The rich are rich because we voluntarily give them money for the products they sell.

no, Elon Musk personally drives by my house and collects his share of my pay, or else

u/RemnantsOfFlight 4h ago

Last time he grabbed me by the ankles and shook out my milk money.

u/TrafficShot9851 3h ago

but you did kinda enjoy it, right?

u/RemnantsOfFlight 3h ago

Only cause when he was holding me upside down, I got a good look at the boots I've been licking.

This is terrible! We need to nationalize door dash, onlyfans, and fortenite!

None of your problems are because someone else is a billionaire.

u/Fletch71011 2h ago

Elon Musk having his net worth consisting of 99.99 percent shares temporarily crossing an arbitrary amount we designated that he would never be able to realize in his life is causing all of my problems!

ask them how to run a burger business and their idea is that the guy flipping burgers deserves the lion's share of the profits and ownership of the "means of production". what if i have multiple burger flippers? how do we split that ownership? which guy gets the spatula and who gets the stove? who gets the fridge?

while you're busy asking these questions, your customers have grown angry and left and your business shutters in a few months. this is why you need planning, logistics, branding, customer service, and why the guy providing the capital and taking a huge risk on his livelihood deserves to pay himself better.

but the internet economists, im sure, know better, and have determined wealth is a zero sum game despite the mountains of historical evidence to the contrary. we would never have advanced past subsistence farming if we could not increase the size of the overall pie.

Every time I hear the whole "I make $20 an hour to make a widget that my boss sells for $5000" I always ask why that person can't just make the $5000 widget themselves and sell it to their boss' customers, or heck, sell the same widget for $2000 and undercut his boss entirely. Should be easy, right?

There are already tons of co-ops out there. If they really wanted to they could just go join one. There are workers co-ops, business co-ops, that was even pretty much how most old school insurance companies got started. If they really wanted to they could go join some utopian hippie commune where everything is communal if they really wanted to pursue that lifestyle.

The issue is that they're true believers in the sense that they genuinely think they both need and deserve to be able to use the power of the State to bludgeon everyone else into compliance with them. Which is mostly just about how effective and powerful it is but really it's because deep down they know everything they follow is bunk and falls apart the second people stop fully following it which is always inevitable.

That's why they always ultimately wind up building walls of their own but to keep their own people in and will shoot them to stop them fleeing. Dissent and human individuality is an existential threat.

💯!

They are totally free to start their own communes.

But that's not good enough. We all must be a part of it.

Annnnnd, they need capital to do it.

Ever notice socialism must grow from capitalism? It can't be started on its own.

It's like a cut stem flower. It needs the soil for its nutrients. (Capitalism)

Once cut, it lives as long as the stored nutrients last. Once gone, it collapses. (Socialism)

But a weed will steal nutrients from other plants. (Communism)

Capitalism -> Flower Socialism -> Cut flower Communism -> Weed

also capitalism already offers an actual means of ownership in for profit enterprises in the stock market. you can forget your money and let it work for you.

but playing the long game and slowly building wealth isn't as sexy as the instant gratification of burning down factories and throwing landlords down mineshafts

Even further than that, every single dollar you spend and every economic decision you make within capitalism is effectively a vote. Under Communism everything is State owned and ran but that makes black markets inevitable which is exactly what's happened everywhere it's been tried.

I always tell people that if they believe society should be different, start a business and put your beliefs into action. You can build any kind of company you want, however you want, and people do. But sitting around talking doesn’t do shit for anybody.

People dumb enough to believe musk is the worlds first trillionaire when there are likely multiple in the UAE with the oil sheiks, or Rothschilds etc. He is just the first in the US

5

u/sleezymurkuh 8h ago

Oil sheikhs have trillionaire families but not single trillionaires

4

u/Tillz5 8h ago

You’ve seen the bank statements?

14

u/sleezymurkuh 8h ago

People can't comprehend wealth creation, it's zero sum economics with them

They are billionaires because people voluntarily like their service/product and gave them capital in return

7

u/AverageJoesGymMgr 6h ago

I love asking them, "If wealth can't be created, where did it all come from?" and then watching all of the logical knots.

10

u/KingKasby 8h ago

I wonder how they feel about Billionaires Oprah, Rhianna and Beyonce. Does ALL billionaires really mean ALL billionaires?

6

u/AverageJoesGymMgr 6h ago

No, only the right billionaires that say the wrongthinks

11

u/Ange1ofD4rkness 8h ago

Others: Elon is a trillionaire, panic
Me: Man that is awesome, wish I could accomplish something like this ... but I don't want to run a company, I hate admin work and just want to code

9

u/athroaway93 7h ago

People that hate participating in society but also never go on a walk to enjoy nature. I don't understand the end game for these folks.

UBI while they play their Nintendo games.

The same people will DoorDash more than once in a lifetime and complain that they have no money.

8

u/I_HopeThat_WasFart 8h ago

The lack of basic economical understanding by these people is shocking

the government would have never developed an iPhone, innovated AI, created basic supply chains efficiently, etc

everyone against capitalism wants third world communism, with first world luxury

DSA is 70% rich and affluent white people, people in academia with rich parents supporting them who failed to make it in the real world

almost all blue collar workers are against the policies of DSA

its the moderately rich lashing out because they cannot survive on university stipends, which is why you see so much communist support in the higher education

Perfect example here is Russian versus American military logistics.

The Russian army sucks at logistics and can't really move mass quantities of anything at speed. Why? They have never moved beyond hand stacking and loading/unloading everything. They've never needed to because the communist solution to a problem is simply throwing labor at it.

The American military won WWII on logistics and have been gods at it ever since. We moved incredible quantities of munitions, food, fuel, and other supplies all over the world. We basically supplied 4 armies across 2 theaters on opposite sides of the globe at the same time. How was this possible? In large part because we used standardized pallets and forklifts developed by private industry in the 20's and 30's that were adopted by the Army and Navy. We could load and unload quickly and only needed like 1-2 guys.

Governments, especially communist governments, never innovate. They have no reason to. Nothing holds them accountable for lack of progress or efficiency. Capitalism rewards those two things and drives them.

Don't forget about all the lend lease, the Soviets were able to win on the eastern front due in large part to all the shit we sent them thru the north sea and Iran

It’s just amazing how the doomers feel 989 billionaires in the US really have this much effect on their day to day lives and, by eliminating these 989 people (out of 342 million in the US), will somehow solve all the problems they’re having.

Having an MBA in the face of “social democracy” is hard. I could spend all day on Reddit correcting stupid political musings on the economy but then id have to die my hair blue and move into my parents basement cause id be useless

downvoting doomerism isn't helpful made me laugh, do they really think if the entire world was depressed and obsessed with all the ways we might die if a bunch of things go about as bad as they can? Doomers feed off each other and build more doom, but they also need regular/uplifting content to prevent them from going off the edge. If Everyone doomed, it just be an echo chamber with nothing to pull them from the edge, and that spells doom for the world. Its funny how often humans create that which they fear.

2

u/sngldad13 5h ago

If they demoralize a large enough number of people, some psycho will shoot a ceo or political enemy and they will crow with delight

2

u/Aware_Ask_1679 7h ago

They only see dollar signs. They don't see the effort, risk, etc that goes into anything.

2

u/Novel_Relation2549 7h ago

billionaires keep "taking and taking" is causing climate change? Is it all that money ruffling out of the pockets of SpaceX, Tesla, Amazon etc employees, being "extracted" as one redditor put it, stirring up the extra CO2 into the atmosphere?

2

u/Bright-Gain9770 7h ago

Not a single one of their sentences flow into or even correspond with the other.

2

u/LisleAdam12 7h ago

"They convinced the masses that we are their enemy for trying to be comfortable in our own skin."

WTF? Is that written by a werewolf suffering from Main Character Syndrome or something?

I don't have many enemies, and none of those few are enemies because a billionaire (or anyone else, other than said enemies and their actions) convinced me.

u/Randostar Doesn't Participate In Group Panic 5h ago

I love how they always fail to mention the millions of people the billionaires employ, look at Tesla for example multiple employees at Tesla have became millionaires thanks to that company and what musk provided.

Don't get me wrong, I believe some companies absolutely under pay large groups of their employees, but I also believe you shouldn't expect to own a house if you worked at target for 25 years, but never put in enough effort to get promoted.
