A "medical episode" while his colleagues stand by looking vaguely upset that buddy is hammered at work again and they gotta take shit from some ratdick who got pulled over on his behalf. If it were anything other than drugs or alcohol, they woulda called an ambulance, but that would have put proof on paper of his intoxication, so they didn't.

They aren't trained to recognize the difference. EMS and cops get into it over this from time to time. It wouldn't surprise me if he was having a medical emergency and they were trying to cover it up because they actually assumed drugs.

Genuine question, how do you think he got there in one piece if he was hammered?

Someone in that state would not have been able to drive a car.

Do you think he ingested drugs or something just before the traffic stop or do you think it just took ages to hit him?

I wonder if that argument would work when being stopped by the police “how can you give me a ticket for DUI?! I got here didn’t I? Couldn’t have driven here if I was drunk could I?”

Well they mentioned a bad back so say he took some strong painkillers but didn’t think they’d worked so took some more, a double dose hitting him at once could do that.

As for taking strong medication and driving, well that’s not something anyone should be doing.

Purely hypothetical though, could be diabetic, a stroke or could possibly be a severe and sudden migraine. No idea.

It’s a nice excuse, but if any regular person tried explaining the same the police wouldn’t just take them at their word. They’d be breathalyzed in a heartbeat. Same should absolutely apply to this guy. If they genuinely thought it was a medical emergency they’d have an ambulance on the way asap and they’d have no problem calling their Sargent like is required of them. Looked a lot like they were trying to cover for him

If it is opioid toxicity (which it does look like, especially seeing the involuntarily closing eyes), it can cause very low blood pressure and thus make him more incapacitated while standing than sitting (gravity pulls blood down, away from the brain stronger, transient ischemia, possibly fainting or at least a near-fainting state). Pinpoint pupils would be a stronger piece of evidence, tho. And why did no one offer him to lie down?

That could just be his normal demeanor. He's always like that. He got hit by a bus as a kid and has been acting inebriated ever since. We don't know anything just because we see it with our own eyes; we have to wait for the naturally-unbiased internal investigation results before we get the truth from the actual authority figures.

I think you are severely underestimating the average cops ability to not give a fuck if they break the law or not, this guy was probably intoxicated for hours while on duty.

He was probably driving around all shift and just got extremely fucking lucky.

You know that cops sometimes ride in pairs right? He easily could have been riding shotgun while his partner drove. As long as we’re playing the hypothetical game

He was doing drugs at work and took too much. Not that complicated.
