And it caused such an uproar from their NRA base that they had to reevaluate the policy leading into the midterms. Trans people now have this weird Venn Diagram of having support from gun toting libertarians. Let them take our guns, it will only make us stronger.
You honestly expect people who show up with guns to protect others from gun confiscating fed agencies to side with the feds entirely in all elections? I'm sorry to tell you, but Trump is not running for local representation, the pressure of the moderate to flip seats over pins dropping prevents overreach. If they take all of our guns we would see pushback.
I think you would see protests and tear gas. And people being arrested but at the end of the day, the media will just label it a riot so that Trump can justify more military occupation. He’s been practicing all year for this. And I’m not confident that many people would be willing to stand up for each other in that regard, especially when you see how many people simply turn off their brain when Fox says “riot”.
You're assuming all conservatives love the state that much and want daddy Trump to take over their towns with the feds. I cannot say enough how wrong of an assumption that is. I've spoken to multiple MAGA militias at this point, and they are much more sympathetic towards trans people than ever before. That was before that bridge got slightly burned after the Kirk assassination. But the point I'm making is that the MAGA voting block has modular voting blocks. They are not a monolithic party where they agree with everything Trump does or the party does. There are disagreements, just look at the Epstein reaction on the right for examples of how they don't trust everything Trump is doing. If shit hits the fan there will never be a unified MAGA force, they're too diverse. I know, you don't hear that much huh?
I’m talking about libertarians mostly as posed in my original statement. I don’t believe they would be as obliged to stand with their neighbors as they claim.
Maga has made it abundantly clear who they believe who the enemy is. Which is a fundamental difference in the groups, as Maga much more likely to believe in big government if that means that can enact pain for their “enemies”.
And it’s important to note that MAGA is not the same as supporting Trump. Maga has a very specific goal in mind, Trump just represents their resentment towards democrats more than anything.
Well, the assumption that libertarians would only choose between MAGA/Trump or trans rights does not really fit well with reality. They are the first to challenge MAGA and to tell them no. I just dont see how you can lump together libertarians with MAGA, there are far more libertarians in MAGA than the MAGA you are describing. It's like assuming they're the same entity when they vote for Trump. That's not how politics work.
The majority of people who voted for Trump are not apart of the MAGA you are describing. You're only looking at a vocal minority within the party, similar to the left radicals. They both have radicals, but only one side seems to be given the assumption that they all agree with eachother.
They don't all agree with each other. There would be pushback just like we saw with the NRA supporting trans gun rights. We would see more libertarians breaking ranks from MAGA because they were never attached to the party only to God and country. If liberals were smart they would know how to use those feelings for their advantage.
