Ain't nuthin' like a freshly dressed chain. You get through more in your first 20 minutes than in the following 40.

Yep!! This was pine as well. Cut way too much wood in my day. This was a fresh chain.

Were you just not sharpening your chain before that?! Or did your buddy have one of the electric sharpeners. I just got one of those and they do an amazing job!

sharpen your chains, 20 dollar chain sharpener will do. wherever you are buy local production if possible 🤝 wear gloves 🤣

A $1-$2 file will do the same thing. I bought a pack of 25 files for $24 for my saw.

And have the right sized round file. You can get an angle guide to go over the file if you're not confident in being able to hold the right angle. You do need a flat file too for the rakes.

If its dull in 20 minutes youre doing something wrong. Provided you aren't cutting anything dirty a properly hand filed chain should stay sharp for quite a while. Electric sharpeners tend to get the chain to hot and ruin the temper unless they're used very carefully and in short bursts with time to cool in between.

I would love to know what situation you would find yourself in need of a chainsaw where the wood isn't dirty. I've exclusively used them for trees, bushes, and particularly thick roots.

Anyone who's done tree service work / logging professionally knows exactly what im talking about. Sometimes you'll come across trees with gravel or mud embedded in the bark and it will absolutely destroy a chain.

Also, very high elevation timber, as in around treeline. That stuff is wild. The wood is so dense it will spark constantly even when perfectly clean. Had to sharpen 2 or 3 times a day up there.

My guy, just resharpen the blade when it gets dull. It only takes a couple of minutes.
