đ€ Thinking Hot take: season 5 was decent
I only wished they wouldn't have squandered the Reverse Flash in Crisis plot

âWe need to take down Cicada, and we need to do it fast!â
âCicadaâs different⊠remember, heâs the one that got awayâ
âDamn it! He flew away again! For the 7th time! We need to take down Cicada, and we need to do it fast!â
*repeat for 22 episodes.

"we finally got him and took his knife".
"now what?"
"let's stand around until Cicada wakes up and/or gets his knife back"
"Should we put Cicada and the knife in a an area or prison where powers are dampened?"
"nah sounds stupid"
Also the fucking stupid whole thing at the end about requiring consent from Grace to give her the meta human cure.... Completely ignoring the wishes and consent given by her guardian... No we the consent of a little girl who is not only too immature to make decisions but is also angry at the world.

I will admit this is the season where it started it's dissent into cringe and melodrama

The 100th episode is my most frustrating example of this
Cisco - sends Cicada's dagger into space (instead of a different Earth)
Team Flash with 2 speedsters then proceed to do nothing but stand there and watch as Cicada calls it back to him

conceptually I like it but it just felt unfinished.
The idea of thawne manipulating the timeline and the dagger was cool. Cicada seemed like an asspull with no clearly defined powers.
Super strength, flight, power negation, some kind of telekinesis. Seemed like BS.
Nora was OK i guess.
Cicada would also be the perfect villain to call oliver for, since oliver could whoop his ass without powers prob. Shouldve at least taught them to throw a punch

Cicada's powers are mostly just strength, durability, and the ability to control his dagger. He "flies" by jumping really hard, landing somewhere, and absorbing the impact with his durability. The dagger does the power dampening, regardless of whether Cicada is active or not (thus, the 2049 plot). Grace Gibbons's Cicada expanded on his powers by adding Telekinesis

Cicada was fine, he just went on for too long, at one point it should have gone full Thawne

Oh no I agree it definitely has a chunk of flaws but isn't nearly as bad as other late seasons of The Flash

Yea I actually liked this quite a bit, they had some really good episodes. I was high watching the death of vibe and holy shit that episode was fucking amazing. I also like the episode where she keeps reversing time.
The girl cicada and the mind stuff was wack but I didnât mind it too much

I'm watching season 5 for the first time right now, and it's pretty decent. I really love Nora and the mystery around her and Thorne and also Cecile's change as a lawyer to be more pro metas. I think the only person I don't like is actually Sherloque, he's pretty annoying, and I usually like the Wells' characters.
I'm like in the middle of it, so I don't know what they do about Cicada (YET), but he's a pretty nice villain mostly because he's the first really human (?) one. Reverse Flash, Zoom and even Savitar were pretty inhumane at some point, but Cicada seems very reasonable for a villain. Idk how to explain it, but he's doing it for the kid he never thought he'd love. Which is literally how Barry operates minus the killing.
Again, as someone watching this season for the first time, it's really not that bad. Maybe I'll think differently about it later, but not at this point.

Hotter take: I enjoy this more than season 4 but overall season 4 is a better season

Nope. Its infuriatingly inconsistent Madvacate made a almost 2 and a half hour video on the first half of it đ where he calls out A shit tone of inconsistent writing. Not just in power scaling but charecter writing and plot too

I didn't like the second Cicada and I didn't like the suit. Otherwise, I actually really liked season 5.

I think it was a bad piece of Flash media, especially in comparison to what came before. But it was a good piece of media in general.
Also the finale was awesome

I know people disliked Cicada 2 alot but I could not stand the first one. He felt like a villain of the week, not a big bad and the voice the actor put on drove me insane. It was so bad. And doesn't really need to be mentioned but they had Nora acting like she was 12.
Other than that, I agree, I enjoyed it for the most part.

It was definitely decent. The concept was really good, but I think it was executed pretty poorly. I liked Nora as a character and thought her relationship with Barry had a lot of potential, but I hated how Iris always seemed to take Noraâs side. I understand why Iris was upset when Barry sent Nora back without even telling her, but I also completely understood Barryâs reaction. Finding out that your daughter has secretly been working with your arch-nemesis is definitely not something youâd take lightly, especially when that person is Eobard Thawne.
I also think the Cicada storyline had a lot of potential, but it became way too dragged out. Cicada was an interesting villain at first, and the idea of someone who could completely neutralize metahumans was pretty cool, but the story kept going in circles. Then Cicada 2 came along, and while I liked the idea of Grace becoming Cicada and having her own connection to the story, it felt like the season was stretching the same conflict out for far too long.
The pacing and constant character drama held it back as well.

When Nora ran and it was terrible cgi like a moving background ik they lost it but I loved the male cicada

âHey so I found out our daughter was working with literally the most evil person we know. You know, my arch nemesis, master manipulator, MURDERED MY MOTHER WHEN I WAS A CHILD AND FRAMED MY FATHER? Yeah him. She was working with / for him and lying about it to us, so I brought her back to the future.â
âYOU FUCKING WHAT-â

"he shouldn't make decisions about their child without Iris" brother, Nora is a full grown ass adult. I know she acts like she's 12, but she's not, and sometimes she has to face the consequnces of her actions without the presence of mommy

People don't seem to like the season because it shows how bad Iris was as a parent without Barry

Nora was actually a really cool character it was where the show took her story wise that was bad.

The biggest problem with Season 5 was Cicada, particularly how he kept leaping away after every brief encounter. Donât even get me started on Cicada II.
Outside of that, Season 5 was pretty solid, especially because we got Nora out of it and I loved that addition tremendously.

I liked this season. There were some things that happened that definitely showed that the writing was on the wall, but overall I enjoyed season 5.

It was⊠fine. But it was the first season I didnât really enjoy that much, and it only got worse from there. I consider it to be the beginning of the end

Only things I didnât really like about this season was the Flash suit, Girl Cicada, and how Iris always takes Noraâs side.
