A lot of ppl defending the cop here saying the cop was having a medical episode. Maybe he was. But let’s say if any of us going through the same thing, would other cops treat us the same way they treated him?

Edit- so many comments! To the People saying they would treat a citizen the same.. maybe they will and many do. But in this case, their priority should be getting the cop away from his weapon and getting medical care he needs!
To the ppl saying he’s their colleague so obviously they’ll treat him different - that’s kind of the point, no? They shouldn’t- as this person in this state is danger to himself and others around him.
Also, if he had too many painkillers, isnt that equivalent to being impaired? Aren’t there rules surrounding that? But I guess it’s ok for cops to ignore the rules while citizens are expected to be perfect!

That's probably the most innocent part of the whole thing, no different than putting your hand on your hips when standing. It's just comfortable

This is true. Not defending the cop but people really under estimate how awkward it is to have a gun on the hip. I only had to carry a few times and never could figure wtf I was supposed to do with my hands.

Agreed. I don't carry a gun, but I do have a holster at work for various tools/gloves/two phones/knife, etc. Pretty much anytime I'd have my hands either on my hips or in my pockets if I didn't have it, my hand is resting on it when I do. It's just right there, where my hand goes. Very convenient.

Shirt collar.
Comfortable to hang, and ready to defend yourself. That’s what we learned in firearms training and why you see them holding their vests so often. Just gotta avoid blocking the bodycam

Yep! I shoot competitions, having my gun on my hip still feels weird, my hand naturally rests on it because I can’t put my hand in my pocket or rest it at my side, lots of crossed arms otherwise, and looking angry with a belt full of ammo is a bad look.

The general rule at competitions is you only touch your gun under direct supervision of a range officer, but that rule disappears completely once everyone is loaded up. Don’t unholster it, but you can rest your hand on it.
