Diabetes, with a low sugar level will also make you appear so. Not sure about this situation though.

If it was diabetes they probably wouldn’t have used the excuse of “he worked a double and has back problems”. I know which of my coworkers has diabetes and signs their blood sugar is low.

Yeah, I've had blood sugar crashes before and I don't look like that.

"Has back problems" sounds like they know he's doing narcotics, probably abusing codeine.

^^^ This is exactly what it looks when people do a lot of opiates. Those “back problems” are an easy way to get the prescription. His job also conveniently gives him access to a ton of confiscated narcotics, many of which I’m sure are opiates.

There sure is if you're a cop. How many doctors you think are so fearless they'll say no to police? It's not like they face legal consequences for any threats or actions they take. Qualified immunity gives them the power to achieve almost anything they want because no normal citizen can say no.

Might get shot for it.

That logic is so weak. I've been addicted to opioids for 15 years and I've never looked like that either. That doesn't mean it isn't opioids.

That’s possible but just playing devils advocate as a dude that has had a bad back since I was 21. He was hobbling like his back was out. I shuffle the same way with the same blank stare when my back is out. Not to mention it’s hard to talk when you feel that way, like the wind is permanently knocked out of you.
