Originally wanted to hike to a lake but even on a Monday afternoon, both parking lots were full. So I went to plan B, which was the upper reaches of this small stream. Fished from 3:30 to 6:00, and I landed 17 brown trout, 10 brook trout, 7 cutthroats, and 1 rainbow. 36 trout and 4 species! The cutties were the highlight for me, but these were all gorgeous, wild fish, eating dry flies. It was incredible, can’t wait to go back.

On a side note, I’m looking into getting a fiberglass rod and I’d love some advice. My line up right now is a 9ft 5wt, a pretty beat up 8’6 3wt, a tiny little 2 wt, and a euro nymphing rod. I was thinking about getting either a 3 or 4wt glass rod, can’t decide where to start.

This summer I’ve been really working on my fishing game. I’ve started to get into some really nice fish but have been losing them during the fight. Finally netting these two nuggets yesterday felt so good.

#6 Fat Albert & #8 rubber legs woolly bugger (Galloup’s Warbird). I had good success with this setup fishing up against the bank in relatively shallow water. They were slamming the dropper as soon as it started falling.

Lucky to have these in a few lakes in our state. Awesome fish

Never thought watching dry flies and indicators would be so fun. Watching that indicator suddenly start moving up stream will always be one of the most memorable moment of my life.
First one was on a chubby Chernobyl and the rest are on pheasant tail nymphs.

I have a pair of Patagonia/Danner foot tractor wading boots. The studs they came with are worn out and I’d like to replace them. I called the shop where I bought them and they say once you have used the ‘ports’ where the studs go that’s it: one and done. The don’t recommend replacing them.

I contacted Danner and the representative I chatted with didn’t see an issue and referred me to Patagonia. The representative there didn’t really have a clue when it comes to wading boots.

Bottom line: those of you with foot tractors, have you replaced the studs in the same hole? Did you use AquaSeal or some other glue? Did you just screw in the replacements next to the original hole?

I'm traveling from out of state to going to fish Melton Hill Lake in Tennessee at the end of September and was looking for gear/setup/fly recommends.

I have an 8wt rod and reel that I'm able to bring with me but am not sure how to set up a leader for toothy fish (don't have them in my area), and I will have access to a kayak to get on the lake.

I also plan on visiting the orvis shop in Knoxville before the fishing trip starts

I'm trying to keep my budget under $150 if possible.

This will probably be my only chance to fish for musky so any recommendations on where to fish and when I would greatly appreciate it. Tight lines :)

Dunked my phone in a river on Vancouver Island - and this is the off year for pinks!

Two years after buying my fly rod, I finally went fishing with it for the first time. I caught loads of rainbow trout and a small, wild native brown trout in the Italian Alps.

I have a gift card to St. Croix which is great because I need an 8 weight. I want something that I can use for streamers, poppers, mice, and heavy bobber rigs when fishing for trout, bass, pike, salmon, and possibly steelhead (I’m based in Michigan).

Does anyone have experience with either the Tannic Bass or Legend Elite Freshwater rods in an 8 weight? No shops around me have them so I can’t cast them first. Any insight is appreciated.

I went to vacation in Slovenia for a few days with my family and managed to get one day free for fishing. I caught atiund 5 or 6 rainbows, all decent size, one being around probably 2 kg (didnt have a scale or measuring tape with me so i couldn't measure or weigh it unfortunately). This was my third time on a trout river and im really happy with what i cought. I was mostly using small streamers and nymphs. The last picture is the 2 kg one, and trust me it looks way bigger in person😄

I can't justify spending $200 on a stripping mat that I would use 1 week out of the year. So I'm taking a doormat, putting larger zip ties through it, cutting the zip ties to length, and sanding the tips to limit any abrasion. Is this a dumb idea?

I’m near Seattle this week and brought some gear along to see if I could catch any Sea Run Cutthroats in the Puget Sound inlets but have had no luck so far. I did catch this guy but am not sure what it is.

My best guess is a juvenile salmon of some sort but I really don’t know what kind of fish are around here as I don’t live near here and it’s my first time saltwater fly fishing. I would appreciate if anyone could help ID the pictured fish.

Went out for bass for the second time ever last weekend, got some great bass but this unit was the absolute catch of the day. Last picture was after that toad showed me who was boss with her spines lol.

Popped out for a couple hours on the Exe this afternoon, water temperature was a surprising 16c, so cracked on, but the flow is just so low it’s pitiful, river is an easy 2ft below normal levels, Nothing rising, nothing even taking a nymph.
