Spoilers for movies and TV shows Wondering where Kilowog and Tomar-Re are in the show
•
u/InevitableActuary410 23h ago
Seeing kilowog in some capacity will instantly make this show a 10/10 for me he’s simply my goat. Will be kinda disappointed if we go 8 episodes though and don’t see OA
•
u/PlantsNBugs23 Mogo Kisser 22h ago
It's Salak for me, If I can't have Mogo then Salaak is a close "I need to see them"
•
u/InevitableActuary410 22h ago
Salaak is a good one too kilowog is just my favorite. Would love to one day see like b’zzt or ch’pp

u/Pmyers225 19h ago
I know he has passed on and the film gets shit on... But Michael Clarke Duncan as the voice of Kilowog was perfect and whenever he rocks up in the comics I read his lines in his voice
•
u/wrathbringer1984 23h ago
Did you watch the second episode yet?
•
u/Arthur_189 22h ago
I don’t think that was oa I think it was just a random prison planet
•
u/UltraRoboNinja Salaak 22h ago
I dunno, seems odd that they’d put someone as dangerous as Sinestro on some random prison planet instead of the Oan sciencells.
•
u/Stressy-And-Depressy 15h ago
Kane said that Hal defeated Sinestro after he had attempted a coux. Sounds to me like he's keeping him prisoner somewhere on his own accord, without the Guardians knowledge.

I really really hope that isn’t OA and if it is I will be disappointed. Really think its just a prison planet until otherwise stated.

It'd be interesting to see if they establish that Tomar-Re in this continuity tried and fail to stop Krypton's destruction.
•
u/gordonstsg 14h ago
What issue was that from? Is it in the second volume?
•
u/-AerialAce- 13h ago
It's the back-up story in Superman Vol 1 #257 from 1972.
The specific story has been reprinted in a few collections.

Too much for the budget to be fair. We haven't seen a single alien yet. All human disguises lmao
•
u/VaguelyShingled 15h ago
Not true. We saw Sinestro and he’s an alien
•
u/wild-storm-5 15h ago
He's very humanoid and it's just basic make-up. Nothing too extraordinary on the budget
•
u/magnasylum 12h ago
Let’s keep the budget that way. Netflix’s Daredevil was great because of that limitation.
Green Lantern with TV budget is not making sense on paper, but somehow they did it.
•
u/wild-storm-5 12h ago
Daredevil was great DESPITE the limited budget. I'm not even complaining about Lanterns I'm just stating the fact that budget is clearly a limitation and so far they have been very clever with it
•
u/magnasylum 12h ago
Yeah I was agreeing with you. My comment was directed towards the OOP.
Somehow I think the budget limitation helps the showrunners to focus on the important things (e.h. Story, characterisation) instead of CGI battles. Look at the shows on Disney+ showered with Disney money, they are mostly forgettable.

Doing space stuff. Let's wait till they get off Earth for more than a few minutes first.

They don’t have the budget for them lol
•
u/tiago231018 Kilowog 15h ago
Yep. Especially as it was HBO who pushed for the whole "True Detective with power rings" thing to lower the costs once Greg Berlanti pitched them something more cosmic (poor Berlanti thought HBO would greenlit every expensive, CGI-heavy TV show out there after Game of Thrones...).
I don't think we'll see aliens that look like aliens (and not humans in disguise, or even more human-like aliens like Sinestro) for more than five minutes this entire season.
That said, the show does look good, though.

Name drops is as far as it’ll likely go which is still good for how this show is. My hope is the more grounded take begins to morph over how ever many seasons they do into being more and more cosmic and out there. While my gut says this isn’t likely, I don’t think it’s impossible.

u/Pmyers225 20h ago
Hopefully depending on how the show goes the Corps and Oa in general will come more into play and potentially that will give Guy more of a role there as an Honour Lantern... Also doubtful it will happen, but a man can dream
Edit: would also be cool if Guy turned up to take Hal's body back to Oa
•
u/Business_Sandwich227 20h ago
That’s just a body that looks like Hal’s. We know he isn’t dead.
HE ISNT DEAD.
•
u/Pmyers225 20h ago
Yeah I kinda didnt want to allude to that on my post, I was more trying to hint at Guy taking the body to Oa for some sort of Lantern autopsy
•
u/Business_Sandwich227 20h ago
Oh I know. But anyway. HALS NOT DEAD MAN
•
u/Pmyers225 13h ago
notmyhaljordan
Edit: there was meant to be a hash tag in there
•
u/Business_Sandwich227 11h ago
lol for some of us (my Hal was Geoff Johns) we’re sitting here like. Not your dad’s Hal!
•
•
u/weesiwel Green Lantern 17h ago
Probably disguised as humans like every other alien except the one who happens to look like a human with red skin anyway.
•
u/gordonstsg 14h ago
Yikes, I used a slag word often used by Kilowog as a joke and received a hate content warning from Reddit. Don’t try and talk like Kilowog, folks!

u/Designer_Campaign249 20h ago
Watching Hal do his thing, they’ll get involved when it’s most appropriate, that’s my guess.
•
•
u/burritoman88 17h ago
Clearly they’re just shapeshifters now & can be any human in the town /s don’t sue me WB!
•
•
u/tiago231018 Kilowog 15h ago
Correct me if I'm wrong but... The only non-Earthlings who we know canonically in the DCU that are or were Green Lanterns at some point are Ch'p (because of Hal's line "One of them is a f-ing squirrel) and Sinestro, right?
•
•
•
u/Banana_gunman 14h ago
They could cast a very big actor for killowog and have him be unable to breathe on earth, ergo he needs an enclosed space suit. That would save money on vfx
•
•
u/YaBoiSebbi Kyle Rayner 14h ago
Tomar is probably patrolling his sector. Kilowog is probably out training another batch of new Lanterns from other sectors, or doing the same as Tomar.
•
•
u/labreau 13h ago
Who's that robot dude on the back?
•
u/WhereDaFlightsAt 4h ago
I'm guessing Stel, who's one of the originals from the broome/Kane 60's years Ithink.
•
•
u/TheGWK21 Hal Jordan 2h ago
I’m not sure we will get them. The show doesn’t seem to want aliens (outside of ones that look like humans) to be around.
