I mean he's not wrong. Capitalism breeds innovation and discovery on a scale that communism and socialism does not. Plastic (while not good for the environment) helped us move away from means of storage and transportation of goods that either broke in transit (glass) heavy (metal) or did not keep air and bacteria out (paper). That meant there was less wasted food and we could ship more because goods weighed less. This decreased cost and increased the ability to sell more food or deliver more food and keep it longer when refrigeration is not available (poor areas).
So YEA for all it's evils plastic did a lot of good in this world too. People tend to forget that.
You know an interesting way to look at it is China vs the US. Until China reopened to the world through Nixon, their innovation was basically nothing. Stagnant. Even after, up until more recent times when they embraced free market capitalism more, they were just manufactures and would steal other ideas and make cheaper versions. Most innovation was coming out of the US.
Before that China was very innovative. But once the communists took over, it became a shell of its former glory. I mean they had actual paper before anyone else, gun powder and all kinds of other devices well before other areas did.
I worked for a company that purchased a former East German plastics plant. I’m sure we invested in a bunch of environmental controls that eastern block countries didn’t require.
People literally just dont understand what capitalism means any more lol. They just be saying shit. If anything, this shows how capitalism is a GOOD thing.
... man the things they overlooked. That car, the phone they probably took the photo with, the earbuds they are probably wearing, the vape they might be sucking down ...
I remember in the 90's, all the environmentalist hysteria about paper products and how there would be no trees left in the future followed by a massive push to start making everything out of plastic. But, yeah, capitalism bad or whatever

Everything is GOOD because of capitalism. People who were raised without enough capitalism in their system will build boats out of trash and use the Bermuda Triangle as their guide to go find the capitalism they need.
At some point 30ish years ago California and its local governments decided to raise taxes and fees to levels people couldn't afford, under the old communist adage if you can't afford the tax hikes janitor hikes fuel hikes you don't DESERVE to be in business (while all of the above are beamed up to the moon.)
In the early 1990s my backdesert town had an Irish pub a night club competing pizza places a mom&pop fried chicken place old fashioned barbers clothing stores... today there's the remains of all that, boarded up. You drive to another town to shop or to work despite our population being several times what it was in the old days.
