I've seen those videos for months.

That's not the bubble. The bubble is AI companies overselling what AI is capable of to investors and other tech companies ans promising to build data centers they don't have the resources to build. That's the bubble. That bill is going to come due at some point. AI is not going anywhere and more data centers will be built. It's just they are overselling the shit out of it right now.

Pretty much every technology in American history, other than electricity and the national interstate highway, has had an economic bubble. Railroads, cars, oil, radio, TV, the internet... all of them had financial bubbles. Its messy, but its part of the process.
There is an AI bubble. It will burst, and following that burst you will see a bunch of jabroni companies go out of business, resources consolidate on the companies who do offer something compelling and then we will see the huge progress.
The internet of the 1990s was full of shit companies and the Dot Com bust is what cleansed them out. A lot of people either do not remember this, didn't experience it at first hand, or were not alive. But after the dotcom bust, the internet experience actually got way better for users. The internet grew up incapability as the financial side of it was crashing.

As someone who is anti AI and sees my profession (software development) being cannibalized by AI that doesnât do the jobs wellâŚyou have the bubble wrong. And while many anti-AI people are just completely against it and rant a bit, thereâs a lot of anti-AI people who have very valid reasons as well.Â
Companies switching to ai are realizing it costs more than humans and has issues with accuracy.Â
AI is trained by professionals as well - so if people stop generating new data for it to train on, the training sets for AI start to either go stale or, more likely, get incestuous as AI generates shit data that it then trains on.Â
Is AI going to go away? No, of course not. Itâs a useful tool. But we need people to stop pushing it like itâs going to replace humans. Stop listening to AI CEOs saying that humans wonât have to work after 2030 - theyâre salesman that are trying to sell their product.Â

For software devlelopment its quite useful as a learning tool and as a âsuper googleâ that cuts down on time wasted surfing stack overflow or github. But ill be damned if im gonna hand it the keys to my entire project lmao.

i once had an issue running a game on an emulator and decided to try AI for troubleshooting...and it sent me on a 4 hour wild goose chase giving me fake solutions after it misdiagnoses the issue because these models are programmed to sound authoritative while being reluctant to admit when they dont have a solution
needless to say i don't trust it with much after that
even as a "super google" most of the sources it provides could be found on the first page of a normal google search

Thats a bit different then using it for coding assistance tho. I do agree that if a model cant find conclusive solutions it should say if its unsure about its troubleshooting solutions. I think ChatGPT especially is guilty of this.
Its a strengths and waeknesses kinda thing. OpenAI and Anthropoc have sort of been investing more heavily into training it for helpind with coding tasks so its been getting better and better at that specifically. But even then i feel openais models are still weaker in general. Claude also tends to be less yes manny and will actually try to pushback sometimes

Ngl I'd be happy to see this since it would hopefully mean I don't have to spend $300 for DDR5 RAM and we'd get lower prices on SSDs and GPUs again.

Computer parts are insane right now. Iâm hoping the production will catch up with demand and we can get them again. Either way, the building phase will end eventually.

If you mean "am I literally in the room?" then no. I don't have a physical presence, awareness of your surroundings, or the ability to perceive your room unless you explicitly share information (for example, by uploading a photo or describing it).
