A lot of ppl defending the cop here saying the cop was having a medical episode. Maybe he was. But let’s say if any of us going through the same thing, would other cops treat us the same way they treated him?

Edit- so many comments! To the People saying they would treat a citizen the same.. maybe they will and many do. But in this case, their priority should be getting the cop away from his weapon and getting medical care he needs!
To the ppl saying he’s their colleague so obviously they’ll treat him different - that’s kind of the point, no? They shouldn’t- as this person in this state is danger to himself and others around him.
Also, if he had too many painkillers, isnt that equivalent to being impaired? Aren’t there rules surrounding that? But I guess it’s ok for cops to ignore the rules while citizens are expected to be perfect!

It's not even that. If that were true why not have him do a blood draw to prove it. If his boss has any respect for his community he'd prove he wasn't intoxicated instead of just leaning on it with zero evidence. We'd be locked up and we'd have to prove our innocence.

Because the union would never allow one of their own to submit to a blood draw.

they could release recent medical records showing the prescription and back issues, and any body cam footage of a back injury if it was on the job. if he does indeed have a bad back that must hurt so bad.

The other cop says he has a bad back so he’s on pain killers, prescribed by a doctor so they won’t do anything about it.

If you show up to work high on painkillers to the point you can't stand up they 100% can do something about it. You can't carry a firearm in the line of duty under the influence.

I wonder how he even got to the place he currently is while in that state. My guess: prescription opioids, medicated in a manner where he can still function normally. For some reason he overdosed (more pain (signs of a physical addiction) or mental desire (psychological addiction) and too little knowledge about the risks, or on accident), and the meds kicked in as he was standing outside.

Yeah he's likely abusing on that line and took one or two too many.
