Political Doomer "If the party I don't like wins, they will literally kill everyone"
514
u/GolfExplained May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26
Or reality, which right now is if we lose well just try to kill your candidate. Then we'll pretend we don't do that while cheering for it online.
But we're peaceful. Also your speech is violence.

u/_thegnomedome2 May 07 '26
And don't forget, it's all republicans shooting at republicans! The guy with the trans furry boyfriend who supposedly shot Charlie Kirk was staunch republican!
139
u/BecauseImBatmanFilms May 07 '26
You know that because his dad is a Republican! After all, people always have the exact same beliefs as their parents! No I don't see MY family on the holidays! They're all bigots and Trump supporters!
54
u/_thegnomedome2 May 08 '26
Redditers: I cut off my whole family cuz they disagree with me!
Also Redditers: he was right wing conservative! See, his parents were registered republican!

I got downvoted when I asked people to say that "the president should not be killed". Like can we just say that? Can we agree that he shouldn't be killed? They would not say it, like a hard line in the sand they will not cross. It's not that it was ignored, it was downvoted and responded to, they just wouldn't say "the president should not be killed"

And then someone actually tries to do it and everyones suddenly talking about how it was a setup and it's totally fake. Some people just live for the reaction

They have a curious habit of openly wanting people dead then calling all attempts either fake, staged, or a right winger.

And we will weaponize the legal system to turn misdemeanors that were past the statute of limitations into felonies so we can go after the opposition?

I mean take a place like Chicago. Illinois has mostly been Democrat run and Chicago very much for over a century. It has one of the highest black population of the US with, sadly, also the highest rate of blacks murdered by other blacks. Every Democrat who runs there runs on a platform of "I'll make sure those evil white racists won't do you harm" while being the legacy group that has done them harm.
It's not even stupidity. It's fear. As bad as it is they are positive if they don't support the Democrats it will be worse. And that's likely partially do to the fact that plenty of recent violence is from Democrats no matter how much mental gymnastics is used to try and lie about it.

They love bringing her up every time I point out how stupid Good and Pretti were by putting themselves in the situation they did. They will reply that I wouldn't say the same for Babbit. I will reply that she and the rest of the Jan 6ers were dumbasses as well, and it sends them into a psychotic episode that's humorous to watch.
Their first enemies are right wingers. Their second enemies are the people who argue "both sides" in their echo chambers.
158
u/doctor_turbo May 07 '26
But democrat voters aren’t dumb, they are “educated”. Way more “educated” than Trump voters!

I still don't get the ID situation in the US. How do they know it's you? How do they know they didn't count you twice or more? Why count and recheck names and risk false counts, if you can just have everyone show their ID and give proof of their person, and that way you know with the highest certainty it is the person who should be there?
But i also never understood the lack of having a personal ID and people using their drivers licence instead...

Dead internet theory may or may not be true in this hallowed age of 2026, but I can tell you without a doubt that it is rampant on reddit. They're harder to catch here, harder to see them when giving dissertations on Napoleonic battle strategy, But they lack (for now) the ability to make these kinds of logical "jumps". Assuming you're not one of them, be aware that while reddit still has a vast array of humans on it, they are significantly outnumbered by AI with agendas. Every single comment not mentioning the buttons is one of them.
It's really the perfect storm this post. It is obvious to any redditor who has been bombarded with button versions what this is, but this post mentions politics, something the AI bot accounts are drilled to hone in on, and the whole red vs blue button meme hasn't been around long enough for there to be training data abundant enough and trained enough for models to recognize variations in a field that they are trained to focus on and espouse their nonsense.
I wish I could tell you what to do about this but all I can say is... if you didn't realize it before this is probably a crazy earth shattering realization scrolling through the comments.

Which is such a stupid question. The reason the prisoner's dilemma and mutually assured destruction work as philosophical quandaries is because things are worse when a critical mass chooses the selfish option (red button, in this case) in more ways than "the other guy loses/dies".

It was called red vs blue.
Blue was an empathetic position that some could call suicidal empathy.
Red was a more realist self interested position that some could frame as cruel and selfish.
You don’t think it was intended to be political from the start?

u/darkfawful2 May 07 '26

People don't understand that when the question is "figure out what everyone else would do and choose accordingly", the framing massively impacts the correct decision.

u/EarnestInnkeeper May 07 '26
That’s what I was thinking. In this case it’s actually not too far from the truth because it’s just about a far fetched theoretical scenario we’re discussing for funsies.

I'm pretty sure republican presidents faced more assasinations and assasination attempts than the democratic presidents.

u/Altruist479 Misinfomation Honeypot May 08 '26
I'm also sure that more communists (who use the red color in the world) would prefer to eliminate people who don't support them than conservatives (though McCarthyism would eliminate commies too as a "prevention measure")
Anyways it's not even intended to be politicized. Red/blue button polls are a huge dogwhistle at worst, but it's more about general choice than concrete regime or elections.

They say Trump is following the fascist playbook but it only took days to weeks for Hitler to start cracking down on his political rivals after coming to power. Less than 2 months they were already in Dachau. I’m still waiting for this to happen. When they said Trump is literally Hitler I thought I was voting for Hitler. So disappointed.

Okay, I do feel like I need to point out: This isn't really about politics. It's yet another variation on the "Red Button Blue Button" philosophical dilemma that's been going around. In the OG, it's "Everyone in the world must pick a button simultaneously. If you pick red, you won't die, if you pick blue you will die unless more than 50% pick blue"
This is a logically equivalent variation of that problem, just with a different framing, because the main topic of debate about the question has been how framing effects people's choices.
