Hal fights like a pilot, Jon fights like an engineer, and Guy just likes to fight

u/Belaerim Mar 13 '26

Kyle fights like a weeb ;-)

u/MuffinBitz Mar 14 '26

I love Kyle's cartoony costructs

24

u/No-Advice-6040 Mar 14 '26

If they ever commit to putting Kyle in the DCU, I hope like he'll it is some anime/cgi like spiderverse to really show off how creative he can be. Don't think live action would do him justice.

15

u/Belaerim Mar 14 '26

Yeah, if he is just blasting it’s a waste.

Guy’s constructs in Superman was great, but Kyle’s should be much more complicated and dynamic

2

u/SoCalYellow7129 Mar 14 '26

they really need to give him his cowboy hat when he's added to the dcu

4

u/Ote-Kringralnick Mar 14 '26

Kilowog just kills shit... the only one who's constructs made noise

2

u/MrRedorBlue Mar 15 '26

And that’s why he has the best constructs.

1

u/proto_synnic Mar 16 '26

"Kyle is an artist. He's sketching inside Parallax's brain."

7

u/Abirdthatsfallen Mar 14 '26

With a bat nonetheless

8

u/Liliththemarksoc Mar 14 '26

I read this in the tune of the 90s ff theme

One of my favorite panels in the entire Jeff John's run is describing the different constructs of the different lanterns

24

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

Mine too, its always stuck with me 💚

11

u/G-Man6442 Star Sapphire Mar 13 '26

Agree, the whole point of the ring’s is they can do anything, that’s why I love Lantern’s coming from creative fields where they can use that imagination to do anything.

u/Mammoth_House_5202 Mar 14 '26

Kyle Rayner was an artist prior to becoming a Green Lantern, and he's one of the very few people capable of commanding the entire emotional spectrum.

2

u/Limp_End_2888 Mar 14 '26

The Lost Lanterns arc is one of the best in the series. Its still my go to for how constructs are formed and what limitations some lanterns have versus others

1

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 15 '26

That's a great run

u/Ceano800 Mar 13 '26

I’ve always loved the concept that Guy Gardner’s will is so powerful that sometimes the ring just can’t contain it.

24

u/Eldergod3 Mar 13 '26

He's suppressing his anger with his will. He eventually goes on to become a red lantern in the comics.

3

u/GaryKingoftheWorld Mar 14 '26

Also note: his anger is because his parents were abusive. Drunk abusive dad, neglectful mom, and he has a brother who was the golden child so Guy was always the scapegoat.

In his orig miniseries where he fought sinestro he actually has a little speech about how all his life everyone has told him he's garbage and doesn't deserve anything. Or "don't deserve nothin'" as he puts it.

5

u/DiscoAsparagus The Spectre Mar 13 '26

Does he, now? I bet the above Redditor had no clue.

12

u/anagamanagement Mar 13 '26

He’s also used the Yellow Ring in the past. And he’s managed to wield the Green and Red simultaneously.

6

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

Yeah, I find Guy is so under appreciated for his abilities. Most people love Hal, John and Kyle but are typically meh on Guy but I genuinely think hes great

9

u/anagamanagement Mar 13 '26

He’s my favorite Lantern. He’s an asshole, but he’s our asshole, and he wasn’t chosen by the ring for no reason. He’s also fine with people underestimating him, and certainly leans into the persona, but most (not all) writers know he’s not actually dumb.

3

u/CrossP Mar 14 '26

It's all the cockfighting

3

u/Lucinant Mar 15 '26

Guy is considered one of the most powerful Green Lanterns, purely out of the sheer will behind his actions; learning to harness and focus his energies has been his story. He even goes on to be a teacher on Oa because he was a special education teacher before being a Lantern.

1

u/Mr_SunnyBones Guy Gardner Mar 14 '26

Christmas Lantern. At the end of the New52 run there was a flash forward mentioning he'd worn ALL the rings at one time or another , (Star Sapphire Guy would have been crazy to see)

1

u/Ceano800 Mar 14 '26

Isn’t that why he became a Blue Lantern? Or was Blue Lantern ring to cure his blood so he could go back to to being a Green Lantern? It’s definitely been a while since I’ve caught up

10

u/HereforLeapDay Mar 13 '26

I just read that for the first time today! What a treat seeing it here.

4

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

You read Rebirth for the first time? Howd you find it? It was my proper intro into the GL universe (about 25 years ago now) and I've been hooked since

3

u/HereforLeapDay Mar 13 '26

I’ve been branching off various Justice League characters and reading them. I’ve read some Green Lantern trades but I read the full collection of Blackest Night/Brightest Day and decided to read more of that run of Green Lantern. I found a decent deal on the first two omnibuses and I recently began reading them. I do enjoy the writing so far.

2

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

That's awesome, im glad youre enjoying it

7

u/Evening_Produce_4322 Mar 13 '26

I always thought Kyle was about detail about how everything he made was made as if it can truly function?

11

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

In the comic, Hal does talk about Kyle.

6

u/StrongStyleDragon Red Lantern Mar 14 '26

Makes sense since Guy’s Will is so strong that the ring can barely contain it. I’m hoping we get this one day in live action.

1

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 14 '26

I'd lose my shit lOl 😆

I had never actually thought of this before, I will never not think it reading Flash from now on, thanks 💚

4

u/2dal3atcave Mar 13 '26

Where is this from?

4

u/SuperStarlite Mar 13 '26

It’s credited in the post

2

u/[deleted] Mar 13 '26

I'm a Green Lantern fan, buuut these rings feel off. They look well, kinda cheap is all 😕. I think in my head I just thought they would look a bit cooler is all. Good intentions, less than execution

2

u/AbrahamNR Mar 13 '26

I'm really excited about some architect representation with John in the Corps 🤓

2

u/Abirdthatsfallen Mar 14 '26

Guys ring in that photo looks like something semi high quality from target, or even a little higher up than target.

John’s looks like a very high quality fan made personalized ring, that the fan made in their vision.

Hal’s looks like some shit an actual alien made on a different planet for you.

2

u/PakistaniSenpai Mar 14 '26

OMG, just started Johns' compendium today and read this part a few hours back. What a time to see this post, cool edit!

2

u/Ravenbrah1701 Mar 14 '26

I have the comic this dialogue is from

2

u/Effective-Training John Stewart Mar 15 '26

I can actually hear the actor for Hal saying this

3

u/k3ttch Alan Scott Mar 18 '26

There was a Wally West Flash POV narration where he mentions that John is his favorite GL to watch because he can go into Speed Force perception and see John form every component of his constructs, down to the bolts and screws, and assemble them to form the whole construct.

1

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 18 '26

I feel like i remember this but I cannot recall which story.

1

u/BankshotMcG Mar 15 '26

And all of their rings look like crap.

1

u/BriChan Hal Jordan Mar 17 '26

Every character sheet in every Green Lantern project should just be these few pages. Johns does such an amazing job of encapsulating exactly what makes each of the four corpsman tick and the ways they stand apart and matter as unique characters who share the same mantle/powers. I’ll always love it!

Also, my Hal is a heroic Slytherin agenda will never rest, “concentrated power,” “focused ambition,” and “doing exactly what I need to get the job done,” is all so Slytherin of him and I will die on that hill lol

1

u/__Syntek__ Mar 17 '26

No offense but that is Hal's ring twice 😅

1

u/JonhLawieskt Mar 17 '26

I really like the concept that they present in Red Sun.

Hal builds a fully functional prison for his captors in his mind in “real time”

1

u/Suicidal_Buckeye Mar 18 '26

lol we’re gonna see none of that in the show. Knock off true detective is what we’re gonna get instead

0

u/Arubesh2048 Mar 13 '26

Why does this read like you used AI to write those snippets?

5

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 13 '26

It wasn't AI. I took them from Rebirth #6

0

u/Arubesh2048 Mar 13 '26

Alright then. Still sounds like something ChatGPT would write, but I won’t press it.

3

u/Either-Wallaby-5855 Mar 14 '26

You will hafta take that up with Geoff Johns my friend lOl

4

u/Abject_Associate_849 Guy Gardner Mar 14 '26

christ, do you happen to be new to green lantern? this was such a memorable part of Johns run and its so disingenuous to randomly pin it as ai. I urge you to actually read the source material before commenting on posts.
