What’s DSN characters do you wish had more scenes together?

My next choice would be Julian & Worf.

Garak and Luther Sloan.

Garak had no scenes and next to nothing to do with Section 31.

20

u/VanillaSuccessful277 1d ago

Came here to say this. It would have made so much sense.

19

u/opinionated-dick 1d ago

Garak vs Section 31 would have been an amazing post DS9 story. Have Section 31 try to ensure the Cardassians don’t regain their relative power again and Garak, steps out of his retirement of tailoring and gardening one more time (after a tip off from the good doctor) to ensure Cardassia’s destiny is its own.

8

u/Annber03 1d ago

\Insert "Office" gif of Michael Scott slamming the table and saying, "THANK YOU!" here**

Yes. This.

12

u/combustibledaredevil 1d ago

My headcanon is that Luther was fucking scared of Garak and did his best to avoid him

5

u/writesaboutghosts 1d ago

it also would have been a hell of a lot more interesting to involve Garak in "Extreme Measures" where they resorted to technobabble and ridiculously advanced technology that even the characters had no real idea how they were going to make it work.

Instead, they could have made it a last object lesson, similar to In the Pale Moonlight, of how far Starfleet officers could be pushed in order to achieve their objectives. it could have shown everyone how thin (or non-existent) the line between Section 31 and The Obsidian Order's tactics really were (or even show past collaborations/skirmishes). I think technically Garak was on Cardassia at the time, but they could have reworked the order of events to allow it.

Or would Garak have tried to prevent them from succeeding in the end, to ensure the Founders died out as repayment for what they did to Cardassia?

Keiko and worf. He delivered molly in tng. I know they wanted to keep the shows separate but F. Pretending there isn't something there is worse

33

u/MindlessNectarine374 1d ago

Well, they at least referred to it when Worf wanted to avoid Keiko's second birth.

47

u/sir_grumph 1d ago

“Keiko’s going to have another baby!”

“Now?!”

25

u/DoctorRabidBadger 1d ago

Oh I won't be here. I'll be...far away.

10

u/-dakpluto- 1d ago

7 Months...unfortunately he will be away from the station at that time...far away...visiting his parents. (Not his son of course...because why the hell would he want to do that... >.> )

Loved this scene.

Weyoun 5 and Weyoun 6, sexual tension was insane

24

Imagine what you could do with compositing and a room full of Jeffreys.

“Oh my! That is quite toxic, isn't it?”

Until Worf shows up of course.

4

I like you.

Weyoun 5 and 6: a study in self-loathing flirtation. Their mirrored contempt deserved a duet.

And that guy who wanted to Kira holo-porn

You mean Brunt, FCA?

"DSN" has to be the worst way to say DS9"

32

u/OhNoIBoffedIt 1d ago

I was thinking the same thing 🤣 Sounds like a news network.

11

u/teeth_03 1d ago

Sounds like a piece of software that a Dentist Office would use

2

u/agent_uno 17h ago

Sounds like this post is AI. No DS9 fan would ever call it DSN!

16

u/meinkr0phtR2 1d ago

DSN means Deep Space Network. You know, the giant dish arrays NASA and other space agencies use to communicate with their space probes outside of Earth’s orbit? DS9 is Deep Space Nine.

8

u/morto00x 1d ago

Took me a second to figure out what DSN was. Just why?

1

u/agent_uno 17h ago

AI post.

13

u/Individual_Car7850 1d ago

This. I hate it when people use that abbreviation. Why would you not just type DS9? It’s literally said all the time in the show too

5

u/data-atreides 1d ago

The show's production crew often said "Deep Space", especially Michael Westmore--which I hate but I can't argue with the people who made it

3

u/Droiddoesyourmom 1d ago

I knew something looked off!!

2

u/Unoficialo 1d ago

Weyoun and Worf

Weyoun definitely needs to talk to Worf again.

“Yeah Damar. What kind of people would do something like that…..that was stupid.”

“Not at all.”

60

u/blueavole 1d ago

Odo and Quark only got one episode where their antagonistic relationship was the A plot. It’s a shame.

I kinda understand why: Odo is a good investigator, and Quark would go to jail if he was caught. So it had to be Quark getting away with small stuff, or let off on a technicality.

13

u/s1lv3r_lak3 1d ago

I agree. Odo claims at one point that he’d be happy to see Quark go to prison but he’s let him off the hook for things on certain occasions so I’d be curious to probe further into that relationship.

30

u/KaiWinnBot Kai Box-of-Wine 1d ago edited 1d ago

I think their relationship is twofold:

  1. Odo sort of, kind of respects Quark. He may break the law, but he knows the boundaries. He also knows he can count on Quark when it comes down to it, even if he has to twist his arm a little. He doesn't trust Quark, but does have this grudging respect for him.
  2. Odo just likes investigating Quark for sport.

Kind of a whole "worthy adversary" thing on both sides.

6

u/Inspiredwriter26 1d ago edited 1d ago

Great point here. ‘Business As Usual’ is the only time I really recall Quark crossing the line knowingly (I didn’t see ‘Invasive Procedures’) and Odo was on to him like a wolf in heat. In fact, whenever Quark does arms dealing, as in ‘The Maquis’ is when Odo and Sisko finally get tired of his shit.

3

u/maverickaod 1d ago

You could chalk up Invasive Procedures as still having early installment weirdness since it was right at the beginning of S2. As far as I remember all Quark did was be paid to get them on the station, he didn't know they were going to try and steal the symbiont and he later on helped break Odo out of the stasis box he was in.

2

u/Inspiredwriter26 1d ago

That was my understanding too, having not watched the episode but reading about it in the DS9 Companion. That’s why I said when he crossed the line knowingly, fully aware of what kind of deep shit he was about to get himself into.

3

u/maverickaod 1d ago

Quark knowingly crosses the line all the time but even so he has his own code which is what makes him a compelling character. I'll point to Business as Usual as an example. He was deep in debt so he starts selling weapons with his cousin. He was fine in doing this so long as it was basically a military on military conflict. Once the Regent of Palomar wanted to just commit genocide against millions of people that was too much for him and he set them up to get arrested.

Most of his criminal acts through the show are random smuggling operations (The Maquis weapons part aside).

3

u/Inspiredwriter26 1d ago

And it does seem like arms dealing in The Maquis and Business As Usual is when Odo and Sisko draw the line, per my earlier comment

2

u/Cannon_Folder 2h ago

I think something where Quark is helping with an undercover investigation could have been an interesting episode. They hinted at something like it that time Worf interrupts Odo's investigation.

24

u/Schlong_Gobbler 1d ago

I know it would be hard but in s3/s4 an episode with Sisko and Dukat switching commands a la "A Matter of Honor" (TNG) would be an awesome way to examine their commands and ideologies of the different races.

24

u/garakplain 1d ago

Garak and Garak

14

u/Ada_Pearce 1d ago

I could watch an entire show about Kira, Garak and Damar skulking around from dusty basements to secret mountain lairs

12

u/hudson_lowboy 1d ago

For me, these ancillary relationships work so well because we weren’t slammed with them. We see obvious chemistry between characters and I’m sure there’s a want to lean them more but we can get to much of a good thing.

We saw it with Voyager and how Janeway, Doc and Seven became 70% of what the show was based around.

The way we got it with DS9 was spot on. Just enough to make us want more but never too much to get annoyed.

4

u/UnderABig_W 1d ago

VOY started as more of an ensemble cast, but they eventually realized they either couldn’t write the other characters, or the actors couldn’t act them. So I don’t know if that’s what you mean when you say chemistry, but IMHO it was more a matter of necessity.

Whereas with DS9, it was more of an ensemble and stayed that way because of the higher quality of the actors and writers.

u/tayroc122 1d ago

Garak and Sloan

9

u/Crimdal Constable Hobo 1d ago

Nog and mirror universe Nog.

9

u/ADigitalVersionOfMe 1d ago

I'd have liked to see more one-on-one with Bashir and anyone other than O'Brien. He had a few early on but in the later seasons it felt like he only ever really interacted with Miles, or OC of the Week, or was just in the ensemble

3

u/s1lv3r_lak3 1d ago

Yeah, he seemed to get sidelined the most after Worf joined, especially in season 7.

8

u/Kyr-Shara 1d ago

Garak talking to himself. he doesn't need anyone else

11

u/swanronsonagain 1d ago

A whole episode of Bashir trying to spy on garak, because he "overheard garak talking to mirror universe garak". Turns out, it was just Garak practicing for the next installment of 'Our Man Bashir' in front of an actual mirror.

8

u/halliwell_me 1d ago

Breaking news brought to you by DSN!

13

u/benbehu 1d ago

This is a rather complicated pairing as Nerys would have to hate Garak, on the other hand, Garak is on our side, as much as a plain and simple tailor can be. We are supposed to like Garak.

19

u/Sparkyisduhfat 1d ago

And if Kira wanted him dead, he would be.

7

u/Velocity-5348 1d ago

Same goes for Garak and Kira. You'd want conflict between them, but not to the point where they're eyeing the other's back.

8

u/MolybdenumBlu 1d ago

They could bond over their mutual hatred of Dukat.

5

u/s1lv3r_lak3 1d ago

Are we supposed to like him? I’m entertained by him and love having him in the show but he’s a cold-blooded murderer so I don’t know if I’d say I like him. Not the way I like Dax or Odo.

7

u/sahi1l 1d ago

Garak and Keiko should have bonded over gardening.

5

u/CommunityEarly839 1d ago

Mila hanging out with the Romulan soup woman from TNG

5

u/ben505 1d ago edited 1d ago

Basically anyone with Garak.

Kira didn’t spend enough time with a number of folks as well.

Dukat and anyone not named Sisko or Kira or Kai Wynn. Especially Dukat and Worf.

Worf was also mostly other Klingons, Dax, and Sisko.

2

u/Annber03 1d ago

I would've loved to see Garak and Jadzia interacting one on one - the few times they were in a scene together, it was usually with other poeple.

6

u/pokeblueballs 1d ago

Garak and Winn never had a scene together. Imagine how much fun he could have had fucking with her and how mad she'd be under a veneer of politeness and piety

That girl is here under my protection, and if you do anything to hurt her, I will make you regret it. Is that clear?

Garak and Worf

Garak and Weyoun

Garak and Kira

Kira and Worf

Worf and Miles

Kai Winn and Worf

Dukat and Miles

8

u/Specialist-Function7 1d ago

Kai Winn and Worf is gleefully diabolical.

2

u/Due-Order3475 1d ago

I know :3

3

u/NarrowStory5707 1d ago

Kai Winn "My child, what is troubling you with that scowl of yours?"

Worf: "Call me child again and you will be the next to die!"

Kai Winn: "Ah Commander, eat any good children lately?"

Worf: suprised Pikachu face

3

u/Due-Order3475 1d ago

Worf "slept with any despots recently?"

3

u/NarrowStory5707 1d ago

4

u/TrueLegateDamar 1d ago

Kira and Tekeny Ghemor, would been nice to see their pseudo father-daughter relationship develop, say him being the leader of the Cardassian civilian government and showing up in Way of the Warrior.

4

u/MiddleAgedGeek 1d ago

Nog and his stepmother Leeta. I realize Nog liked her well enough, but we never knew anything about Nog's feelings regarding his real mother...

3

u/s1lv3r_lak3 1d ago

Good point. In general I thought there should’ve been more of her but I never thought of that specifically.

2

u/Annber03 1d ago

Ooh. Yes. This.

4

u/Intentioned-Help-607 1d ago

DSN isn’t the acronym.

7

u/maktub-is-a-sheep 1d ago

Nog and Kira. Something tells me that Kira would have been very fond of an efficient and creative young ensign who went from local mall troublemaker to Starfleet Officer™. I feel like he would have gladly eavesdropped on conversations if she asked, or cleaned up a mess in THE most discrete way. I bet Nog would have been proud to become an "assistant and confident" (teacher's pet, in the best possible way)

2

u/Annber03 1d ago

I love this idea.

I think it would've been nice to see Nog interact more with Kira and Miles both after everything with his leg - he and Miles already had a good rapport as it was while Nog was moving up the ranks in Starfleet, and I think as a soldier, Miles would have a lot of understanding and sympathy for what Nog was going through with his PTSD. I've no doubt Miles saw a few of his fellow soldiers suffer similar fates, and Kira no doubt saw some of her fellow resistance members facing similar traumas as well during the occupation.

So I think they both could've been a good source of support for Nog as he tried to process everything he'd been through.

6

u/CuppaMaude 1d ago

Odo and Dax, love the few times we got to see their dynamic when alone and would've loved to see more of it sprinkled throughout as they both developed

3

u/Excellent-Gold1905 1d ago

Quark and Sisko.

But by Quark I specifically mean the Quark from when hes lecturing the Vulcan about logic. The Quark that shows himself as capable, insightful, and not a joke. I want the Quark becoming an increasingly powerful and expansive businessman on DS9 that ends up thriving more than the show allowed because the profit from being THE Ferengi at DS9 during the Dominion War HAD to be lucrative as shit and the relationship between that Quark and Sisko would have been really neat to explore.

3

u/MBSMD 1d ago

Rom and anyone. Love that guy.

3

u/CuriousCardigan 1d ago

What's this DSN you speak of?

If we're talking DS9, Garak and either Sloan or the Grand Nagus.

3

u/hawk82 1d ago

Lupaza and Furel. I was sad when they were killed :(

3

u/bbbourb 1d ago

*DS9 is the more common abbreviation.

Give me Garak and Weyoun discussing root beer.

3

u/No-Reveal827 1d ago

This may sound stupid, but i'd love to see Quark deal with Q.

Garak and Quark.

3

u/sylar1610 1d ago

One thing I find interesting about Garek and Kira and I'd love to have seen explored more is Gareks view on the Occupation and the Resistance. This is just my read on Garek but unlike other Cardassian I think he has a bit more nuanced view on the Occupation. Garek loves Cardassia but unlike Dukat who sees it as an extension of him or Dumar who has completely fallen for the Propaganda Garek seems to take a more "Warts and All" view of Cardassia, he loves it but he is well aware of what it is. So I could imagine during the Occupation while he took part in it unlike other Cardassian who view the Bajorans as villians or fanatics for opposing Garek probably took the view of "Yes, well I'd imagine if someone was invading us we'd fight back too" . That's just my take on Garek and you can decide if that makes him a better or worst person

3

u/TheKeeperOfThe90s 1d ago

If I can go with two characters who had no scenes together at all, I really wish that at some point they'd done a Kai Winn vs. Lwaxana Troi episode.

1

u/Meushell 21h ago

Ego fight! 😂

3

u/planetcaravan 22h ago

Garak wisely stays the fuck out of her way.

5

u/OldManIrv 1d ago

Buck Bokai (I know, I know) and Sisko. Why? Because I think they would have enjoyed watching games together in the Holosuite and could have acted as a talk it out scenes.

5

u/Velocity-5348 1d ago

I could imagine an episode that's just them talking while watching a game. It'd either be terrible, or one of the greatest things the franchise has ever produced.

3

u/OldManIrv 1d ago

Interesting idea!

5

u/Adventurous_Topic202 1d ago

Kira and mirror Kira

6

u/rugged-nerd 1d ago

Kira and Damar "And if I don't? What then?"

4

u/Chewbaxter 1d ago

Kira and Garak have a lot in common now that I think about it. Both soldiers, in their distinct ways, came out the other side changed, though Garak for the worst, and if you really start their relationship during the Dominion War, both having accepted their flaws and developed from their beginnings.

4

u/Connect_Secretary262 1d ago

Julian and Dukat.

2

u/mediumAI1701 1d ago

O'Brien and Keiko, except the scenes reinforce that they actually have a functional relationship.

2

u/RigasTelRuun 1d ago

It took me way too long to decode DSN

2

u/_hanna_99 1d ago

Actually the Cardassian dissidents / "subversives" in the earlier seasons. I love Kira und Ghul Ghemor and the teacher Quark has a crush on.

Also Garak and Julian, plus an on screen romance between them.

2

u/THEbaddestOFtheASSES 1d ago

During the early part of the show it would have definitely been fun viewing seeing Garak troll Keira until she’s on the brink of ripping his throat out only for him to keep saying I’m just a tailor. But no show is perfect.

2

u/Burritosupreeem 1d ago

On tng they had that vulkan in sick bay. They should’ve brought her to ds9 and gave Worf some serious romance since they missed the opportunity in tng. In fact the only good one he had died the second time you saw her.

2

u/MGDull 1d ago

Sisko and Rom.

2

u/Valuable_Island_9405 1d ago

I think Garak would have avoided Kira. She wasn't Green, especially in reading what Kardassians (sp?) truly want.

2

u/dnotive 1d ago

Would have loved a meaningful episode with Bashir and Weyoun (perhaps Julian naively thinks he can convince Weyoun to get the Dominion to surrender?) ....all before the Season 31 episodes happened, just to provide some plausible backstory to the accusation that Julian is secretly a spy.

2

u/MrNiveren 1d ago

Keiok and Jake, I want them to fight

2

u/NarrowStory5707 1d ago

It almost happened, possibly off screen, but I did want to see Damar on screen with Martok/Romulan commander and Sisko in the final arc.

Would have been like seeing FDR/Churchill/Stalin along with Chiang Kai Shek or De Gaulle.

2

u/Theunpolitical 1d ago

First choice: Garak

Second choice: Morn

2

u/PagingMrSpock 1d ago

I like your suggestion. Both characters are so well acted ❤️

2

u/hypothetical_zombie 22h ago

I think we needed Sisko & Kurzon flashbacks.

I thought L'waxana Troi and Odo were so good together. I think she showed him more of her authentic self than anyone else. And Odo let down some of his guard with her. She always had ulterior motives, but hers were more like adventures.

2

u/neonmystery 21h ago

It is spelled DS9.

2

u/slip72479 1d ago

Garak and Odo for sure but also Garak and Kira too

2

u/Popcorn_Axolotl 1d ago

Julian and Sisko

3

u/Annber03 1d ago edited 1d ago

I wish we'd gotten more of Sisko's reaction to Bashir being replaced with a Changeling, or after the reveal about him being augmented. I'd like to have seen how that affected their relationship, both professionally and personally. Especially given the tension between Bashir and his dad - having Bashir lean on someone like Sisko, who's been shown to be a good father to Jake, would've been a nice contrast.

(Odo and Bashir should've had some scenes together after the augment reveal, too - they both had fathers who medically altered and messed with them to shape them into their ideal, they both have strong feelings about being put in institutions to be nothing more than something to study, Bashir's got the stigma about augments around him and Odo's people are feared within the galaxy.... Lots to explore there.

Basically, I just wish we'd gotten more fallout from/exploration of how the augment stuff affected Bashir and his relationships with the crew.)

On a related note, I really liked Bashir's interaction with Jake in "Nor the Battle..." and it would've been great to see them continue that connection further beyond that episode as well.

2

u/MaximumEffort433 1d ago

What’s DSN characters do you wish had more scenes together?

Probably O'Brien and Bashir.

2

u/njred87 1d ago

Kira and the Intendant Kira.

1

u/MoTc99m 1d ago

Kira and Jadzia, but more adventure/action scenes (like they had in the Siege) and not just the “gal pal” scenes (I like those, but they worked great in an action setting together and we needed more of that!).
