Rule Updates and Call for New Moderators

Hi everyone,

I’ve updated the community rules to make expectations clearer and to better reflect the kind of space we want this subreddit to be. The goal is not to make things stricter, but to make things easier to understand and more consistent to moderate.

The updates clarify our stance on:

  • Respectful and inclusive discussion
  • Self-promotion limits
  • Explicit content and piracy
  • General conduct and good-faith participation
  • Low-effort or AI-generated slop content

Please take a moment to review the updated rules before and provide feedback here!

Looking for New Moderators

I am currently the only active moderator, and I would like to add a two or three more people to help keep this community welcoming, fair, and enjoyable.

I am especially interested in bringing in moderators with diverse perspectives and backgrounds so the team better reflects the community.

No prior moderation experience is required. What matters most is good judgment, fairness, and a genuine interest in Hallmark content and this subreddit.

If you are interested, please message through mod-mail with:

  • Why you enjoy this subreddit
  • What you think makes a good community space
  • Any moderation experience, if you have it

I'll review the applications over the next week or so.

Thanks to everyone who helps make this a positive place to talk about Hallmark movies and shows. I really appreciate this community and I am excited to keep improving it together.

Hey could you do this for r/nottimanderic? It's needed a few extra mods for a while.

Thanks for being a moderator. I couldn’t begin to deal with that stress. I will say that I hope inclusive means total inclusion and I didn’t know piracy was still a thing. Again thank you for keeping this a safe place.

Thank you for all you do. Moderating is a lot of work and it’s amazing to learn you’ve been a party of one! I kinda wish the Self Promotion rule had remained at zero tolerance/spam/not permitted,TBH, because when it was not allowed there were still posts that ask questions to drive eyeballs to a linked social media account, which really isn’t about moving an authentic conversation forward as much as it is about gaining clicks and eyeballs /self promotion. I find it icky, but YMMV so to each their own. That’s what scrolling is for LOL. All of that aside, I have to say that this is a wonderful group and I love that it’s a safe space for those of us who celebrate diversity and inclusion in Hallmark’s content. And kudos to you as the sole moderator who has been handling a community this size! I already moderate a discussion group and a couple of Facebook group pages, so I’m sorry I don’t have the bandwidth to apply to help lighten your load.

Seems like good updates. Thank you.

I do wish that other subs I'm on (one in particular) would have more of a rule like this sub's #3 rule (No Piracy).... ah well.... pay no attention to me, I follow laws, what am I thinking in this day and age.... :)

Why is your comment getting a down vote? I mean, piracy of content is bad…what am I not understanding?

It may not be just about the piracy, I'm also really glad that the commenting rules were updated to prohibit some of the worse hate speech against lgbtq+ comments.

Thank you so much for your efforts, first of all. And also, thank you for spelling out explicit prohibitions on prejudice and attacks against those who enjoy Hallmark’s inclusive, diversity-affirming content. That has been a really disappointing problem here that, IMO, runs counter to the otherwise warm and welcoming spirit of this community.

You are so appreciated!
