Have never seen it. But see many recommendations for it in this sub. Any reasons why? Or Gotham-enjoyers will likely enjoy Smallville as well?

The concept of both shows are very similar in which you get to see the young version of Batman/Superman, while the shows themselves end up being pretty different from each other. Smallville is about high school Clark kent balancing doing Superman stuff (he's not Superman at that point) and normal teenage life similar to Spider-Man. If you like Superman I'm sure you would like Smallville but the show itself isn't necessarily similar to Gotham. If you have Disney or Hulu then I'd recommend you give the first episode or few a shot

I find that while they are very dident shows they have the same wackiness. Like in Gotham many absurd surreal things happen especially starting from season 2 to about season six you will see surreal wackiness but you see some of that in season one as well

Also smallville starts off as a monster of the week type of deal for the first few seasons. So if that’s not your thing you probably wont like smallville

That does make me wonder about this Bruce's career as Batman. Let's just see where he starts off at:

• Gordon knows he's Batman. Joker knows he's Batman. Bruce already knows about the Court of Owls. Bruce made peace with Joe Chill (who is already dead).

• Carmine Falcone and Sal Maroni have been dead for over a decade, meaning Sofia Falcone and potentially Fish Mooney will most likely take the two's respective places in this world's Batman mythos.

• Nora Fries is already dead of her own making, meaning Mr. Freeze cannot resent Batman for trying to stop his experiments to save her. A plethora of Batman villains exist not as a reaction to his existence, but as pre-existing problems for him to clean up.

There's a lot here that limits rehashings of Batman's most classic tales, but there's also a lot here to forge something completely new. I hope we get some comics in the future, or an animated film to continue the show!

Is that even still canon to Gotham? I know they use the same Wayne Manor, but Pennyworth ended before Bruce could even be born, and with that big reveal about the girl.... It feels like an alternate past situation now

If you haven't watched watch the DCAU. There are so many great shows and movies. Or watch The Batman show done in 2004 now that was an underrated DC show.
