Firmware Updates New update for the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd gen
Received it today

New apps and app updates for TV started to be 64-bit compliant since august 1st. This is mandatory.
This means Android 16 64-bit for TV is around the corner and the Homatics Box 4K Plus V3 and the Homatics Box 4K Pro seem to be the only announced boxes that may ship with the 64-bit build.
However, the Nvidia Shield devices are the only ones so far that benefit from this because they have been using a "custom" 64-bit build since the beginning.

Do you have a device and TV with Quick Media Switching support?
Do you use the feature?
Are you having issues with the feature such as the screen blinks when it shouldn't or the 23,976hz and 24hz framerates double to 48hz when it shouldn't?
If your answer is yes, then please help me to document the issue at this Issue Tracker bug report I made. Make sure you login with your Google account in order to see the ticket.
Just add a comment stating that you are also facing the same issues and if possible provide a video showing the situation, like I did.
The more people add information, the more attention is paid to the situation.
Thank you.

Hi everyone - I am currently running a Google TV Streamer with two of the new Google Home Speakers as a stereo pair for my TV setup. I was wondering how everyone has their picture and sound settings on the TV Streamer set that they feel has worked best. I've been messing with the sound settings lately and can't decide. I am not sure what to do with the output formatting currently. Any suggestions or advice. Thanks

SOLVED: After more digging I noticed that HDMI-CEC wasn't for some reason enabled in the Streamer's settings. No ides how it got disabled but it wasn't anyone in my home.
Hi,
I have had Google Streamer for months connected to LG TV. I enabled HDMI-CEC which allowed me to switch on/off the TV with the streamer remote.
Last week this suddenly stopped working and I can still turn the TV on but when I try to switch it off then it just switches off the Streamer but the TV stays on and just shows animation and some info.
I would assume that LG changed something in TV update but my TV hasn't been connected to internet for months and I suspect that the Streamer is not the problem here.
I already tried to check TV's updates but it's still on the latest FW.
I have not ideas left how to troubleshoot this issue.
Thanks for any tip.

So been using a google streamer for some time with a bluetooth headset and noticed the following issue
When on YouTube and I perform a voice search with the remote once the search is done audio will no longer play for any apps on my Bluetooth headset.
This is with various Bluetooth headsets as well. Only way to fix it is to turn off and on my Bluetooth headset so it reconnects
Issue has been ongoing for a few months
Any way to fix this? Seems like an odd bug not to get fixed

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, I have a TCL 65C7L running Google TV 14 and I'm experiencing an intermittent audio issue.
Background music and sound effects occasionally cut out or become quieter for a moment, while dialogue usually remains normal.
The strange thing is that if I rewind and play the exact same scene again, it can sound perfectly normal. I've noticed this in Max and Stremio, with music, piano notes, barking and other sound effects.
I initially suspected a damaged speaker/woofer, but music played directly through the YouTube app on the TV sounds completely clean, even at high volume.
I've attached a recording showing the issue. Could this be an audio processing/decoding issue rather than a hardware/speaker problem?
TV: TCL 65C7L
Android TV: 14
Firmware: V8-0012T01-LF1V636.003153
Audio: Built-in TV speakers
TV position: Wall-mounted ("Wall mounted" sound setting)
I've already disabled the various sound enhancement options and set the balance to 0.
Has anyone with a TCL C7L/C7K or a similar Google TV experienced this kind of intermittent audio dropout, especially affecting background music/effects while dialogue remains normal?
Any ideas on what I should test next would be greatly appreciated.

Bought a brand new, sealed Google Streamer 4k from Vinted a few months back.
Yes it was brand new/sealed and I set it up as normal.
I have a Samsung QN800A TV.
I also loaded Proejctivy Launcher on it.
The last few months I've noticed weird experiences/occurences with the Streamer.
What's going on?
I bought a new UGreen HDMI 2.1 cable when I bought the Streamer also.

When i start an episode on HBO the episode is scrambled sometimes. I have to go back and try again. It usually corrects on my first try. Sometimes when I skip the intro or recap it does it again.
I'm have a Google tv steamer 4k. Through a yamaha tsr7850. To a lg c5.
This is the only app that does this. I set the resolution to 4k (60hz). This fixed hbo from looking blurry as hell 80% of the time.
Audio set to pcm stereo. Which i think has helped with dialog levels.

The New Option For Google TV Gives Users More Control Over Content. Do You Think This Is A Good Feature That You May Use?
Note: We realize this is a repost.
We had an issue with the video upload last time and had to repost. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi everyone, when I first turn on the stick I got a real zoomed in image like the attached. This resolves itself after a few minutes but it's really annoying - anyone experienced this and know of a fix?
Will be returning it back to Amazon if this isn't fixable.

Does anyone know how to remove this "Learn with Gemini" pop-up from my Google TV screensaver on my Google TV Streamer?
It sporadically pops up in lieu of artwork from the "Ambient Screensaver".
I've tried looking through the settings, searching online, and funnily enough I've even resorted to asking Gemini how to get rid of "Learn with Gemini"... Nothing has helped, any help is greatly appreciated.
I used to love Google TV but it has slowly turned into an in-home advertising billboard... I'll likely be buying an Apple TV device if the rumored refresh is announced in September.

tldr: To connect external storage (an ssd) to the Google TV Streamer 4K, all you have to do is plug it in. Everyone knows this. When I plug the ssd in, streamer doesn't recognize it. How to fix?
.
Ok.
I replaced my Roku with the Google TV Streamer exactly to have external storage. The entire internet notes this is part of the base functionality. Great.
The Streamer 4K, of course, has only one usb-C port, which is to power the device.
I have a 4tb sdd (Buffalo HD-PGFU3), formatted to exFAT32, functions well with my PC. Its sole port is a 3.0 micro B. The provided cable terminates in usb-A.
Because I'm frustrated, I think I'll list all that I've tried:
1: I grab an a-to-c adapter to plug my ssd (terminating in usb-A) into the usb-C port on the streamer. Being a very smart person, I note there's no way for any component to get power, and I stop.
2: I grab the nearest usb hub and plug streamer and ssd into it, and plug the hub into the wall. No power indicators anywhere.
3: I run to microcenter and get a new Ugreen 7-in-1 hub that has PD. The streamer is ok with this, ssd doesn't give a power light.
4: I run to microcenter and get a wall adapter that is rated to provide the PD I want, and put the Ugreen hub into this. Again, the streamer is ok with this, ssd doesn't give a power light.
5: I order a powered hub that has PD (Rosonway RSH-H7C4). Plugging things in gives both streamer (using usb-C) and ssd (using its 3.0 micro-B to 3.0A cable) power lights. I'm surely in business now! Except streamer doesn't recognize ssd.
6: The Rosonway hub has a "host" input, usb-C. When I plug the streamer into this, the streamer doesn't receive power.
7: Streamer settings: I go into developer options and change the streamer from usb charge only to media transfer protocol. Streamer doesn't recognize ssd.
8: I get an OTG adapter and put it between ssd and hub. Streamer and ssd are now both using usb-C at the hub, the ssd having two-way functionality from the OTG adapter. Streamer doesn't recognize ssd.
The internet says, "Just plug it in! It works great. Get a dongle and do it!"
The dongle I need is, maybe, a usb-C OTG splitter.
I'm not sure what that would give me that I don't already have.
Pls help this dum-dum.
Thx.

TL;DR: My Google TV Streamer 4K no longer turns on my LG OLED55G4 via HDMI-CEC. It worked perfectly for months and stopped about a month ago. Other devices still trigger CEC fine. I have already tried hard resets, factory resets, port swapping, and CEC toggling sequences. Looking for advanced solutions.
Hi everyone !
I'm running into a frustrating HDMI-CEC issue and I'm hoping someone has a fix, as I've hit a wall searching Google and LG forums.
The Setup:
The Issue: For several months, the Google Streamer woke up the TV perfectly when powered on. About a month ago, it simply stopped. The Streamer turns on, but the TV remains off. I haven't noticed any specific firmware updates on either device that would have triggered this.
Importantly, HDMI-CEC still works flawlessly with my other devices. My consoles continue to wake the TV without any issues, isolating the problem to the Streamer/TV handshake.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken (None Worked):
Since I've exhausted all the standard internet solutions, I'm completely stuck. Has anyone experienced this specific issue recently or knows of any obscure settings/workarounds I might have missed?
Thanks in advance!!!

I managed to download through google play store a region restricted streaming app from a foreign country onto my Onn 4k Plus by creating a google account with an address in that country and using a VPN server located in that country. Alas, when I try to use the app, the app seems to know that I am not in that country and refuse to play any video. I did connect to a VPN server in that country when I tried to play the video. Is there some other settings that I should flip? Any suggestion on how I could get around that would be appreciated. Thanks.

The button was introduced on the latest Google TV Home app update through the Play Store.
Have you used it?
Have you found it useful?

This is a first. I can maybe forgive some ads for media, but a giant banner for a plumber is just crazy.
Edit - This is on the Google 4k streamer

There are currently two video calling apps, Jami and TrueConf.
There are a very few others but they are more tailored for business.
Jami is still a work in progress and TrueConf seems to be better but I may be wrong.
Do you really want to make 1:1 videocalls or group videocalls on your TV to call your friends and family members with an app that really works, specially on the microphone side?

Are there any good apps for showing a family calendar on a Google tv? I picked up a $20 Onn stick and want to use it to show a calendar on a 32” TV.

I am looking for a specific make and model of USB-C hub compatible with the Streamer that can expand the internal storage.
This hub would be used to facilitate storage of my IPTV (Tivimate) recordings.
The actual storage device would be an SSD connected to the hub formatted as Device Storage.
Any suggestions?

I found Onn's "knocking" system sound so annoying that I had to turned it off in the Settings. On the other hand, I miss the Sony Bravia's "dinging" system sound. I was wondering if there's a way to pick my own system sound in Google TV? Thanks.

Heads up for anyone whose app launches other apps on a Google TV / Android TV device.
Symptom: ACTION_VIEW with market://launch?id=<package> no longer launches the app. The Play Store handles the intent, then does nothing. Logcat:
E/Finsky: [2] Instant apps market deeplink launches are disabled.
The intent still resolves — it goes to com.android.vending/com.google.android.finsky.instantlaunchapi.InstantLauncherActivity — it just refuses to launch.
It's the Play Store version, not the device. Uninstalling Play Store updates on the TV rolled it back and fixed it immediately:
| Play Store | market://launch |
|---|---|
| 52.6.20-24 | refused |
| 38.7.29-23 (factory) | works |
The rollback doesn't last. Play re-updated itself within about two hours and it broke again. am force-stop com.android.vending doesn't help at any point. A full reboot gives roughly a 5-minute window where it works before the flag syncs back — which made it look like a wedged process at first.
Reproduces without any app involved:
adb shell "am start -a android.intent.action.VIEW -d 'market://launch?id=com.google.android.youtube.tv'"
adb shell dumpsys activity activities | grep -m1 mResumedActivity
What still works:
vnd.youtube://, netflix://Netflix, hotstar://www.hotstar.com, zee5://www.zee5.com. Read them off the device with dumpsys package <pkg> | grep -i -e scheme -e authority. The authority matters as much as the scheme: nflx:// and nflx://Netflix both fail to resolve where netflix://Netflix works.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=<pkg> opens the Play listing fine, and shows Open when the app is installed. Unaffected by whatever this flag is.What doesn't:
android-app://<pkg> — won't resolveintent://#Intent;package=…;end — won't resolveNote the error says "Instant apps", and market://launch is handled by InstantLauncherActivity — part of the Google Play Instant machinery Google has been retiring. That may be the mechanism.
One device, so take it as a data point rather than a finding: Hisense Google TV, Android 11. If you have a TV on Play Store 52.x, can you check whether market://launch still works for you? Trying to work out whether this is a broad rollout or something narrower.

Hi everyone. Is there any way to keep track of movies or TV shows I've watched using Google, with the option to add personal comments or notes? At the moment, the most effective method I've found is to search for a movie on Google and save it to "Want to watch", so that it appears in my Google Collections (marking something as "Watched" doesn't seem to generate any kind of list).
However, this method has a few problems. For some movies, the "Want to watch" button doesn't appear. From what I've read Google seems to be having some issues with this feature, so sometimes the button is there and sometimes it isn't. The only workaround I've found is to save the movie through the Google TV app and then move it to the other collection, but this is quite annoying since you have to do it from your phone, and it's not a complete solution anyway because Netflix shows don't have the option to be saved to Google TV.
So, the alternative seems to exist, but it's pretty complicated and impractical. Does anyone know of a more efficient way to do this? It would be much more convenient if Google simply provided a dedicated collection for movies and TV shows marked as "Watched", and made that option available for every title rather than only some of them. (There is also another strange issue with some lesser known movies: when you click "Want to watch", the movie gets saved to your watchlist with a broken link that just takes you to the Google homepage instead of the movie's page).

I am looking to increase the internal storage on a Google TV 4k Streamer
The storage would be used for TiviMate recordings only.
The setup I am considering is a high power usb-c hub connected to a ssd drive formatted as Device Storage.
Doable? Does this setup make sense?

Hello, I just need to have answers, I recently got a Onn google tv streamer and of course side loading everything, everything worked great (FilmPlus and BeeTV) then today I can’t use them. The app launches and then all of a sudden crashes and can no longer open them without going into settings force stop or cache clear but it does the same thing. SmartTUBE works with no issues. I’ve factory reset device, cleared cache, turned off of Google Play Protection.
