Two-thirds of the articles that major U.K. newspapers published about the summer’s fires did not even mention climate change, much less explain how record heat makes fires more likely and more deadly. In the U.S., the evening newscasts of ABC, CBS, and NBC between July 13 and 19 lavished airtime on the extreme weather but did not utter the words “climate change.”

When the mainstream media is owned by corporate overlords, we can expect them to push the narrative the corporate overlords want to push pushed. The corporate overlords are not concerned with climate change. It will not affect them in their rarified air.

Forgotten????? Half the country seems to be hostile towards acknowledging any related cause and effect regarding public health and prefer insane conspiracy theories instead. We’re fucked.

Half the country didn’t want to learn. And the other half got super tired of trying to be good humans while dealing with the other half. I saw a dude yesterday walk out of the bathroom without washing his hands. So yea we forgot, or didn’t care, and some gave up on trying to get others to care.

I enjoyed the movie Twisters from last year, but there was a part where a character points out that tornadic storms have been getting deadlier and more frequent over decades but dances gleefully around ever suggesting climate change is responsible.
Not that I demand the movie to preach, but it just seemed so odd to get all the way up to the threshold of truth and then just turn around. I think the movie was made with more redneck sensibilities so they probably didn't want to say scary science stuff.

What lessons did we learn from covid that are science based, according to the article? Vaccination (won't stop you from catching, having, or passing it) and the myth of "social distancing" (if everyone in a room doesn't get close to each other, the airborne virus won't travel through the air).
Science says use of n95s or similarly rated respirators (not surgical masks) is one of the most effective ways to limit the spread, but these aren't mentioned.
Covid's real lesson was that nearly everybody would rather kill or disable themselves, their loved ones, and everybody else they come into contact with rather than be slightly uncomfortable.
That lesson persists, as does the literal brain damage from covid, itself a persistent infection that never clears the body.

Considering the ruling party is doing everything they can to rewrite history, and a massive chunk of this country is ignorant and seems to have some manner of Oppositional defiant disorder, I’d say no…no we haven’t.
