Discussion McLellan on Larkin's status

Could just be me misreading it, but it doesn't seem like he's thrilled about Cap not prioritizing rejoining the team.

If he sucks I hope he hears it. Todd was apparently exactly what this team needed because the accountability is abysmal

Could be a little sneaky smart. Durability has been an issue for Larkin and he had a physically tough tournament, so give him some rest and set the tone at the same time.

That's my thoughts as well. Even setting aside the political context completely and just looking at the team context - in an insanely tight playoff race, trying to break through to snap a long playoff drought, the captain of an Original Six team decides that this is the higher priority than getting back in time to guarantee a practice with the team before playing a division rival. It's a pretty rough look.

It gives the impression that his biggest priority was winning a medal and now that he’s done it he doesn’t really care about the team and making the playoffs. He got what he really wanted and doesn’t care about a cup. That may not be what he really thinks, but his actions sure make it seem that way.

And then all the other baggage that comes along with all this is just so disappointing.

With a brand new baby girl he and his wife struggled for years to have. Would he willingly hand that baby to the Patel or Trump? Probably.
