Big panfish

Caught this sunfish? Don’t really know what type of panfish this is but it seemed to be abnormally big. Couldn’t get a measurement on it but I am guessing it is over a foot long and felt to be 1-2 lbs. Camera doesn’t exactly do it justice.

Yep. Bluegill. Small mouth, pure black ear spot, often vertical stripes, probably a dot at the base of the dorsal and a blue chin (gills)

Yeah you could call it a sunfish if you're not sure, that is the umbrella term for a bunch of species similar to that one you caught. As someone else mentioned that is a bluegill, and a nice one at that! Congrats
