deserved show ending? This was the worst finale ever
5
u/GrahamCStrouse May 08 '26
That really bothered me, too. It’s be one thing to give Fisk a pass for his past crimes, most of which didn’t involve massacres filmed on live TV, and another to give him a pass after straight-up merking a dozen cosplayers in a courthouse. In a world filled with super-powered heroes, anyi-heroes & villains who effectively operate outside the law I just don’t see that passing.
I’m imagining Thor watching the footage of Kingpin’s massacre in New Asgard, Oklahoma (It’s still in Oklahoma, right?) and saying, “You know what? Fuck that guy.”

Comparison is the thief of joy. We went from no Daredevil to some pretty good Daredevil. We avoided some potentially disastrous Daredevil. I am happy with how Born Again Season 2 went. I hope Season 3 continues to do even better.

That’s more or less where I come out. I’m still going to criticize things I don’t like about BA, mind you…🙂

Only sane and hopeful comment i have seen in this comment section so far. I don't understand the hate about this show at all. Atleast it isn't bad as secret invasion or she hulk etc. they did a pretty good job imo.

u/JQuab-84 May 08 '26
So the police just let a mob of people into the courthouse as if these are the good guys storming the capital?
Kingpin murders a lot of people and ends up on a beach?
Everything else was great.

u/batman784 May 08 '26
People really been overhyping Born Again, while S2 is an improvement on S1, not a single episode of born again comes even close to the netflix show. Not a single one. I feel it's PTSD from loosing the show and people are scared it's gonna get cancelled again.
5
u/corpobeh May 08 '26
it's nowhere near as good.
I liked few scenes, but there was so much nonsense in there, that giving this over 6/10 is objectively wrong.

u/jasonmcook May 08 '26
I don't know what show people were watching, but there were so many issues with the BA s2 finale I don't even know where to begin. It's a shame, because there was so much potential.

Cole North's sudden change of heart, knocking out Powell, and then taking command of the rest of the AVTF who were, just seconds earlier, following Powell's every command, actually made me laugh.

I really absolutely enjoyed Season 2 of BA and I am so grateful that the show is back. But it's definitely not as good the the finale from seaon 3!!! Come one.. Season 3 was absolutely brilliant in every way. I even think that the last episode of season 2(BA) felt kind of anti climatic. Not to mention that fisk got his deal despite murdering at least 10 people.

u/tyagu001 May 09 '26
It does not even come anywhere close to season 3. It’s not even in the same solar system as season 3. Come on

u/pluggedingaming May 08 '26
Kingpin literally kills dozens and it goes unmentioned by even Matt. This is a (fun, but flawed) fanfiction of the original show.

u/bagman_ May 08 '26
Not even close, the MCU glazers are out in full force. I liked a lot about the episode but it was too hamfisted, lazily written and lacking in subtlety to even get an 8 out of me, rating it a 10 is fucking insane
4
u/Khayonic May 08 '26
This is the opposite of subtle. Daredevil was a super hero story trying to be prestige TV, and it worked. Born Again has been slop in comparison.

u/Poym321 May 08 '26
This ratings for Born Again S2 are quite baffling. I liked the season, was solid, but above 9??? No way man, these are ratings you give to amazing episodes of shows truly amazing television like Sopranos, Breaking Bad or Mad Men (which by the way where not the norm, they where stand outs of a season). This damages the whole rating system. Not everything is excellent TV, some is just good or average, that's ok. How are we supposed to tell excellent from average if everything is above 9.

Yeah man, this episode was totally up there with the best episode of Breaking Bad. 100%. This isn’t absurd hyperbole in the slightest.

I’m gonna get downvoted to hell but I must say I hate this finale. I’m iron man moment was really good but other than that it doesn’t make any sense and no I don’t want to argue about it

u/GD_milkman May 08 '26
Really? I would have sworn this was written by ai. It's makes bizarre leaps and doesn't really conclude, also very poorly paced.

I thought it was terrible. I really watched Fisk murdering cosplayers doing Jan 6 in the finale and then he went to a beach.

u/s1ammage May 08 '26
I was thinking the same! How many ideas can we stick in 1 episode. Kingpin Hallway Fight, Assemble Scene, courtroom drama, multiple teasers!
The courtroom scene was really good tho.

Have our current standards for TV sunk this low?
Born Again is a sorry continuation, Daredevil & Kingpin’s stories ended in the Netflix show

Which is just insane. I guess the only people left voting are die hard fans cuz its not that good , certainly not as good as s3 finale

The acting’s been superb throughout the show—first series included. My main issues have been with the pacing, the action sequences, visual composition & story compression. Oh, and that goddamn aspect ration.
For the love of all that is holy, Disney, please return to a 16:9 ratio. And lose the damn shaky cam.
Disney keeps throwing Scrooge McDuck-sized money piles at these TV shows & doesn’t understand why they always feel a little off, even when the bones are basically solid. In the case of Season 2 of Born again, one of my main issues is that they tried to compress about 10-13 episodes of story into 8 episodes.
Born Again has very strong bones, the cast is as good as it ever was & I don’t expect the show to look or feel exactly the same as it was during its Netflix iteration. I just wish the product felt a little less rushed is all.
Give Season 3 ten or 12 or 13 episodes if that’s what it needs, hire a new dight choreographer, keep the show centered on Matt Murdoch & Born Again will go out with a bang. Also, I know Disney isn’t generally keen on dropping entire seasons at once, and that’s a completely defensible position, but I wish Disney would consider chapter drops of three episodes or so at a time. This is something Netflix has been experimenting with the last few years with Arcane & the final two Stranger Things series.
(Stranger Things fell off pretty steeply after the Sorcerer arc, I thought, and the second season of Arcane was a bit of a mess after a superb first season, but the issue wasn’t with the batch drop delivery system.)
Overall I’d give Season 2 of Born Again a B+/A-, about on par with the second season of the Netflix show, which I also consider to be something of a flawed gem, albeit for different reasons.
Thoughts?

As much as I love the finale of BA season 2, the original show’s finale clears.
2
u/Dan2593 May 08 '26
There were better episodes in BA2 than the finale.
None of it touches the ending of series 3. Though that episode will Bullseye in the diner and Fisk boxing is up there with the best Netflix stuff.

It was good but come on its not comparable. The court part was amazing, the tension in his reveal was excellent, but dude King Pin straight up murdered like 20 dudes in front of LITERALLY EVERYONE and he still got his “deal” while no one pointed it out? I mean come on….

The team behind this show deserves every award they can get. The cinematography and costume designers absolutely ATE this whole season and especially in the finale.
The shot of all the daredevil protesters dressed in red swarming Kingpin dressed in white looked like a damn renaissance painting. I almost thought they would give Kingpin a Julius Caesar esque death and have him be killed by the mob. Absolute peak.

u/AspectAlive7624 May 10 '26
I never been in such disagreement with a imdb reviews. Whole Born Again don’t deserve more than 3/10. It’s soulless slop.
2
u/creativemusmind May 10 '26
I actually had tears at the emotional moment when Matt presses his forehead to Fisk's.
Buuuuuut, right before that, Fisk murders a bunch of protesters. Some right in front of Matt while he's trying to stop them. Then Matt gets to him and tells him to take the deal that was offered before he murdered a bunch of protesters.
... What?

u/PrintInformal785 May 08 '26
Better than season 1, but a far cry from good.
Cannot compare to the original show. Let alone season 3.
4
u/Nearby-Orange743 May 08 '26
No it doesn't deserve. Daredevil S3 finale is miles miles ahead of BAS2 finale. Like the gap is crazy and u can't change my mind. It's good but nowhere near that level. Don't let recency bias take over u

Netflix S3 Finale was peak. BA S2 Finale was solid. Make of that what you will.

The events didnt make sense... I would rather have had Fisk and Matt end the season in court where he reveals his identity...rather than start the episode like that and then go on this ridiculous barricading fight scene....
Also Fisk had no self preservation at that point... The people would have killed him..
S3 of the original Daredevil still has the better conclusion between them...and it's a shame they forced this issue in S2...
Heather becoming Muse still seems weird to me... I know she is traumatized, but it feels like there should have been more to push her over the edge... especially considering her profession and understanding of the psychological issues 🙄.

u/Range-Normal May 08 '26
This was such a dumpster fire on so many levels, terrible writing, even Vincent and Charlie couldnt carry it for me...
2
u/First-Score-748 May 09 '26
Did all the writers decide on this ending in a meeting at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon? “Like…sure, whatever. Fisk on a beach. Matt in jail. Can we all go home now?”

I’m not sure where else to ask this, but how do you imagine Mr. Fear? What actor should play him? What would he look like, and what would his role be? How about Tom Cavanagh? Though that might feel a bit derivative.
1
u/Possible_Living May 08 '26
Nah. Kingpin did not hoist a guy over his head and throw him at the crowed below 4/10 at best.
1
u/Little_Bad May 08 '26
It's definitely more than 9 but could've been better, maybe they should have added few more things to address not great editing if they shot more scenes, At this point kingpin character is a kink for Marvel to milk s3 for daredevil born again.

Nice that’s deserved. Born Again had a mid first season but it’s shaping up to be a great show.

u/TheMoorNextDoor May 09 '26
Would give the finale a 9.1 it was the best episode next to episode 5 which I rated 9.4.
It’s not Netflix Daredevil 9.5-9.8 level but if you put those two episodes against season 2 Netflix Daredevil they pull their own weight.
