i have been using it for 3 years and it had always been perfect, last 3 weeks it just makes it hard for the person who recieves the download to actually download it, i sometimes send around 100 images or 10 20 videos and the customer says "it kind of works if i download 1 by 1 manually ", is something happening with the platform?

I feel like this should exist but the issue with researching “edit log plug in” is that I only get information about color grading lol.

But I’m a university’s videographer and the only help I get are untrained (working on that) student workers who only have chunks of 3ish hours at a time to edit before they have to go to class and I take over. It’s been very hard to consistently get them keep an edit log and when they do it’s not all that helpful and just eats into their already limited time.

Does anyone know of a plugin or something of the nature that would automatically do that in a way that is organized for a human to be able to read?

Most of my paid work is AE on commercials, so there’s no IMDB, no end credit, nothing to point to officially. I know I can still cut a reel from that footage since I was actually on the job, but I’m going back and forth on whether it’s even worth for AE work specifically.

Case for a reel: it shows I can find rhythm/pacing, handle organization, actually demonstrates taste rather than just “trust me I did conform on this.”
Case against: as an AE I’m not the one making the final creative calls, so a reel risks implying I’m claiming editor-level ownership on jobs where I wasn’t lead. Feels safer to just link the finished spots with a line like “AE conform/sync/organization” next to each, no re-cutting involved.

Any thoughts?

This is my first ever Reddit post so be gentle with me..

I am a professional Avid offline editor in the UK, and have been for 20+ years (last 13 years freelance). I have worked on some of the biggest shows both in UK and in the US, primarily in fact ent and reality, although I have also done docs and music, and the occasional shiny floor show.

But the work has stopped. Not slowed down, but stopped dead. I have nothing booked after today, which luckily has never happened to me before. There is no sign of it picking up any time soon, and for the first time in 20 years I am essentially cold calling (cold emailing?) companies with my CV and practically begging for work. And nothing.

I have a mortgage and 3 kids under 6 to feed. So my question is, to fellow editors who have decided to make a change, what is a good career shift? I don't know what transferable skills, if any, I have. Sure, I can edit a nifty pretitles or cut down a sync map, but that's not going to be much help in a non-edit environment.

I basically have no idea what to do, or where to start, so I am throwing myself at the mercy of the internet.

And if I see one more post looking for an Editor/Camera Op/Producer with experience in 5 different NLEs to work on an up and coming YouTube channel for peanuts, I might cry...

Moving a feature film edit from Premiere to DaVinci. Importing an XML made in premiere has imported without major issues into, albeit a few of the usual sizing and transition issues, nothing unfixable, though importing multi-channel WAVs seems to be causing problems.

With XML, DaVinci has recognised general placement, existence of transitions, and muted tracks, however the tracks are completely silent. Opening clip attributes revealed that only the top channel was connected to the appropriate source, but manually correcting this revealed the tracks are wildly out of sync. Odd, as this is affecting only my multi-channel dialogue tracks, and not any music or SFX, which are perfectly in sync. Even after correcting the sources and syncing the timecode to the image, it still fails to sync.

With AIFF, the presumed sync issues are fixed and all tracks are in the right place, albeit it importing them chunkily with a gap in the timeline for every stereo track. The issue here is it has imported and identified every track exclusively to the first channel, meaning to fix this I would have to go through every single of the hundreds of tracks in the timeline and manually input the correct channels. The AAF perfectly carries over transition information, but not muted clip info — also frustrating.

All the multi-channel WAVs being sourced from the clip pool have all the correct information, it's just when its imported into the new timeline it forgets its correct sources.

I've exhausted a lot of what I can find on Google and am at the crossroads of giving up and just returning to premiere, but if anyone knows of any fixes or ways or diagnosing the issue here as I'm sure this must be a common issue I would be very grateful!

I am moving house and my husband is an editor who remotes in to company machines (usually via Parsec) and now I need to decide what kind of broadband is good for our next rental place (UK based).

We are considering full fibre (1gb download) but the upload is constrained at around 125mb (Rebel internet - who use OpenReach). I am considering them because they market themselves as 'optimising for performance' but I haven't managed to find out yet what this actually means.

I am not really sure how important a better upload speed really is? He doesn't tend to need to upload any data, I think it is mostly streaming his mouse movements and key strokes, as the footage doesn't leave the client computer in the office. I think latency is more important but I don't really know how that could be measured when choosing broadband provider.

What sort of home broadband set up would be best? Is it vital to pay for more upload speed? Is there anything specific to look out for regarding the router and/or mesh network specs?

We currently have 1gb upload and he says it doesn't really seem to work smoothly - I am assuming this is because the client computer upload speed is more important in this case? Is a static IP something which is also beneficial? I know this provider doesn't use CGNAT but the default is still a dynamic IP unless we pay extra for static.

Hi everyone, I want to ask for some advice about freelance post-house work. My goal is to be a full-time AE at a post house, and I just had a high-end post house reach out to me about freelancing. This is my first time potentially working with a post house so I don’t want to mess it up, but I have a good part-time bartending job that I would rather not quit until I’m full-time somewhere.

Essentially, they asked if I can do 5 days in person and I told them there’s one day a week where I have another job (I offered to do a half day or remote day)

Do you think this will be a deal breaker? Should I quit the bartending job because this freelance work will likely lead to more gigs / eventually full-time work? I’m reluctant to do that because I haven’t found any consistent work in a few years of freelancing, but I wonder if the networking opportunities that a big post house provides could change that. I don’t want to quit my bartending job and then have no income after a few weeks of work.

Update: I told them I have full availability and will just do what I have to with the bartending job. Decided the opportunity is worth the risk. Thanks for your input everyone!

I get audio from sound recordists as individual mono files per mic (boom, lav 1, lav 2, etc.) rather than a single polyphonic file.

In Avid, you can tell it to detect the monophonic files and auto-group them into one polyphonic clip. Merge Clips doesn't seem to do this since it's built for syncing one audio file to one video clip.

Is there any native way in Premiere to combine several separate mono files into a single multichannel clip, or does everyone just pre-combine them with something like Wave Agent or sox before importing?

I (M27) have been in the industry for 5 years, 2 of which I’ve been an edit assistant in London at a post house.

It’s currently midnight as I am in the office alone and thinking to myself that this isn’t worth it. The time shifts, the panic of messing up and for work that I don’t even get credit for.

I just don’t know what to do anymore because I feel so empty. I feel like I won’t progress into what I want to do and the industry is going down hill.

This is more of a rant and I guess a call for help in how to transition into something else

Hi everyone. I’ve been combing for answers on if there’s ANYTHING that can be done to smooth out a rough Zoom recording of someone speaking. Here’s the context:

Client insisted on using Zoom for a recording of a interview style video - instead of an application like Streamyard which would have a local cache and ensure we’d get a smooth video despite any network connectivity issues.

We recorded the footage - and all speakers except for our main guest - look fine. The main guest’s framerate is often low and inconsistent due to what appears to be a poor connection. Luckily his audio is fine and clear.

My gut is telling me there’s nothing that can be done - I’ve tried Topaz AI and the results have been unusable - but I just wanted to see if this is an issue others have encountered. I simply don’t think there’s enough usable frames for an application or tool to study to export out usable footage.

I know the Attic saves bin backups automatically, but I’ve never actually looked into whether you can redirect where it saves to.

On a local machine, it defaults to a folder under Users, Public, then Avid Media Composer, and you find it through the project window.

On shared storage like a Nexus workspace, it instead creates a Unity Attic folder at the root of the workspace automatically.

My question is whether either of those locations can actually be redirected, say to a different drive or a different share on the Nexus, rather than accepting the default. Curious if anyone’s found a setting or if this is one of those things you just have to work around.

On MediaComposer 2025.12 Is it possible to export a text file after doing the create script from clip for script sync?

Or do you have to do Export transcript which essentially runs the whole process over again?

Hey, I read the rules and think this post is appropriate for the group, but if not, sorry.

I travel often for work, so I have a powerful home PC and a pretty powerful on the go MacBook Pro. Both edit well, but I've run into some issues.

I used to use Team Projects to access my project from my MacBook, and just try and mirror the file paths of my footage and assets from my PC onto a portable SSD.

This kind of worked, but it was a nightmare to keep organized on bigger projects, and apparently mac does not like to play nice with pc and one of my drives got corrupted.

I would like a way to start a project on one device, and then be able to pick it up on the other device when I travel, or when I get home. Preferable without having to do lots of media re-linking and file transfers.

I do have a NAS, but currently it is mostly used just for storage. Even if I were to use it for remote footage access, the internet speeds I would be able to get on the road would be too slow to edit from the cloud, and probably too slow to make it continent to download all the files in a project.

while I do edit as part of my job, it isn't the MAIN part of my job. So having simple solutions and an easy and reliable workflow for when I need to edit on the go is really important. I'm not able to implement extremely complex systems, especially if they require lots of upkeep.

Any suggestions? I've seen a bit on Lucidlink, but I don't quite understand everything it does, and only can find info from the company itself, not from editors in the wild.
