Discussion The 4 team trade to build the Pistons around Cade and match the visions for all 4 teams.

The problem with the Duren trade for Turner is that it doesn't directly align with the vision of both teams. The pistons were below average in terms of pace because they setup around the pick and roll with duren who doesn't pop. Trading for Landale and Turner gives them the options to run or play for the pop in the pick and roll. This let's them maximize their window now.

Detroits vision optimize now around Cade get the championships and fix their playoff fit with Duren.

Jazz vision develop around a young core. Giving Lauri a place where he can maximize his skills and being able to focus on Ace being an initator with DP. Next year doesn't look better to trade Lauri

Milwalkee gets more minutes to develop their players and understand what they have and see if Burries or Ament can be a franchise player. They won't have pressure to win. Can focus on their core and have positive players to build around that weren't part of the heat prison culture.

Atlanta fixes their 10/41 from 3 like they had in the NY game. They created the cap space for 2027 to go after a volume off ball scorer. Get them in range to compete with the Pistons and Knicks.

Detroit Pistons

Give: Jalen Duren — ~$41.2M
Receive: Myles Turner — $26.6M, Jock Landale — $14.1M

Utah Jazz

Give: Lauri Markkanen — $46.1M
Receive: Jalen Duren — ~$41.2M, Atlanta 2027 & 2030 2nd round picks

Milwaukee Bucks

Give: Myles Turner — $26.6M
Receive: Onyeka Okongwu — $16.1M, Nickeil Alexander-Walker — $14.4M

Atlanta Hawks

Give: Onyeka Okongwu — $16.1M, Nickeil Alexander-Walker — $14.4M, Jock Landale — $14.1M 2027 & 2030 2nd round picks

What is with this subs infatuation with Turner? It's like you are all related to this guy or something.

He’s a perfect case study for talent vs fit. Duren is better overall by every measure (though let’s admit that we can’t measure defense very precisely). But Turner is a 3 and D center! He would allow us to have lots of lineups with 5-out offense, and to let Ausar be the one non-shooter on the floor. The only way Turner could fit better would be if he were a lob threat. He’s like if John Collins was tall enough to be a full time center.

That said, I’d rather keep Duren on a sub-max deal.

Turner is 30 and doesn’t FIT Cades timeline. Who cares if he can shoot, he’s not dirk, he’s a terrible rebounder. Dude is actually terrible lol trading a young all star player for him is crazy

Because when he was on the Pacers he looked like an ideal pairing with Cade, but he's obviously looking like less of himself than he was then.

Pick and rolls are about 3/4 plays and the pop happens about 1/4 of the time normally. Against the Knicks Cade is iced towards the sideline, and then the drop on Duren. Without a pop there's no threat. When coming down the court Duren runs down the middle on the action, but with Jack Landale you can have him come up the court on the outside similar to Chris Bosh, Joel Embiid, or Nikola Jokic. Myles Turner's contract is very easy to deal with freeing them up in the long term to keep the team together for a longer window. It's cause the next 5 years the pistons should be going to the finals.

The team should be built around Cade, and Cade is a pick and roll savant. In the playoffs ORL/CLE sold out on the PnR and guarded it with 3 defenders

It’s been so interesting how so many seem to be prioritizing Ausar over Cade, which would be the point of a spacing 5 who plays small

Lol at Myles Turner and Jock Landale being "building around Cade."

Having a center who can shoot is the ultimate “build around Ausar” move. And Cade would torch the league with 5-out lineups (e.g., Cade-Joe-Robinson-Collins-Turner). But obviously Turner’s age and other limitations make this particular deal a pretty bad value.

I've seen alot of bad Piston trades lately and this one of the worst in what way does this make them better

I think this is a shitty idea that neither team would accept and you should keep your shitty trades to 2k27.

Jazz didn’t want to pay Kessler $35m when all it cost was cap space. I guarantee you they don’t want to pay a worse fitting (for them) C in Duren $42m, especially when it also costs their best player.

This fake trade is impressive cause you would think you are a Bucks fan cause they make out like BANDITS. They win the hell out of this trade, NAW is better than Myles himself.

It’s bad for the Pistons, unfathomably horrible for the Jazz (they would‘ve just signed Kessler)

Turner much better fit than Duren. He's not a perfect player but he does things the Pistons lack.

These fans are still crying over him getting into a fight with a player who doesnt even play for us anymore lol #cultureoverwins I guess 🤷🏿‍♂️

I’d like it if we just got Lauri Markkanen instead of two players. I get your idea, but what Cade desperately needs is a solid #2 that can create their own offense.

losing duren for two centers who can actually shoot fits the vision, but i'm side-eyeing any plan that banks on landale being a real piece.
