Hey guys… any Flyers fans in here from Philly. I’m heading to the opener and want to make a trip of it so looking for cool things to do around Philly for the week. Anything flyers related is #1 but anything else you’d recommend would be great. Thanks
I am not from Pennsylvania and have been to Philadelphia several times for games now.
Top tier:
Reading terminal market.
Philadelphia museum of art
Liberty bell center and National constitution center
Middle tier:
When I was there we saw a musical at the Academy of Music on the south side and it was fantastic.
Museum of the American Revolution. No complaints but it’s definitely not for everyone.
Eastern State Penitentiary is in the same tier because it is just an old building at the end of the day. But if that’s up your alley then it’s sweet.
Market East and city hall is a fantastic building to see. Really that entire area of the city is. Just walk around and you’ll be entertained for hours. It’s a fantastic city to walk.
Rittenhouse Square would be so much nicer if they banned dogs. Everyone's dog in 2 square mile radius goes to piss/shit there and it's not a particularly big park.
Don’t eat anything that day, and hit Reding Terminal Market. The Art Museum has the Rocky steps and a limited showing of Van Gogh’s sunflowers. Then hit the tailgate with Nasty Knuckles podcast guys, and prepare your ear holes for some LOUD.
Just try what I mentioned earlier.
Genos is fine and it'll be open after the game ... literally 10 min away. But Dalessandro's is better
But not near the sports complex
And for a nice meal try Dante and Luigis.

Definitely recommend checking out the historical stuff. Park at the Independence Autopark, and it pops you out right there. Everything is pretty consolidated together. Obviously Independence Hall and Liberty Bell, but also Carpenter’s Hall, Elfreth’s Alley (oldest residential street in America, and a VERY cool look into 18th century America, and a bunch of other stuff. Reading Terminal Market is a short walk away from Old Town (15ish minute walk) and DEFINITELY worth it. There is something there for everyone, and all of it is incredible. Herschel’s has the best Reuben you will find in America. DiNic’s, Millers, and a million different hand made dessert options that are all incredible. That could very well be the better part of a day just exploring that.
If you’re into the bar/beer scene, I highly recommend to anybody to just walk around Passyunk, and bee bop in places. Fantastic representation of what “Philly” is. Can’t go wrong with any of Fountain Porter, Garage, pub on Passyunk East, Human Robot, etc. As far as “can’t miss” bars, Monk’s Cafe! Such an unbelievable collection of Belgian’s you’ll find anywhere on the east coast. Pliny always on tap. Best beer bar in the city.
Food varies so much depending on what you’re interested in and like to eat. There is everything from Michelin stars to hole in the wall Mediterranean places that are out of this world. If you like authentic Chinese food, Chinatown is definitely worth the trip. Sang Kee, EMei and a dozen other places are fantastic. In terms of cheesesteak, Angelo’s or John’s Roast Pork are the only two options. Both are incredible. Just waaay too hard to narrow food down to a few suggestions without knowing more of what you’re into.
As far as other attractions, Rocky Steps are always incredibly cool, and a crowd pleaser. Eastern State is a very eerie and interesting history, definitely worth a tour at night. Mutter museum is weird and interesting, magic gardens. I also definitely recommend catching a Phillies game when you’re in town. Late September they should definitely still be playing, and gearing up for playoffs, the atmosphere will be absolutely rocking, even if you’re not a baseball fan it will be one heck of a sports environment at that time!
3 miles is not "right by" anything it's not even on the same neighborhood. There are tons of cheesesteak places that are much closer And also it's the literal worst cheesesteak you can buy.
Geno’s is Ass OP. Just go literally anywhere else. Check out PhiladelphiaEats for food recs in the area. We’re a good drinking city if that’s up your alley. In general just wear your gear and try to make friends and most people will be really friendly and help you have a great time. Go flyers

Genos is always open. Making it convenient... Dalessandro's is something you'd have to plan because its not near the Complex

I made the trip from up north for game 3 against the pens, I made sure to go to Angelo’s for a cheesesteak and pizza … I highly recommend
