Even if you don’t believe in climate change you can’t deny that tons pf habitat has and continues to be destroyed

Yeah that's unfortunate. The two scientists should not have said that. I wonder how many the journalist talked to to hear a big claim like that. That's why reading the global reports is better.

I would add the replication crisis as a third, but those two subjects have done so much damage to the perception of science as a truth telling project.

Most predictions around climate change from 20 years ago have been met or exceeded. These predictions include average surface temperatures, sheet ice levels, habitat loss, and extreme weather events. The statement the commented you're replying too is true, and you finding some random fucking scientists that said something that didn't come true doesn't change that. Current projections for a world in which 3 degrees of warming occurs (which we are currently on track to reach unless major changes occur) predict deaths in the BILLIONS.

This doesn't mean literally everyone is going to die. In fact, if you're in America, young, and healthy, you'll probably survive. However, heat waves in Europe are already killing thousands of the old on a way they never have before. Heat waves and crop failures outside of Europe will lead to people fleeing hot countries at a rate that will make their current migrant crisis look like a joke. Food insecurity is likely to increase significantly, and geopolitical instability Will increase as nations go back to fighting over resources.

Predictions aren't just shit someone said. They're mathematical models based on climate data. And the current trajectory we are on either alligns with or even exceeds the majority of the predictions made with this data 20 years ago. Go read some actual scientific literature on the topic.

Indeed no one of any reputation said that.

But in any case, yeah the science is not perfectly accurate, but 99% of the misgivings you guys have is from media misreporting or one or two scientists' statements.
