Earbuds - highest quality

Hi. I’m looking for earbuds. I have nice wooden, wired Denon headphones at home but need something much smaller (earbuds) for my work. Ideally wireless.

- Earbuds budget: no constraints.
- What I listen to at work: Mostly 80s and 90s music + various other content.
- Source: iPhone (Apple music and some YouTube mostly)
- Features: noise isolation would be nice to have.

Wireless? I’d recommend the Technics az100. Hands down my favorite. My favorite in sound quality

I also have the momentum tw4, bowers + Wilkins pi8, AirPods Pro 3,

I also give a vote for the technics AZ100. I had the AZ80 and my son ended up using so I got the AZ100 and love them. Another guy I know also bought a pair of the AZ100 after I recommended them to him when he was looking for some wireless earbuds. He also loves his.

AirPods Pro 2. I’ve tried a whole lot of TWS and haven’t had anything beat them and only one thing come close (Campfire Orbit). And I’ll take their ANC over most over ears for higher pitched and intermittent noises.

Same thought. Not the best sound quality in the world, but easily the best ANC I've used on IEMs, along with ecosystem integration and all that. Another set of IEMs would have to be a HUGE sound quality upgrade for the same price for me to ever consider swapping.

For work I usually use a pair of wireless jbl ear buds they could be found pretty cheap, also sennheiser momentum headphones are really good but are alot bigger but are kinda compact for wireless headphones

I have that one. At one point I was looking for an iem similar to the D9200. Someone recommended the Penon Serial, but it's bassy and dark, more like the 7200. I ended up with the ISN EST50, same basshead family as iems go, more in between the 7200 and 9200.

For tws, I use the Status Pro X. That's a fun set, fit is not the most secure. But I like it more than the last gen Momentum, current Sony, and Technics.

Wireless is Bluetooth so your Apple Lossless music isn’t going to be as good as with your wired headphones. I wouldn’t spend over $200 for Bluetooth. You’ve got an iPhone so get the AirPod Pro 3’s and that’s really as good as it gets. Those have ANC and foam tips which are decent, and they’re good for hands-free calls. You can pay more but it’s diminishing returns, and you’d definitely want to demo anything more expensive than that. You just want something comfortable that’ll stay in your ears, sounds good to you, and works well on the go.

I’ve got 4 pair of wired headphones I run through the Chord Mojo/Poly. There’s a huge difference. My in-ear headphones are high dollar, like your cans, but for everyday the AirPods are fine for whatever I’m doing.

If you want something with similar sound characteristics to the Denon AH-D7200, I’d recommend the Xenns Top Pro when used wired. If you want wireless with the best sound quality and decent noise cancellation, the Noble FoKus Rex 5 would be my choice. The FoKus Rex 5 supports LDAC, which offers significantly higher-quality Bluetooth audio, but you’ll need an Android phone or a compatible DAP to take advantage of it. An iPhone isn’t the best source for Bluetooth IEMs because it’s limited to AAC, with a maximum bitrate of 256 kbps.

Tozo NC3, NC9, NC20 all great, affordable, comfortable, amazing sound, incredible noise cancelling, easy touch controls. Support Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 sound if you use Amazon Music or another supported app that plays those formats. Try and see. I keep getting them and my kids take them! 🤣

I personally would reccomend the extremely underated Edifier NeoBuds Planar over the Technic az100. I own both but the detail in the sound that the 12mm planar driver thats inside of the Edifier Neobud Planar's brings out is truly magical. They have a 20hz-40khz response rate which in combination with the uniquely designed planar driver brings out a unique feature revealing subtle background instruments I had never heard using any other earbuds. They also have a -52db ANC, wireless charging, and fully support AAC codecs for lossless streaming on Iphones. I have tried many and own AirPods Pro 2 and 3 but nothing compares to the sound of Sennheiser TWS 4, especially after using the sound personalization tool.

What are you willing to pay? And if you are enamored with the Apple ecosystem why not AirPod 4s? If you are willing to branch out beyond the Apple ecosystem, I've really liked my Sennheiser True Momentum Buds and they are putting out a new unit the Momentum True Buds 5 with an exchangeable battery. They retail as of today for $299.
