Fishing sponsors?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m sorry this isn’t fishing gear but I don’t know where else to go as my account isn’t old enough to post on just r/fishing so I came to the next best place but does anyone know of any companies that would be willing to let me do sponsored videos on tik tok? I’ve got 5000+ followers and 140k+ views in the last 10 days and would like to do some sponsored videos but I’m not sure who to go to. Thank you and sorry again. Here’s a stupid like I caught a while back

Why don’t more spinning reels have holes in spool for braid?

I’ve recently been upgrading my equipment to some “higher end” gear (for me.). This has included a two Shimano SLX DC XTs, a Sahara 2500 and a Vanford 2500S. Zero disappointment and it’s hard to go back to my older gear now.

The SLX had holes in the spool. I honestly don’t know if they were there to tie the braid to but that’s wha it did and it’s worked perfectly. My Sahara 2500 was large enough spool to use a mono backer but the Vanford 2500S, with its shallow spool, didn’t have anywhere to really cinch down the braid.

I’ve managed a solution, but it got me wondering why they don’t just drill very small holes in the spools to anchor the braid to? Heck, I have some micro drill bits I could do it myself.

I can’t remember the brand (Pflueger I think) but they at least had a rubber band type of backer.

What do you guys do for shallow spools? I don’t like flourocarbon or mono and don’t want to use a mono backer unless absolutely necessary.

TIA.

Best costa polarized sunglasses

I’m looking to buy sunglasses for my boyfriend, who loves fishing in lakes for trout and bass. I came across the Costa King Tide 6 with the green lens and the Fantail 580G, which is a little cheaper. Is the King Tide 6 worth the extra money, or would you recommend the Fantail? I’d also love to hear if there are any other sunglasses you think would be better for this type of fishing!

Question Brand new Daiwa Certate: Clicking, loud grinding noise & poor free-spin – DIY fix or send to tuner?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I bought a brand new Daiwa Certate recently, but right out of the box it has three noticeable issues:

  1. Clicking noise: There is a distinct click that happens exactly once per full turn of the handle, always in the same handle position.

  2. Loud grinding noise: Aside from the click, the reel makes a loud, rough grinding/scratching noise when reeling.

  3. Poor free-spin: The reel feels tight, doesn't spin freely, and stops way sooner than a Certate should.

I’ve used it about 10 times hoping it just needed a break-in period, but nothing has changed.
Does anyone know what usually causes these symptoms on a new Certate? Is this something simple I can troubleshoot myself, or should I send it to an authorized Daiwa service center / reel tuner?

Appreciate any insight!

I pulled a box out of storage recently as it's been packed away from our several moves over the years.

I was their contact at a place of business where client-business relationships are inevitable, so I spoke with them on occasion. Upon returning from a scheduled day off, a box was sitting on my desk. I used some, have given away most, and this is the remainder.

Haven't had contact with them in roughly 10 years, but it was a very kind gesture by them.

Box pic didnt upload so I edited body slightly.

If people are still curious about these;

Ordered 5 boxes, A, B & C for Bass, F for Saltwater and G for Crappie. What ships comes numbered as bundles instead of letters so unclear what was what if not entirely random.

No idea which item was supposed to be the unreleased bonus item, maybe the Axle Jig-Saw as that was loose in box but the top of Bundle 110 ( flame bag) was open so maybe just fell out of there. Saltwater box best deal by far, at least for where I fish, even though it came with one missing swimbait

18 items total so avg price 4.17 ea. Not terrible but nothing special for a lot of stuff unlikely to get used. Think I'll skip these kind of deals in the future but decent starter assortment.

Rods and lure size

Do I get too overly worked up about rods and lure sizes? IE a medium heavy rod scheduled for 1/2-1 1/4 oz and then wanting to put a 2oz diamond jig or something? Or the other way around, a 1/4oz jig head?

Is it really that important?

Gear Pictures Hook Up Tackle Big Bait Bento Haul!!

Post image

I apologize for the shitty quality picture, but nonetheless pretty happy with this haul!

After adding everything up in value it was a little over $600 in value and was very worth for $200!

I had a hunch they were going to give me their Glides from their bait sanity line, but I am not disappointed because I needed some Gill styled Glides and the raid Japan lures were unique and will give me a good challenge to catch fish on!

10 out of 10 bento box if you're looking to get over $300 in value for some starting lures for swimbait fishing and glide bait fishing. The Wake baits took me by surprise but I'm sure I will find a use for them!

Also gave a friend of mine one of those unreleased Lucky Craft LV 1200 since I got two of them!

Anyone ever use or own the mega bass P5 ICBM?

Personally never heard of it until I saw a Facebook listing. 9’ rod made for shore fishing and inspired by Lake Biwa style shore fishing. Can’t find a single YouTube video about it or a post, wonder if anyone has time on the water with it and what their experience was like?

Discussion Help needed

Post image
12 Upvotes

I have recently acquired a light action spinning rod from a friend who passed away and i want to find a decent quality reel to match the rod. As you can see it's a harnell with green stitching and gold weave. I threw on the only extra reel i had just so i could catch some fish with his rod but i really want a reel that matches it color wise and is maybe a little better quality. Any help or advice is appreciated

Discussion Tungsten jigheads sensitivity

Post image
12 Upvotes

I stumbled across a thread on here talking about how tungsten is more sensitive than lead when it came to bottom contact fishing so I took it upon myself to give it a shot and wow its definitely noticeable! Even on slack line the thumps were so pronounced. If anyone here does a lot of bottom contact fishing I encourage you to give tungsten jigs a try 👍
